Petrol / fuel should fall to £1 a litre before Xmas

Typical whilst I have no car!

I remember when it was 25p a gallon.
I think I can remember it being 50p a gallon.

I do recall asking the pump attendants for petrol by the gallon, or taking fuel by the gallon. Funny we all now take fuel by price, not measure :)

Stock pile some ready for when you do (y)

Not quite that here, but certainly 3 and a bit gallons for a quid (y)

edit and IIRC when it started to approach £1 gallon, it miraculously dropped to 30p / ltr :D
( or something like that anyway.)

I'll only believe it when i see it.

It was 99.9 / L here a fortnight ago.

I must do too - 'cos I remember moaning like mad when I'd to fill up the Series 2A Landrover and it had gone up to 27p

Got a friend who drives across town to fill up on fuel that is a little bit cheaper, we worked it out he saves about 80p, but he spends about £1 driving there and back

I wonder when delivery charges to the Highlands will come down to match.

My dad does that. Crazy behaviour, but hey if it makes them happy.

I hope the super stuff drops as well. It's still 107.9 here this week :(

Not much of a difference in prices where I am, certainly not worth hunting for a cheaper petrol station. People moan about the price of fuel, yet they rev their cars and will sit in a car park engine running for ages

I'm paying 30p a litre for 95RON unleaded from my local petrol station.

LOL but its a little far to travel, for a tankfull for most of us :D

Time to unfreeze the fuel price escalator

I can beat that - 4/6 1/2 a gallon when I started driving - but at the time I only earned £5 a week, and cars were far less fuel efficient so in real terms it's much cheaper today.

Yes at Sainsbury's in Colne too - went back up and came back down to 101.9 last night for petrol and 104.9 for diesel

Our local Shell station was 111.9 for diesel this morning !!!

My moneyboss filled up there yesterday + had 12p per litre off, so saved nearly £6.

I have a spreadsheet where I've worked out the distances to the local filing stations depending on where I'm starting from (home, office, town centre, camera club, rowing club, etc) and where I'm going. Then I can work out how much cheaper petrol needs to be at any given place in order to justify making a detour to it. For example, if I'm coming home from the rowing club then it's worth making the detour to Shell in Taplow if it's 1.2p/l cheaper than Esso in Furze Platt.

How sad.

Now that is dedication ;)

There are only two petrol stations within a 10 mile radius of my wife's place, and I think they're both around £1.09/litre at the moment. To get any choice of fuel, or 'supermarket' prices, involves a 40 mile round trip. Hardly worth it...

No idea what price I'm paying, I only use Shell V-Power or whatever it is, I just fill the tank.

My ex father-in-law used to do that to....... take a round trip of nearly 30 miles to save 3ppl

He also believed that his P-reg Ford Escort could defy the laws of physics and have two "economical" speeds of 56mph & 70mph. Tried subtly telling him that the manual lists those speeds as examples of expected fuel consumption but he was insistent that it was as economical at 70 as it was at 56.

For anyone who know the county of Essex, he was born & bred on Canvey Island....... You probably don't need to know any more

When I first started driving it was 3 shillings and 3 pence a gallon which in today's silly money equals just over 15p a gallon ,and back then they invented the mini because of the cost of fuel ,can also remember my dad being issued with petrol tokens because of the suez crisis

I can fill up at Morrisons or Shell, usually the same price but where as a Morrisons tank regularly gets me 470 miles until the petrol light, a Shell tank can vary between 480 & 529 miles the most I've ever squeezed out before the petrol light coming on. Hear Shell fuel is of a better quality but 59 miles, maybe it just fills the tank above where Morrisons do?

Morisson's will be the basic grade 95RON. Shell's will have additives to keep the engine clean and assist a better burn, hence the better mpg.
