Passing off other peoples work as yours ??

But why keep posting and logging off, at least stay and take part in the debate.

'I'm only staying here to see what happens next'

To be honest, I started this topic just to see what would happen, however there was a perfectly genuine feeling that certain images being shown, are in fact copies.

A resonable debate on this is possible surely, and I would have thought it was in everybody's interest. You may well disagree with my viewpoint, but if only one person stops to think it through, it has not been a total waste of time.

Cheers

EXAMPLES!!! ? :)

Gary.

Name and shame then! Or this thread is pointless! :)

While I do see this as an interesting subject for debate, I think the way inwhich you have brought it to the fore was bound to ruffle a few feathers.
Imo, a 'feeling' isnt really enough foundation to start pointing fingers ... perhaps the reason you havent highlighted any pics in particular?

For some reason you have your suspicions and if you are not going to be more forthcoming with your allegations I think the least you could do is report the 'suspect' images to the mods and at least they can try and sort it out.

Otherwise this thread is completely pointless and antagonistic.

Come on then fess up who is the naughty tog.......or is there only a suspicious member that wants to stir?

Screw it, I will start - and let me warn you as clearly as I can I HAVE NO SUSPICIONabout this image, but another memeber has a very real suspicion, and openly said so in IRC earlier. Several times. I will not name the member who raised the alarm. The member reckons its from a magazine.

Sorry Scott! Please don't shoot the messenger mate.

I think everyone is trying to decide if you are serious or "avin a larf"

ok i will say the image looks familur but i have no idea where i have seen it and nothing to say Scott didn't take it. I don't want to acuse Scott of anything and just cos something look familur doesn't mean that Scott didn't take the photo. For all i know i saw it on here.
so i have nothing more to say regarding that image. Well other than i quite like it.

Let me just explain why I posted a link to the polo pic (before I get SHOT). It was openly discussed earlier about being a copy, or potentially being a copy of a magazine image. People here have been asking for the OP to post an image which he suspects, and clearly he has issue doing this. Therefore, in a potentially stupid move, I thought as it was discussed elsewhere, and is clearly on topic, I should post another example.

G.
PS - definately regretting it now! :)

I think I have seen this image before - or very similar, but I have no idea who took it in the first place so it could quite easily have been Scott... I like the image though :)

I'm sure I have seen it used in an advert a couple of years ago Gary.

BUT

That is not to say that the tog in question has even registered that it has been done before, or he may have deliberately recreated it.

If there was a prize every time a naked woman was shot sitting backwards on a chair...........

I think this thread is as you say, playing with fire.

If you have an image, with proof, then it should be reported privately and dealt with.

If you have an image, with no proof just suspician, then you should find proof or stay quiet.

The trouble with threads like this is, even if no wrong doing has been done, once an image or name is linked to it you have instantly made a connection that people will remember that could affect an individuals future participation/work.

I think this should be shut down before it turns into a witch hunt of the photographic kind.

Just my 2p ofcourse.

I have no issues with the image, its a good un, and I have no suspicion. Again I only posted as like this thread, the topic was being discussed in the chatroom - specifically about this image.

Gary.

Don't regret it, this thread was just drifting into obscurity and I for one would rather have someone who suspects my work to not be my own let me know about it than talk behind my back.
Why should I, if I have taken an image then I can say it's mine. :D

What I thought. I would rather have it public so I can deny it as opposed to behind closed doors in the chatroom, and for people to quietly suspect me.

:nikon:

( If that doesnt tip this thread over the edge I dont know what will)

Taxi!!!!!!!!!! :exit:

When Polos are crushed in a darkened room, triboluminescence4 can be seen. This blue light5 is the result of friction between the sugar crystals when the Polos are broken. The sweet tends to crack or break along planes that are oppositely charged. When these positive and negative charges try to get back together, these charges ‘jump’ across the rift, like tiny lightning bolts.

You learn something new very day!

 Random...

To be honest, I can't bring myself to really care about this. Why should I?

The trouble with a thread like this is that it makes you feel the finger is pointed at you and that puts everyones back up and onto the defensive.

If there are suspisions about anyones work and it actually bothers you, I think PM'ing people is the way forward.

*Thanks...it took long enough :bang:

Listen guys, I have been a knob for posting the link to Scotts image, and I guess for breaching the trust of a few IRC users. I am not going to name and shame, and will gladly take what ever heat is coming my way.

Scott, I apologise for not thinking this through, and I am sorry for adding fuel to the fire.

Gary.

I once accidently said c**p in a thread. Now I see it on many avatars !!!

Am I being plagiarised? Can I claim a usage fee?

So my polo pic belongs in a magazine?, I will take that as a compliment. The image was taken for a contrast section of a City and Guilds Course, its probably is a recreation (its so hard to do anything original nowadays)

Here have some more mints !

If anyone would like any further proof please feel free to ask rather than gossip!

Regards Scott

Sweet, sorted! Excellent

Scott - you legend! Can we all just get on with some photography now :D

Eh, I would have thought just checking the Exif thing would prove what is and isn't someone's work?

Mine is too rubbish to be plagiarised, so I am safe, plus there are enough off this site in Soton that I could easily show the original RAWS :)

exif can be edited
