Parking restrictions

Why produce bubbles when you can produce tons of it when you get your new V8 X5. The problem is you'll still have nowhere to park it near your work so you can exhale yet loads more CO2 by walking a long way from where you park it to your work.

I know you like to be Eco friendly bit it's only Glasgow your polluting-it doesn't matter. Decat your V8, it'll sound great when you roar past dibble at 100mph in the Clyde tunnel

And then roaring in prison.... Actually probably not since the majority of local fauna do at least double the legal speed in the pit.

P.s. It would be inhale, (and then exhale).

I may reconsider Eco friendliness. It probably makes zero difference to me as long as I am on the opposite side of the tailpipe.

What a stupid comment. Can you imagine the carnage?

Tell you what pm me your address and I'll be along shortly to park across your driveway..

;)

Honestly, it is fine. I don't really need to imagine it has been happening everywhere in this lawless place until council ran out of money... It need not be uninhabitable overpriced hole like Boris' London.

Right okay so you mean in actual car parks not literally on every bit of public land..

Can we assume from this very vague rant that your free parking has become chargeable like most other normal people in the country have to put up with?

Not really chargeable - unavailable is a better word. There will be empty streets with just a few cars in between and a few smiling councilors. Bastards. Btw I wouldn't consider this normal nor acceptable. If you consider that journey to work has to be prolonged, painful, expensive and masochistic I can only congratulate bloody council where've you live.

You chose where to work.

Did anyone tell me about this? No.

I may consider the loudest and smelliest motorbike for the final mile or two. Sparking exhaust would be great

Eco friendliness is over rated. Once your charging along in your 4.4 x5 on a tidal wave of torque and power you'll not give a care in the world for it .

Like guns, big engined cars are great.

Man this gets more cryptic by the second..

Can I assume you were parking in a (residential?) street for free up until recently?

TBH I've read this thread a few times now, and still don't actually know what the original subject was about either

you can, and it was really pleasurable and convenient. Most of Glasgow would agree with me here.

As a resident with on street parking in a busy city in a former life I'd like to say:

Good luck driving anywhere yourself Mr... . your car is now just a shiny toy; you may as well use that remaining diesel for heating the house.

I will honestly find an annoying way not to give in and will NOT pay a penny for influenza infested SPT or parking.

P.S. The annual season of influenza and ebola is on its way. Good luck to those stuck on the bus.

I'm failing to see your argument.

I use my car when and where I want, Southampton has some affordable all day parking without cluttering up residential areas with abandoned cars from people who are too self obsessed to pay a few quid or search for an alternative solution.

I avoid paying for parking when I drove and will drive. I'd be a bit miffed if I could park someplace FOC and some chippy labour politician changed it just to make life harder for me and more expensive for those who live and visit the area.

There's only one thing lift, a big x4 4.4i with windae tints

You're assuming a lot there. I'll make an assumption of my own and suggest residents will get their own permits.

Either way you haven't lived until you've had to park 0.5m from your front door because the local employees of various businesses are clogging up the streets where they've all driven in (separately).

Anyway, pointless thread ahoy.. I'm out.

Not much free parking were I live, used to be loads at one time. But over the last few years, lines painted everywhere and paying parking bays in most residential streets now.

Tons of free parking around here :) :)

Tons of free parking around here :) :)

Be sure that won't stay for long and as a resident you will still pay for it.

It seems that unless you drive brand new 5-series BMW or equivalent and have money sticking from the pocket you can't go / are no longer welcome anywhere

That's one heck of a huge tree you are carrying on your shoulder

What the hell does the make of car have to do with being able to park?

I bet the residents of the streets where you used to park don't think it is a problem.

Have you thought about moving somewhere remote @daugirdas ?

...perhaps with no internet access... ;)

It is your choice to participate in this thread and for some reason you keep coming back!

P.S. When I park a big smoky SUV the residents will definitely tell a difference. Hopefully bloody council will too.

Why are you so anti the poor residents?

So if you had a new BMW (other makes of tossermobile are available) do you think the residents would welcome you with open arms? OR do you think that they are hacked off with whoever is parked outside their house all day?

Don't like it? Then change where you work/live or just keep the stress levels so high you end up having a heart attack. Problem solved.

New tossermobile (TM) and mandatory excess cash in the pocket would mean the tosser is happy to dump £55 for parking in the most expensive place around, and some more for valeting and then some tip. I wouldn't mind being such tosser, but sadly I'm not on £300+k pa.

SUVs are great for driving over speed bumps, polluting around council halls and ensuring everyone around respect you leaving ample space. I can also sleep in it if I'm too tired to drive home.

It will be spring before I can (and will) relocate.

SPT Park & Ride. £5 for all day parking + a return ticket. What's not to like?

1. £1300 per year extra. That is my 70-200 f/2.8 II gone
2. Influenza on board
3. extra 30 min each way including detour, parking, waiting, etc (double journey time)
4. council defeats me.
5. I would be better off in London in that case. That is a horrible thing to admit.

So no chance in hell of this happening. I think I'd more happily work nights and sleep during the day.

Dear God you must live a miserable life. Is there anything that you don't complain about?

and it will be 3x more miserable from October. I hope I somehow survive this winter; may have to use this forum a lot to vent myself. :)

This is probably where you lot just get drunk and wasted every weekend / night after work at a great expense and pretend all is good and then bend over for more. As Dostoevsky wrote idiots are the happiest people; a healthy dose of narcotic substances can certainly help to go that way... However, I don't think that's for me, so my anti-council rants will continue. At least I don't live in London, Syria or Ukraine.

Won't be happening for me.
Room for four cars on the drive and no street parking :-)

Big assumption there, I don't get drunk or wasted or indeed spend my life moaning on the Internet
if you had spelled out properly what your grief was I might have had some sympathy!

Sounds like you deserve to be miserable, roll on October.

Why does driving am upmarket German car make you a tosser? Is this car envy.

I doubt the residents will line this. It's free to park where the OP does, the permits will have quite a cost to them. A real lose lose situation.

I love BMWs, Mercedes and Audi. I've yet to win an Audi. I will soon though ;)

I rest my case........

Just using my own experience whilst driving that if there is a tosser about they are:-

...usually male.

...tend to favour the above marques.

Certainly not car envy on my part as I would rather spend my money in other ways. ;)

To be fair I would be annoyed if after parking free outside my own home the local council decided to charge. Unfortunately councils government and a heck of a lot of employers use the recession and crash to make changes to raise extra revenue from Joe public. I work in the NHS and am having my shift pattern changed to work 6 days in a row and after a 1% pay rise for the last 3yrs. It's life and very little you can do short of emigrating.

Regarding parking, try sending them the letter below.:)

STATUTORY
DECLARATION

I (your name) of (address) do solemnly and sincerely declare that: (insert PCN reference number) claimants (councils address) All and any previous responses
replies answers appeals defences and or other should be disregarded ignored and replaced with the contents of this statuary declaration.
Any implied presumed or assumed agreement and or contract with claimants is hereby rescinded denied revoked ab initio.
Any implied presumed assumed general and or special and or exclusive and or executive power of attorney under which and or with which the claimants have acted and or acting and or intend to act as by and or for (your name) is hereby rescinded denied revoked ab initio.
Any implied presumed assumed rights of usufruct under which and or with which the claimants have acted and or are acting and or intend to act is hereby denied revoked ab initio.
The claimants have committed acts of fraud by false representation in direct contravention of the Fraud Act 2006 sections (1) through (5) and The Misrepresentation Act 1967 sections (1) through (3) and it is now for a director and or executive of the claimants to prove otherwise by way of Statutory Declaration deposed under penalty of perjury.
At no time have I consented to the proceeding of a private arbitration court and or tribunal, and any assertion to the contrary is denied ab initio placing the burden of proof upon the claimants.
The Bill of Rights 1689 states.
“that all grants and promises of fines and forfeitures of particular persons before conviction are illegal and void.”
It is my understanding that the Bill of Rights is a constitutional Statue and my not be repealed impliedly.
The Claimant has no lawful authority to demand money for allegations which have not been dealt with by a Court of Law.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declarations Act 1835.

Dated

Signed

That is it, now go to the commissioner for oaths to depose the declaration make a few certified copies costing around £2 each Keep hold of the original but post one of the copies to each of the parties involved and post a copy to your local Magistrates Court for good measure.

I bet the residents of the streets where you used to park don't think it is a problem.
Bristol is in the process of introducing controlled parking zones across much of the city, converting the existing unrestricted on street parking into a mix of meters and resident permit. A lot of the residents are very unhappy about it.

Sorry Daugirdas, is there any chance you could just say what you are on about?

I'm guessing the local council have made some area's of town a no-parking zone for some reason (possibly safety or complaints from residents etc) and this is impacting you somehow?
Your solution seems to involve spending money on an expensive to run car just so it would pollute the town you work in a little more, in the hope of upsetting the local council but you seem to be complaining about an extra parking cost which you can't afford

Of course I could of got the complete wrong end of the stick here as your not really making much sense, sorry, no offence intended I just don't understand your issue. Please explain without any cryptic clues.

Yes if I'm being tailgated for sticking to the speed limit the tosser involved is usually driving an Audi
