Phil the Juggler's 2026_52 - Week 13 - The Night Sky

Week 6 - Looking Through
I pounced on an unsuspecting work colleague who kindly agreed to pose for this shot.

And an outtake....

In many ways I prefer the softer feel of this shot, but my first choice felt like it had more 'intent' about the looking - through. Also I can't decide if the thumb is slightly distracting in this one.

Great image Phil. Are the drops falling from the shower?

Yes - I put a white baking dish on a stool in the shower and used the head to produce the droplets. Camera was on a tripod & had a stand mounted flash gun. I had to keep adjusting the distance of the shower from the camera to 'focus' the spray,

Great idea and very well executed. The B&W processing really works.
I tend to prefer the second image, it has a more dreamy feel, but both work perfectly and I feel it is purely a personal choice.

That is very nice indeed:)

Lovely shot. A bit to tall to see without scrolling down, which spoils the effect a bit.

Thanks & good point! I've added a smaller version to the post!

It looks like I'm going to be in the minority here, but I prefer the image un-flipped.
I do still like it, there's lots of details to look at and the monochrome looks good.

Thanks for all the comments - I'm going to do some catching up on everyone else's threads soon!

This was a challenging shot as there was an extreme dynamic range between the light and the clock, hence the need for careful processing and a 3-shot HDR!

Below is a single shot - you can see how lamp's highlights are blown whilst the clock and background have no shadow detail,

I think you did well with addressing the dynamic range. I slightly prefer the tighter crop, it feels more personal.

Many thanks - the two in the main post are the same crop just different resolutions, the second shot was one of the HDR sequences to demonstrate the large dynamic range.

The light in the close cropped one reveals the textures nicely, a lovely magazine type shot

I really like the vintage guitar, great lighting and a good use of negative space.

A good piece of HDR for your time shot.
