 OMG how are you going to cope with a photo52 and the WIIT?

Good on you though ..... you are starting to make me feel guilty for not partaking in this year's 52 :D

...... OMG I can see myself subscribing to same in a few weeks

Good Luck, and I hope you make it to the finish.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Apologies if this has already been posted and ive missed it, but when does the theme for week 2 get posted?

Nick

I'm joining in too....

Well madness has prevailed and after a drunken night in the pub before Christmas the ramblings of two drunken old blokes has morphed into the 52 cameras in 52 weeks challenge. So, we both have a cupboard full of film cameras and fridges full of film and what better way to keep them alive than run some film through them and post the results up for other sanity challenged photographers.

I'm going to try and run a blog alongside the challenge on TP and it has already been started by my mate and fellow camera nut Al

If you fancy keeping up with our attempts pop along to 52cameras and see how we're getting on.

Tomorrow I think .... Should be on Page 1

Hi

Can someone just explain where and how we post our photos? I've not started my thread yet but have my first attempt ready. It's just that I have seen some threads with the photos in them and others with links and weeks 1-52 on ready for links to be added.

I've been using Flickr but I just can't get to grips with it, I think it's me being thick but it seems a nightmare to navigate!

I apologise if this has been asked already!

Hi Marsha, the photos are posted in a thread you create in the Feedback & critique section which can be found on the home page.

When you have found it click on the sub-forum 52 and that is where you post your thread/pictures.

If you have a look at this STICKY in that section it should explain everything you need to know about getting your post up and running :)

Hope this helps out :)

Look forward to seeing your 52 soon

No shortage of sanity challenged photographers around these parts though ;)

Hiya Photo52'ers

I am glad to see so many of you have started your threads and already posting. I have popped passed a few and will visit others as the weeks go by.

Last year I create an Excel spreadsheet for the 2011 to access and complete as they progressed through the project. It proved to be quite useful to many, and in a way is quite motivating in itself especially when you get to the halfway mark and as you approach the end.

After a request from Lynne (Blondie606), I agreed to compile a new spreadsheet for this years group.

Please be aware that I have had to give Edit access to folk who have access to the link, so please be careful when you enter detail (preferably one should only be adding an 'X' in the relevant row of each week (you could also make minimum note if you like .... as a reminder/or To Do).

Last year we had a member 'kindly' resort the list and it resulted in a lot of work for me to unpick, resort, and identify who was making the changes (yes I can find out when and who :D).

I have sorted it in alphabetical order, purely for ease of finding people by their usernames, and there is an active link for each too which does help access the individual threads.

As the year progresses, their may be new members and those who drift out of the project .... so if you would like me to .... I can sort the list in descending order of weeks completed.

I hope you find this spreadsheet useful to you all.

SarahLee ..... please could you add the link to the OP of this thread?

2012 Photo52 spreadsheet

I have also included a worksheet in the same link for those who are completing the reshoot of 2009 themes.

If there are any question regards the document, or if you are not sure how to add your own name and link to the sheet, just drop me a PM with a link to your Photo52 thread and I will add you.

Once again, good luck to you all and I will pop past to offer support and encouragement.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Cool, thanks Dawn

Now how the hell do I work it?

Thanks Dawn, good work.

I have no choice but to stick to it this year or risk getting a butt kicking :)

Dawn, you're a star. I'll be using the spreadsheet and a reference to refer to when commenting and I'd welcome the spreadsheet being filtered as you did last year.

Any idea what row 68 is? It has my username in it??

Don't tell me you're not tiny bit tempted to join in...:thumbs:

You are welcome and yep you have got the latter correct :D

:police:
And just when I pointed out below not to make changes to other members details ..... who comes along and changes the wrong row ..... Posiview (Andy!!! you naught boy :rules: :bat: .... now I am going to have to go and correct Nathalie's link as you have kindly changed her link to yours and then added your name and username to Week 1 and Week 2! Now I could understand it happening to a newbie ..... but you have had almost 52 weeks of practice using the same sheet last year

Cheers

The evidence is there .... take a look before I amend it :D

I think what happened, is when you added the red highlight to your row, you may have accidentally copied your link to the other row.

No probs though .... I'll just have to remember to pack my paddle to give you a good :bat: next weekend

Cheers

Dawn :)

So that's me and Andy on Dawn's butt kicking list so far, think you might need another spreadsheet for it :)

:clap::thumbs: Many thanks for doing this Dawn...I know you've got loads on your plate at the mo so really appreciate you taking time out to do this

Now to just figure out how many week one's I haven't looked at

The "Butt Kicking Spreadsheet" .. better make sure that`s said correctly

Thanks Dawn for sorting out the spreadsheet, seams there are a lot of us doing this, it should help with looking at everyone's thread.

You are most welcome Dan ;) It does take some time to compile the sheet although it has been made a bit easier this year since Clawz had already sifted through the thread to create a list. I have noticed there are a few missing, but will add them as I find them.

Indeed there are a lot of people ... not as many as last year though where we had 179 start and only about 10 of us have finished :(

Which just goes to show that this is a mammoth project that requires a lot of time and dedication.

So that's me and Andy on Dawn's butt kicking list so far, think you might need another spreadsheet for it

 great idea ..... I'll have to consider same :p

:naughty: ..... beware .... and yes you better make sure you say that correctly

You are welcome Lynne ... I know how much it was of use to you last year ;) It is also a good way to see how all are keeping up with the weeks, and where necessary provide support to those who seem to be struggling a bit, as I am sure you recall a few of us going through same last year.

I wanted to finish this before the next theme is announced, so that it can be kept updated weekly.

Look forward to seeing you next weekend at the meet.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Well I am going to do this as well as my 366 so I am in.....

Can I please be added to the spread sheet?

Done

Good Luck with the project, I will pop over to thread to keep up to date with your progress.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Can I just add, please try to visit as many of the 52's as you can people and leave CC.

Everyone likes a pat on the back at times but it helps you improve and gives people the encouragement to try harder or see things from another perspective.

By giving others CC we will also learn what your eye finds pleasing or not, as well as give us other ideas to try. I've already seen several photos that i going to try to recreating in my own way :)

Good luck to all that are doing the 52, only 10 finished last year. What say we try and make this a record year for numbers finishing :)

 Roly, well said.

As an experienced Photo52'er myself, I know how tough it can be, not just to meet each weeks brief, but also the time it takes to view and comment on fellow team members posts.

I say 'team members', because that is ultimately what you are, even though it is a personal project .... you will hopefully all contribute to each others learning experience and photography development.

Granted it is a time consuming challenge, and YES! without the continued support, encouragement, comments, critique, feedback etc the whole purpose of this project will sadly fail and you gain nothing from the effort you put into producing your photos each week.

Indeed .... there were only a few of us complete last year (10 out of 179 ), but let me tell you that the spirit was amazing and some lifelong friendships forged from same. I met some very interesting and precious people along the way and look forward to meeting up with them again next week at our 'end of year meet'. Plus, I bet those who got so far and then stopped are kicking themselves for not finishing ..... what is the old saying 'close but no cigar' .... DON'T LET THAT BE YOU!

Can I stress that, if possible, arrange a meet mid term and end of year. It gives all something to look forward to, even if only a few can attend. We had a most amazing mid term meet last year in the Peak District and covered everything from landscape, architecture, portrait, light painting, star trails, sunrise (which I was the only one to capture because the others were all in dream land ), light trails, fungi foraging, macro, nature .... oh the list goes on! It was BRILLIANT and now we are meeting up next weekend for our end of Photo52 meet in Cumbria (with a few who were not on the 52, but that is what we are like ...... we are not a clique, we are TP members having fun and learning and enjoying our passion for photography at the same time).

The Admin/Mods kindly christened me with a title of 'Also loves to mass debate' .... and yes I agree, especially when I try to drum home the fact that you must not give up ..... persevere! .... in the end you will reap the rewards.

I trust you will all stick by each other and help each other to the end. I know that I will do my best to pop by on each of you and offer c&c and encouragement. Just don't give up!

Can I just say here, that if at any time throughout the project you feel down, disheartened, demotivate, lost your mojo, lack of inspiration (believe me there will be themes that arise where you think WTF)...... feel free to send me a PM and I will try to help you overcome those barriers. There were a few of us who did same last year .... and it does help.

I am currently not partaking in this years Photo52, mainly because I have identified areas of photography that I need to develop further, so will be focusing on those. However I am still here to support you all, and who knows I may suffer 52 withdrawals and delve in later with a catch up.

Good luck to you all and I hope to see you all at the end of the year :)
