Daily Phil's 2013 365 challenge 1/1/2013 All Done!!!!!!!!

Hi. I'm going to sneakily put up 3 today, I will call no 1 my POTD and the other 2 back ups! Had a great day out today around the island of Lanzarote and these are from 3 different locations that we visited

No 1. Cueva de los Verdes. There is 1 km of caves underground that we had a guided tour of. This is actually a small man made lake with a narrow path along the left had side. We were told that it was a deep ravine that we had to walk along the side of and we would have no different until the guide got someone to throw a stone in. Was really well done. Iso 5000 on this and still hard to hand hold so not really sharp

Taken in the cactus gardens, I have a few nice ones of just the windmill and just the cacti but liked this too.

Looks like your having a great time over there, now when was the last time you saw blue skies like that in Ireland north or south :D I've spent all told about 3 months of my life in Ireland and probably all but about 2 weeks of that I saw very little blue :D

Thanks Matt. Lanzarote is great and yes, I have seen more blue sky in 6 days here than I did all last year at home:)

Personally really liking the cactus, the colours are just fab!

Really like the shot of the cliffs and the road

Thanks Sarah. Do you get weather similar to this in Alicante? I want to come live here!
I'm facing going home and being back cutting trees and hedges for the next few weeks in the frost and rain and it's making me depressed!

Well, it was 11° here this morning - so nearly ;) It's colder indoors than out alot in the winter.

I love the photo of the cacti - and the windmill behind them gives a bit of a surreal feeling somehow! The photo of the road really evokes being on a road trip and going ahead into the unknown and just having those couple of slightly wispy clouds in the sky makes it (the sky) more interesting. I also like your one of Cueva de los Verdes. You did a good job with that, I wasn't really able to do much with any of mine when I went to the caves in Buxton (not quite as exotic!!) apart from one which looked like a whole load of, er, naughty things!:lol:

I've really enjoyed the photos from your trip, Phil! :)

Cheers Sam. Trying to pick something to put up for today's now.

Another sunrise, sorry. Behind the resort of Playa Blanca is a big hill of black volcanic rock. I decided last night that it would be a good idea to climb to the top of this for sunrise this morning. At 6.40 this morning in black darkness with the sweat rolling off me, I thought it maybe wasn't such a good idea. Anyway, the sky was completely clear this morning so not a really colourful sunrise but I like the lights still on across the resort with the sky just starting to colour.

Spectacular, Phil. I always want to take sunrise photos, but rarely remember until the light through the windows wakes me up! :D

Wow Phil, that's beautiful!

Cheers Toni

Need to get up early Sam but it is much easier at this time of the year.

Ditto! It's a lovely shot there Phil, I can even see a couple of light trails where a few early birds are probably making their way to work!

Thanks Donnie. Lanzarote is very laid back, it was surprising how quiet the roads were even at 8.30 when I was walking back.

Lovely shot. We had no cloud this morning either and I was up to see the sun rise :(

I'm actually hoping tomorrow will be cloudy as it is the only chance I have left for a really good sunset. Needless to say, my wife is hoping for another clear bright sunny day!

Wow that is beautiful.... i wouldn't be wanting to go home either

Thanks T. Today is our last day so we better make the best of it. I have already been down to the beach to get the sunrise, we are heading down round the old town this morning and I'm intending to catch my last sunset this evening before flying home tomorrow morning.

Oh that is spectacular  with all these clear sky's have you thought about giving star trails a go while your out there

Star trails isn't something I have ever tried Matt and I'm not much good at all the processing that would be involved stacking them etc.

absolutely gorgeous again Phil ..... the only time I see sunrise is out of the window when Im at work on early shift or we are on our way home from a gig (all nighters) but we dont get to see them as nice as that one

Lots of fab shots I think the coast one on day 10 is my fav. The coast going off into the distance and the sun shining on the water... oh I so wish I was in the Canaries right now!!!

On a grey gloomy day here, that shot has just brightened up my afternoon. Think I'll go and look at it again now!

Ok, final sunset from my final day on holidays, we fly home in the morning. I missed the 1 and only really colourful sunset this week, it was the only night that there was any clouds in the sky. So this will have to do.

Oh my what a beauty!.... you've kept us all smiling whilst you've been away with such lovely shots.... and made us all rather jealous i might add:D

Hi Phil, apologies for not seeing your shots sooner, it's hard trying to keep up with some excellent shots and threads.

Your Lanzarote shots are just amazing, especially the sunset shots, I can imagine your house will soon be awash with some stunning mounted shots on the walls :).

Hope you had a good time, and the pics reminded me of my hols there a few years ago.

Thanks Simon. I'm just sitting out by the pool having a last beer or 2before heading home in the morning. It's been a great holiday photography wise, my wife has a lot to put up with ;)

How you getting on with the D7000? I'm looking at getting one this year.

I only have it less than 4 weeks and it is going back on Monday when I get home. I thought from the start that focus wasn't great especially close upload and at large apertures so I spent a while testing it over Xmas with4different lenses and it is back focusing really badly. At 50mm, f2f.8 and 3 meters distance from focus point it is over 40mm focusing behind focus point. With the Christmas and new year holidays and then me being away, iambic only getting it returned now. I don't want it replaced, I would rather it went back k to Nikon to havethe focus adjusted correctly. Otherwise it is a great camera, so much easier tks use than my old D5100.
