Photo52 2012 : Join In !!! : Week 52 Busy

Hi, numbers have already dropped, as they did last year, so I have more time to comment on all that are using the spreadsheet linky :D if you PM Dawn (username Drodd) she'll add you...she's a good un

You can either catch up in one go or start fro week 4 and add weeks 1, 2 and 3 over the coming months.

You will get a lot out or it...but not wanting to put you off, it's not easy (and shouldn't be).

Cheers.

Sorry for the late reply, I couldn't find this thread again! That's a good idea, I've written down a few ideas and need to buy a few bits for one week. And I'll have to stop getting impatient at my not near perfect pics :D But hopefully I'll have a thread up at running by the end of this week, if not next :)

Thanks.

We'll just have to have 11 links on the first page with the last one taking you to a new list in the thread so you can start again from week 12!

Or just change it so there's no limit! I understand why it was done, but it's a pain to everyone else!

oh boy...just started my comments catch up....def couldn't manage without the spreadsheet...just work my way down it , must confess to missing the ones that are'nt update to week 3 or 4....I'd have to take a couple of days off work otherwise

as for posting a link in the 1st post of your thread...if it works for you then great....I have'nt a clue how to do it...tried & failed last year :(

As for changing your thread title...if it becomes a problem I'm sure a pm to Sarahlee will sort it out for you...she's incredibly helpful

You are very dedicated I hope to catch up on a few as and when but life is too busy.

Yeah appologies for all those I have not commented on yet, work has got in the way.

I'm hoping to get my week 4 shot up tomorrow night and then play comment catch up :)

I think they've changed it to 90 days now, which is still 12 weeks worth. I'm going to keep updating mine for as long as they let me.

 Yes - it's set at 90 days, so we have a while yet before it starts to become a problem.
Once we get closer to the cut-off point I'll raise the issue in the staffroom for discussion again and see where we take it from there. Don't worry, one way or another we'll come to a sensible solution for it.

I posted this on how to post a link:

As for linking your posts, it's easier done on a pc. Open the post you want to link in a new window by clicking on the post number. Copy the address.

Go back to your first post in your thread and type which ever theme name it is.

Highlight that word and click on the hyperlink (a little globe with a paper clip) A box will open with 'http://' delete that and paste in the address you copied earlier. Click ok. It'll show the whole address. Click save and your theme will be linked:thumbs:

I hope that helps. It certainly helps me when I find time to visit threads I've not been on.

Is it Saturday yet? Is it is it is it????

Re the selection of themes, I don't see a problem. I agree that some (sweet is a good example), have very obvious connotations on first seeing them, so half the challenge for me is thinking "OK, so the obvious one is a picture of a sweet; but what can I do that's NOT so obvious?". Even pictures of sweets can vary a lot in technique and interpretation.

I do like the idea, but separately, of something more like a course; each week we concentrate on a technique, like "panning", maybe with some tips from experienced people, but I don't think this 52 should be it. The beauty of it now is that anyone can get a lot out of it at any level; the course approach would make it quite specific to a certain ability level. It'd either be too easy for advanced togs, or too tough for newbies like me.

A technique based 52 could also require specific equipment and/or location types (e.g. landscape) that not everyone would have access to, either in the relevant week or at all.

So far the main benefit of this 52 for me has been that it's made me think about the shot I want BEFORE I take it, rather than "ooh that looks nice > snap". The themes are irrelevant to that; they just have to exist!

Absolutely - whilst themes like "Sigh" might cause us all to well sigh and groan !! I have no doubt that it pushes me to think much harder about the process of taking the picture. I'm in this to push myself beyond taking a "snap" to an increased standard of composition/lighting and techincal understanding of the process.

:plusone:

I'm thinking about composition, lighting, exposure and everything in between a whole lot more than 4 weeks ago. I'm looking at everyday objects and thinking about how I can capture them in a unique and meaningful way rather than 'adjust settings, point, shoot' so for me the 52 has been a marvelous adventure, and we still have 48 to go!

Bring on tomorrow morning! :geek:

Agree entirely.

I have been a bit tardy in the last 2 weeks but posted today. I have not commented on any in those 2 weeks as I did not want to copy anyone's ideas. I know from the posts on this thread that it is a hard task but I will set to now with a bit more focus.

Part of me is thinking  for tomorrow's theme......but mostly I'm thinking:woot::banana::woot::woot::woot:

Now where's the Jack Daniels....:D

Good luck all and if you're still with us.....

is it really saturday tomorrow??

I need large quantities of alcohol after a total mare of a day at work.....please let the theme NOT BE TOO HARD

still working my way through all the threads...started at the top of the spreadsheet yesterday & got about 1/2 way down....started at the bottom toinght & about 1/2 way up so hopefully have covered most people.....will double check tomorrow once the vino's worn off :-)

You know you're obsessed when the first thing you do when you wake up is grab your phone to check the new theme!

Secure:thinking:

I've been checking it since I got up at 6am! :cuckoo:

Hmm secure interesting will be load of pictures of padlocks
You could have said something similar for Sweet but look at the variation of photos that were produced.

Yes padlocks sprung into my mind but I have other ideas! I think I'll need 'permission to shoot' this week!

I am usually there at 6 too, but recovering from illness (and hubby) have allowed me a rare lie in!

Sooo many things come to mine I think its thinking cap on for something a bit different on the obvious or a different way of taking the obvious.

Just woke up,(I've deserved my lie in before you judge me hahaha) and as usual the first thing I do is check here for the weekly theme.

Going to be hard to "secure" a picture for this week me thinks! Lol

Hi everyone, just a message to say that I will be without a laptop until the next week, hoping mine will be back from repair by monday (eventually!) This one has to back to my dad tonight! I do have my phone and the trusty tp app, so will do what I can. Failing that I shall catch up at some point next week.

Thanks again to everyone popping by and commenting, as always it is greatly appreciated.

What were you after? Any ideas why it didn't work out?

This forum is as much about why photographs didn't work as much as it is about how photographs did work
Very True :)

An old arcade building that I thought was shut up was open :D

From memory I was going to get the closed arcade with Dunes in the background, lit with only street lighting - Long exposure

Checked it out... won't look right even when they close later tonight... I should of checked rather than leaving it till tonight, been so busy to get something in the day - tut tut me :nono:
