Photo52 2011 - Join In !!! - Week 52 and special bonus out now -

I haven't been sat here all day awaiting week 4, honestly :help:

Just looked at my wife and said, week 4 is up....she gave me "that" look, then proceeded to give me a great (but potentially painful) idea.

Keep up the great work, Sarah.

Oh yes - I know "that" look.
Every Saturday afternoon when I say I'm going to pull the 52 theme

In case there was any confusion over week4 . . .
Just a bit of clarity on this theme - as posted at the end of the Week 3 thread :

"Open" is the word that was on the card ;)
How you choose to interpret it is entirely up to you.

You can take it on face value as a theme in itself and choose to photograph something that portrays the word "open".
Or as people have said above, it's open to a second interpretation and you can take it as an "open week" where you can do anything that you want.

Unlike the jokers and re-shoot weeks this isn't a "special feature" of the 52 though. It is a genuine theme.
Hope that helps.

Open...?

I cant wait to see Cris_L's offering this week

Is is too late to join in? I am in my second year of a 365 project and this project sounds interesting. How do I start a thread and can I post from previous weeks.

Hiya Joe,

It's never too late to join in, so welcome on board. You can choose how you want to take this forward, either do a quick catch up on the past themes if you have the time, or post them as you feel fit. But I think you may find it easier to do a catch up if you can, and then you can participate on a weekly basis, but no pressure. This is your own personal challenge so take it at your own pace, what feels comfortable for you.

What you need to do is start a thread, and in the title/subject state which week you are posting for. Post the thread in the personal challenges thread, not here, otherwise it will get missed. Have a look at some of the others who have posted and you will soon get the idea.

Each week you post a new theme, edit the original post, i.e., the first of your posts, got 'advanced' and edit the title to reflect same.

Any more questions, just shout.

Good luck and look forward to seeing your posts.

BTW I will add you to the spreadsheet which you will see the link to above.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Dawn,

Is it possible for me to join in too? I got my first DSLR yesterday and I'm very new to the photography world - so my photos will be of beginner quality for a while!

Will.

Hi Will,

As far as I am aware it is okay for people to join at any point of the Photo52, it is up to you whether you want to catch up, we are currently on week 4. So if you wanted to, you could post 4 images to catch up, or just take it at your own pace.

Congrats on your first DSLR, I hope you have great fun. You are in the right place here on TP for learning as there are so many friendly and helpful folk here. Don't worry about being a beginner, we all have to start somewhere, and I think by doing this 52 you will learn a lot and hopefully at the end of the year you will look back over the weeks and see how much you have learned and progressed.

If you decide to join, welcome on board and I look forward to seeing your images.

Once you have set up a thread you can add your name to the spreadsheet, if you want, so that you can keep a record of what weeks you have completed and also it is helpful to link to the others doing the 52. If you have any problems doing this, let me know and I will add your name.

Link to the spreadsheet here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhTphN7dSXDadEtvTm5idXo2ajZTOVI5Qy01VU10a1E&hl=en_GB&authkey=CK7rjrAE

Good Luck

Cheers

Hiya Sarah,

Thanks for posting the theme for week 5.

I will have to get my thinking cap on for this one, I think this could be quite a toughy.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hello. Would someone be kind enough to add me to the 52 Spreadsheet?
I would do it myself but I have not got a clue how to use spreadsheets. (I'm scared off them)
here is my 52 link
http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=288424
Thanks to whoever helps me out.
Liam

Hiya Liam,

Welcome to TP and to the 2011 Photo52. I have added your name and link to the spreadsheet, plus updated it with the weeks you have completed. You can now keep it up to date by adding a 'x' in the relevant column as the weeks go on.

Good luck with your project, I've only had a quick peek tonight, but will pop past again tomorrow for a closer look. It has been a hectic day today as it was my son's 6th birthday and we didn't get home till late.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks Dawn, Thats really great of you.
Out late for his 6th birthday? I bet your already dreading his 16th! :D

Hiya Liam,

You are welcome. Took him to dinner, cinema & then his grandma's - but at least he had fun. Indeed, I am dreading his 16th, that could be an all nighter when he gets there

Cheers

Dawn:)

Thank you very much. I will start sometime soon. One more question - I notice that there is a single link in the spreadsheet. It it one thread for all 52 weeks or will I have 52 different threads?

Hi, yes it is one thread for the 52 weeks (although once that reaches the limit you may have to start another thread, i.e., Part 2 to continue your project). All you do is change the title of your original post to refelect the week you have added.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Dawn :)

b****r, b****r, b****r....

I took Friday off and had my 'hard' all worked out.

Then the wind/rain started, I persisted but got nothing...:annoyed:, even my backup plans failed.

Well miffed!

Anyway, I'm sat here at work (on a break :)) thinking of backup, backup plans. I can't get away this afternoon because my wife's set a 'tidy the house up' deadline... :'(

So, I'm going to see if I can sneak off for a while and see what I can do :exit:

Also, my broadband isn't working so may have to post my week 5 a bit late.

Cheers.

If it were me; I'd start from the first!
Can't chat, need to stop the wife cleaning so I can snap at some clutter!

 Definitely don't wait until next year! Start now while the intention is fresh in your mind.

Whether you start at week 1 and play catch up, or just join in from the current week and ignore the earlier themes is entirely up to you.
Personally, I'd start with the current week so that you're on the same page as everyone else, but try catch up on the other 5 weeks over the course of the year so that you end up with a full set.

Okay awesome :) sign me up I'll start from this saturday :) and catch up the others as I go !

Sorry, new here.. spent an hour clicking everything. No way can I find:- (Create your own special thread for your own 52 in the The Projects, Personal Challenges and Themes section (that's under General Photo Sharing)Many thanks in advance (hopefully lol)

Now I have a DSLR, albeit a D40 with the kit lens i'd like to have a bash at this. Take we just start a new thread in the Projects, Personal Challenges & Themes??

I will try and start from the beginning but may have to do those over the next few weeks if I dont have any suitable images.

As I'm back in the real world after some 'challenges' recently, I'll throw my hat in the rign for this give it a go as I need something to 'drive' me to take more photos.

Hiya everyone,

Thought I would just pop in here to firstly say well done to all of you so far for taking part in this Photo52 and welcome to the 'newbies' who have joined us later.

I am absolutely blown away and inspired by the fantastic photos on display. There is a lot of thought going into these weekly themes, so credit to you all

Personally, I can't believe how much I have learned over the past 6 weeks, so thank you to all who have contributed by comments on my personal project and also the support and feedback that is given to others. I read every post on each thread, and wouldn't do it any other way for chance I might miss some fital learning experience from others.

Apologies if I have not got round to visiting your projects yet, there are so many of us taking part and I find my evenings are consumed by TP Photo52 (which is a good thing .... and it far beats watching carp TV ). I will eventually get round to visiting all projects as that is one task I have set for myself, although it may just take a little while to do the rounds (but when I get there, if I haven't commented, I will do a quick update).

This project and my personal 365 have become part of my life for this year (some may think I am :cuckoo: but heyho, I am on a mission to learn as much as I can as I have big plans in the pipeline for the coming year).

The main thing is, this is not a chore, but rather a pleasure and I am thoroughly enjoying every moment.

Thanks everyone for your continued support.

And good luck to your all.

Cheers

Dawn :)

thank you dawn for all your hard work, it is greatly appreciated :0)

I have added my details to the spreadsheet, well, at least I think I have, tho not sure if I've dont it properly!

Well said Dawn, thanks for all of your hard work, I decided to pop a link to the spreadsheet in my signature, just to cut down on time really. Its great to see so many people joining in with this project, and the images being produced are brilliant. This is my first time of doing the 52 week project, it's really enjoyable and a great way to pursue the hobby that is photography.

Woohoooo!!!! Week 7 announced :D

Thanks SarahLee

BTW I had an idea tonight ......

Wouldn't it be great if we could all meet up for a 2011 TP 52 Meet at the end of this challenge?

If there is enough interest from members I don't mind taking on the organising the event. I could find somewhere central UK so that it is easy for all to commute to and attend. Just an early idea, but if peeps are keen, it could be great fun. Could make it a family day out too so the whole family can attend, especially as most of them will probs feature in the 52 somewhere along the line.

Still early days, but if it is an idea that has a majority vote, it could be FUN!

Cheers

Dawn :)

That would be great Dawn. I live in the US so meeting in the UK might be a problem.

I'd be up for a meet Dawn :)

Sounds like a cracking idea, as long as the likes of my mum and brother are able to offer there services, I think it would be a great idea.

Great idea Dawn ,I'd be up for meeting & puting faces to names:thumbs:

Hi I have been busy up to now but keeping an eye on the themes and will catch up determine to do this
:nikon:

Carl

Hiya,

Oh well it seems like a meet wouldn't be possible because of the geographic locations on this small island.

Maybe my initial idea was a bit over-ambitious.

Anyway, it is the thought that counts, and who knows maybe one day we can arrange a big TP meet.

Thanks to the those who expressed an interest.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hiya SarahLee,

OMG I really battle at times to find this thread and was wondering if it would be possible if you have a chat to the admin/mods to enquire if they can 'sticky' this thread? For a number of reasons:

1. It is where we find out the new theme (all of us wait in anticipation for the anouncement)
2. It is the place where there is information about the 2011 Photo52, so in a way a vital line to what is happening.
3. A place where we can post general comments, ideas, suggestions, or just a home to find encouragement from other members taking part, including newbies wanting to take part.
4. A noticeboard
5. A means for the 100+ of us taking part to keep in contact.
6. Has the link to the spreadsheet.

Just an idea, but I find I am having to trawl through pages of subscribed threads to find it.

BTW I am revisiting the spreadsheet after a few comments and suggestions with regards to the fact that there appear to be a few people who are
1. either not aware of the spreadsheat, or not using it or updating it (which is their own choice ... after all it is there if they want to use it)
2. Active members feel they are missing out on comment/views/feedback because they are alphabetically down the list.

So I am going to see if there is a way I can organise the spreadsheet in a way that I can have those who update on a regular basis to bring them to the top of the list to promote their threads, but at the same time keep all those who started or expressed an interest in doing the project to appear lower down in the list (but obviously no reflection of where they are in status). Because of work/life pressures we are all going to have times where we will 'slack' for want of a better word.

This will obviously become a routine task for me, which I don't mind doing, as long as I can fit it in with everything else.

I will keep everyone posted as to the outcome/solution I come up with. But in the meantime, if those who are using the spreadsheet, but have forgot to update it, can do so in the next few days, I would appreciate it as it would make things easier for me. I have tried to update as I have gone along, but sometimes miss some.

Personally I think this year's Photo52 is proving to be quite a success and am amazed at how many folk are keeping up to date and to those who joined later, well done for the catch up.

I can't express how much I have learned in the last 7 weeks and would like to thank you all for sharing your photos/projects, commenting on my own project and just in general being a fantastic bunch of peeps.

This is one of the best things I have taken on this year (having never attempted such a challenge before) and has opened new doors for me. I am currently in consult with a business advisor and looking at starting my own company in the very near future (biggest challenge at the moment, apart from the Photo52 and Personal 365 is putting my business plan together :bang:)

Well done so far to all of you who have produced some very inspiring and creative images for this project and to those who are lagging behind, GET A MOVE ON! (I want to see what you come up with!)

Loving every moment of this and look forward to the weeks ahead.

Now for week 8 (which I have resisted looking at until I posted this)

Cheers

Dawn :)
