Panasonic Lumix LX7 Thread

This camera looks excellent, I know it's mainly down to the user as well, but it does seem to produce the goods picture quality wise

Been looking for a compact this week after moving the 40D on as I wasn't taking it out and this thread pushed me to the LX7 which arrived today

Lovely and sharp Phil! By all accounts I nearly had an lx7 today but mrs came home with an rx100 as none in stock!..she treated me big time today.

Noooooooooooooo then I'll be the only poster lol.

I had a problem with one of my D7000's and ended up just getting a new body.

If I didn't use the LX7 for high speed video I'd probably get a X20 tbh.

All depends on DigitalRev Phil. We'll see!

Found out something really cool today and very useful for street photography!

The LX7 can remember your last zoom position!

Its amazing! I set it to about 35mm equivalent today and would turn on for the shot, turn off to save battery power and when I turn on its back to 35mm making this camera a zoom/prime hybrid!

Well happy with thay find.

I became a bit of an LX7 evangelist. If you search Flickr for LX7 or Lumix LX7 then sort the results by "interesting" you'll see the top 3 images are mine. I really don't think I'd have bought it if I'd known what problems I was going to have with it.

That sucks man. You should have traded it in though - sounds like you've been unlucky with your model.

I thought the same about the D7000 but after having enough of it's focus problems I demanded a new one. No problems again.

Absolutely gutted to read this! Have been stalking this thread since my beloved P300 died and thought that this would be the perfect camera. Will have to investigate further. Sarah

Phil may be right, it may just be that I have a rogue model. What's worse is that neither Panasonic's UK nor HK repairers have been able to ascertain or remedy the fault mine has.

It's easy to come up with the worst case scenario in your head which is usually, the most unlikely :)

I'm what you might call a fickle photographer as far as gear is concerned.

I've had three LX7's, yes three, nothing wrong with any of them, and have just ordered my forth.

I got rid of them because they were not getting used, no other reason, it's a brilliant camera......IMVHO

Never know I might just keep this one.

If you buy from Amazon you have 28 days to return it.

BTW....IMVHO don't waste money on the EVF at £200+ it's just not worth it, sent those back too...:)

Phil looks like you maybe losing your wingman. .you on a recruitment mission?
