I'm not sure a mirrorless camera is the best bet for snapping high speed children to be honest
That's where a DSLR comes into its own.
I have to say I've never found the 20/1.7 to be a fast focusing lens, its got a bit of a reputation for it!Lol, sorry for ruining your sleep woof woof! Although, the fly probably looked uglier when it was alive!
I agree that a DSLR is better for fast AF work but I still find that I get considerably more keepers with the Nex/18-55 than I would with the 20/1.7. My kids are 5 and 2 so although not exactly sluggish I'd expect the AF of most kit to keep up.

Yep, agreed... Lovely lens but damn, it's slow. Keeping mine for now thochrism_scotland said:I have to say I've never found the 20/1.7 to be a fast focusing lens, its got a bit of a reputation for it!
Guys is the 12-35mm weather proof?
Pana describe it as "dust-proof and splash-proof" and mention a "lens mount rubber" to improve the dust-proofing and splash-proofing.
I use my dads g3 from time to time but I am not convinced on its handling. So held off buying one as this would be a long term investment. Photokina will be interesting though as the rumours state the gh2 replacement is due then. Still undecided on what mirrorless to go for. I was hoping the g5 would leap out at me and make my mind up! Will have to wait and see.
I am guessing it will have a premium price tag too!!
Just been reading about the new G5.
It seems to have some upgrades that just don't interest me, eye sensor? I'd turn it off and leave it off. Vid improvements? No thanks.
I was interested to read that it has what they're claiming is a "new" sensor... or maybe an "improved" G3 sensor... it seems to vary depending upon what I read. This is the sort of "upgrade" that interests me and I'll be interested to see the reviews but it seems to me that Panny are lagging so far behind the Nex and OMD that unless they have made a real attempt to catch up with the G5 and new GH in respect of DR I wont be interested. To me the limited DR is the biggest weakness of the camera I have now and I'm really hoping for Panny to improve in this area and I'm not interested in buying a new camera unless it moves DR on.
Woof Woof, I've seen you post a few times about the issues you have with FBW and no focus distance markings on the Panasonic lenses. Why don't you just use legacy glass instead of feeling limited with the MF abilities of Panasonic glass?
I think the CSC lenses need to make some compromises for both size and cost, the FBW being one of them.
I have held a G3 and again the handling is not good. I much prefer the G2

. . . 'Full circle', 'different for the sake of it' and 'me to', comes to mind?
OK Panasonic 14-42 PZ lens now installed, only been around the garden up till now . . . I'm happy, picture quality seems similar to the standard 14-45mm.
