Daily Phil's 2013 365 challenge 1/1/2013 All Done!!!!!!!!

Beautiful shot, very pretty and whilst its thick with fog frost and snow here its even nicer to look at!

Thanks T. Just wet and grey here today. All recovered after last night?

Here is day 16. Not very happy, my D7000 is away and im reduced to using a 10 year old olympus compact. Focus speed is rubbish, self timer wont work, no wireless remote obviously, image quality is worse than poor, etc etc etc. Anyway, i will try it for a day or 2 before i give up on it. This is a map of our area, Moy is the local village.

Frustrating isn't it when you are without your favourite camera, but at least you are keeping at it and it's sometimes good to work within a set of unusual constraints.

:plusone: Do you not have a phone on your mobile too?

Thanks Sarah and Sarah, yea camera on my phone and tablet too, I wont be stuck. Just very disappointed in Nikon at the minute:razz:

I am hoping it will be back by the middle of next week. I have todays shot taken, need to get it off the camera now.

I really think taking ourselves out of our comfort zone if a great way to progress and you have to do the best with what we have. This shot is simple and effective - I like it!

I feel your frustration but you produce good shots so i have faith in you...

When my wife saw the few shots i had taken for today, she commented, "well they are a bit sh5t!"
It made me laugh. No idea why these shots are so noisy and poor quality but tried loads of different settings and nothing seems to help. These have made an appearance in my own garden though looking at the weather forecast they might be covered by snow tomorrow. Going to try my phone tomorrow.

Sarah's right, it's not that bad. It's a touch underexposed, probably because the petals might have been quite bright and your camera tried to judge the scene as a middle grey tone. Not much you could have done to prevent it (I note you were using a point and shoot, so not sure what options you have to change the camera defaults). I think it might just need brightening up a bit and maybe running through a noise reduction filter if you have one.

Im going to come back to these few shots in a week or 2 and delete them all from flickr and this thread!

Not before someone nicks 'em, stores 'em and reposts 'em for you!!!:lol:

That flower's not bad, but at least wifey keeps you on your toes and makes you strive for better!!! :D

 I love your wives comment, but you missed a opportunity there of well I better go and treat myself to a decent backup ;) :naughty: and I think that you've actually done rather well given the restrictions

It's a bit annoying with that happens, but Sarah said it's not that bad :)

We can't all get perfect shots every day - the point is to get something every day. Some days I'm using my phone and I know I could get a much better shot on my 'real' camera but its still something and there is a bit of challenge in using whatever camera we have and make the best of it. (Rather than delete these - you could put an explanation on Flickr that they weren't from your usual camera?)

Hope you get your D7000 back soon.

Dont think I havnt suggested a backup Matt, I have spotted a nice D90 on gumtree close to me for not mmuch money;)

OK, so I looked at that and wondered how to tell you you'd done something weird with the exposure on the chocolate.......I'm not a fan of white and keep forgetting it exists!:lol: So, I suppose you thought 'white outside, may as well be white inside' (assuming you got snow, otherwise that doesn't work so well :D)

Phil, LOL at your wifes comment. Hubby is the same, he really gives me some in depth critique on my photo's :) Trouble is, he has such a good eye for composition etc, he's generally right. But it does make you try harder.

lindt chocolate + white chocolate = bliss :D Great shot Phil :)
