Love the colours in this - my garden needs working on too - hopefully the rain will hold off today and I can get out there

Thanks Sarah, i spent all day today in my garden again, trying to get ponds sorted out this time.

Phil love the eyes on your Border in Day 60 AMD WOW Day 61 , great colours

Many thanks Vince. Came across you dogs thread earlier, puts my dog shots to shame!

Bloody lovely Phil, those colours and composition are stunning!

Many thanks T, it was really a quick fill shot.

Day 62. They are at it like rabbits!

How very rude and species-ist .... they are like it like FROGS!!! Mind you, I'm the same way when I describe our neighbours :naughty: :gag:

Love the photo, great reflections in there.

I am also pretty jealous of your pond there, Phil.

Phil, I think that would be classed as a lake rather than a pond! Very impressive and it must provide plenty of photographic opportunities. Keep them coming!

Love the froggy-style 18+ image

Thanks Tim. The ponds and garden are nice to have but loads of work to keep right.

Wow - that is beautiful - and I'm so jealous of your lush green lawn - we don't really have them here!!! I'd always rather cut the grass than push the hoover round

loads of work to keep right.
This is the bit I'm worried about - guess I could start small and leave room for expansion :)

The sun and heat are your enemies when you are trying to keep a pond right. You could quickly have a hole filled with green algae and pond weed. I have a special blue dye in mine that stops sunlight penetrating the water and large parts of the surface are covered in water lillies again to cut down on sunlight. 2 pumps pump water from the big bottom pond where the fish are up to the top round pond through 2 filters and uv lights to filter waste and kill algae.

Is the pump going 24/7? I don't really want to plant trees near it, but might be able to come up with some sort of pagoda type structure.

The 2 pumps and 2 filter systems run 24/7 from the end of march to around october. After that everythin gets turned off as the fish stop eating and all the plants die back. Trees would help shade the pond from sunlight but at the same time you dont want too many leaves and stuff getting into the pond to decompose and feed the algae. I just have decking at the edge of both ponds where I can sit and have a beer and watch the fish and the swallows lifting flies and water in the evenings.

i have a feeling I might just be biting off more than I can chew  Will put it on the when I win the lottery list :D

Your garden and ponds are amazing! very beautiful!

When that win comes up you can fly me out there and I will build it for you:D

Well that's a pond! Gorgeous... I always wished I had a garden to plant things in but I doubt I'd be very good.. I struggle keeping things alive

Thanks Toni. I sometimes struggle too, everything kills the odd thing!

Day 63. Another rush job as i was running out of time and daylight and the wind was playing havoc with these blowing about constantly. Not sure how im going to continue as i just get busier and busier from now on as the days get longer.

Hi Phil, catching up again...

Great shot idea with the running woman, hehehe your poor wife suffering in the cold, all in the name of photography ;). The trout shots are just amazing to look at, and certainly not something you see often, brilliant work. Great shots of Izzy, what a gorgeous dog she is and wonderful colours in the crocuses too, great dof and well composed.

Lol liking the frog porn shot...lol...dirty beggers ;) and WOW at your garden, lovely shots, and loving the colours of the daffs, nice vibrant and comp and dof spot on too.

Lovely Daff, the bluey purple background sets it off nicely.

Beautiful colours there with the background!

Lovely colours. I'm surprised the daffs are out already!

Thanks Tim. I have quite a few out already, they are a smaller variety and seem to bloom earlier and last longer but they only grow about 10 inches tall.

Thanks for all the comments Simon.

I love the daffs, Phil - great against the colours in the background as well. :)

I love this, Phil - saw many many potential shots on my way to work this morning and was a little ticked off that I couldn't just stop and get the camera out! I like the simple composition and that fog sitting right on the ground. Is that little splodge really the sun? Impressive! :)
