Photo52 2011 - Wk 48 Cute added

Today was a fun time as a friend and I went to Chester Zoo. With the word power in my mind we looked at the lion, all asleep; the tiger, asleep; the heat had it's usual soporofic effects.

So we thought along a different line as we are neither of us are so athletic these days we had borrowed some locomotory help

Power is all relative :D

Hiya Tina,

Hope you had a license to joyride on the Power Scooter :D and that you had a great day at the zoo.

You should have beeped the horn a few times to wake the lazy animals

Clever idea for the theme though, well done.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Good shot Tina. Seems to be playing tricks on my eyes though. They are telling me the picture is slightly squint but my brain says it's straight. Think it's the line of reflected light at the bottom that's doing it.

Hi Tina, clever idea for the theme (I'm struggling for an idea:thinking:). Made me smile :). Hope you had a good day, even if the big cat were enjoying a sleep in the sun.

My feeling is that the pic is a little soft - I wonder if a bit of sharpening in PP would help?

License!!! What category? surely i can :naughty: cos I diD

We tried the horn beeping but even when we needed to reverse it seemed only those sitting on the scooter could hear the horn

Oh I took AGES trying to ensure i was level...I'm still not sure

Nice catch.

Wonder if it's yours....:exit:

It has had a good sharpen in Fastone not sure it would stand more due to the large areas or reflection. Will try though.

Think you have it right Tina, just an optical illusion methinks.

A good take on theme Tina, as that was more full of charge than the animals. As far as I can see it is straight and in focus and the Power element to it is obvious . Nice one T.
will we see you racing around in the next series of Benidorm?

Great image for divided Tina... I love the meaning behind it... We have similar issues in Scotland over religious divission between churches... in this day and age it just seems redic! What is sadder however are the people who make all the noise tend to be the ones who dont even go to the churches of the suposed faiths they shout about! If they did and follow the beliefs of those faiths then they would not do what they do! Much the same as much of the extreemest behaviour in the world.

Great shot as getting a good vantage point would have been hard!

Mark

Hiya Tina,

Great shot and take on the theme.

Nice and sharp and good control to keep the colour of the sky.

Well done

Cheers

Although it's my local patch, I've not taken any proper shots of the Cathedrals.

It’s a good take on the theme and a nice angle.
I’m guessing you were somewhere near the Renault garage, but where?

I find them hard to get decent shots of them, the area is so cluttered isn't it? Nowhere near the Renault Garage ;) Keep guessing :D

I wholeheartedly agree with you Mark. Religion is cited as the cause of so much pain and destruction to mankind.

The vantage point is easier than one might suppose ;)

Thanks Dawn. I was in the right place at the right time :)

Very nice image Tina.

Thank you Michael.

I would concur with mental block... google maps alighning the cathedrals sorta shows either from the water or on the other side around new ferry road!

I'm a sado I know... but it killed 5 mins of a long afternoon at work!

A big lens from Bromborough then, or a boat?

Well Done boys  New Ferry it was - I'm not good on boats

Being a shallow kind of chap, first thing I did was Google Mapplin & Webb....:gag:

You metioned the colour, it would be nice to see more oomph in the ring.

Think I'd like to see a closer crop.

Anyway, he kept his promise....

Cheers.

Hiya Tina

What a beautiful ring, is the centre stone an Amethyst? Wow that must have cost some money.

Like Andy I too googled Mappin & Webb .... royal status hey ;)

At first I wasn't sure about the presentation, but can see where you were going with this the more I look at it.

Perhaps a different background would have worked better and it would also be nice to see more of the ring close up.

A nice take on the theme and thanks for sharing this token of promise with us.

Cheers

Thanks folks. The poor colour is demonstrated as it is an old fashioned ruby!

My knowledge makes a closer shot difficult and I'm having difficulty with backgrounds (you've all seen my tablecloths ) Sitting here thinking as I type I might have another go as the jewellery project I had to do is finished so I can clear some more space :naughty:

Must try harder

Hiya Tina

I was in two minds as to whether it was a ruby or an amethyst, so thanks for the clarification. The lighting does give it a more purple colour. Ruby is my birthstone, so one of my favourite gems ;)

Cheers

Lovely ring Tina, as has been said already a closer shot would give more impact. Obviously how close you can focus is dictated by the lens you have but your ef50mm should be able to fill a large part of the frame with it. Even cropping the picture right in would work. And as Michael has said maybe try lighting the ring with a torch. Always difficult with shiny objects and reflections but well worth playing around with.

Thanks Colin, I have a set up now, littering teh dining table as i try to improve this. I haden't thought of a torch so thanks to michael I will try that and of course I see how a crop would improve it. Why do I have to wait for the obvious to be pointed out before i see something :bonk:

Hi Tina,
I didn,t google Mappin and Webb, but only because I had read the comments of those that did, lol.
Lovely personal idea to share for Promise. A well taken shot but I do concur about perhaps cropping in a bit to show more ring.:naughty:

Being a bloke...i didn't google anything... i sat back and waited for others to.. and it paid off.. i had time to open another pint aaannnddd the answer come forth...

but what struck me about your image was.. i think we have the same carpet as you...

Hiya Tina,

Wow that is much better

The ring is stunning now that I can see the colours better. Pity about the light reflection on the centre of the ruby, but otherwise a lovely shot.

Cheers

Dawn :)
