I've had a day from hell at work, but I've decided to sell all my Canon gear, that's it!

Go for it!! Do u know why your going to get?

The 45mm is drawing my in. Would love the 25 but its so damn expensive.

I'd like to sell my Canon stuff but the odd wedding a year and portrait job leaves me thinking I have to keep it all.

Thanks folks, selling the Canon gear will pay for the OMD plus I'll probably get the 7-14mm too, then i'll save the rest :)

Is the GF3 with a 14mm a good buy / quality kit these days? Always been tempted by the M 4/3. Love the G3 but that is out of my price range

Yep, the prices they've been going for recently with the Panny cashback is silly low... As someone said you're getting a GF3 kit for less than the list price of the lens it comes with :bonk:

I think it's a very good buy. It's so cheap. £200 after cashback.

It's such a small package too so easily taken places

Does anyone have issues with the GX1 underexposing? I find the camera seems to underexpose most of the time and I end up dialing in 1 stop of exposure compensation.

It also seems to have a habit of setting the shutter speed to 1/60 when using Auto ISO and Aperture priority which I find gives camera shake with the 20mm.

Any ideas? :(

Anyone?

Sorry buddy, can't help on that one as I don't have the GX1. I've not heard of that issue before, but then I haven't been looking into it.
Have you tried asking the question on one of the dedicated M4/3 forums where there might be more GX1 users?

Not had any underexposure issues with my GX1

Better IQ, handling, DOF, ISO etc
Better IQ, ISO, DoF - yes, it is a bigger sensor and all of those are improved with a bigger sensor (which the GF3 has). Whether it is "vastly" is a personal opinion. Handling is personal choice too.

Would the GF3 be vastly superior to a Canon SX 220 HS

If it helps at all...

I have a Canon Ixus which is frankly rubbish and a LX5 which is I think one of the better "compacts" and my GF1 and G1 pictures are vastly superior to both.

Well hubby and I decided to get a m4/3rds to use when we are dog walking, or just going somewhere where we don't want to be bogged down with all our Nikon kit.
We have been very impressed with the reviews and sample images we have seen of the new OMD, but decided to have a look around.
Long story short, due to the £50 cashbacks you can get at the moment, plus some very good deals on bodies and lenses, we have today become proud owners of a G3, and two lenses, the Lumix 14-140mm and 100-300mm!!
Just beginning to get our heads round the different functions, but have already had some lovely images straight out of the camera, with the only settings being changed were exposure compensation.
We had read that Panasonic JPEG's were lacking, but our dogs, and a very obliging Blue Tit seem to suggest those reports are wrong!
So two very happy bunnies here. I have been so excited about the combo today, because it's so tiny and yet comfortable to use and hold.
Hope to join this thread more often in the future :)

raw without jpeg is a way to see the difference if you have software to convert...come to think of it...why do raw if you have to convert????

ahah..its in the processing i think...i have 3 suites which like raw and give really good results...so i think
lghtroom 3 is my current and i favour that immensely
cheers

raw is there to be converted and to have that original file you can do whatever you want + has much greater latitude for it .

I've always used RAW but have started to convert on import into Lightroom to DNG.
They are still as maleable as RAW but the files not as big for keeping.

Evening all. Not been on the site for ages, but am still using my GF1 and 14mm combo for my regular forays into the Welsh hills. Here's one from today's bimble in the Brecon Beacons. A four portrait shot pano with minimal PP. Polariser used.

Cracking image, detail captured is really impressive

A good example of what the GF1 is capable of:thumbs:

Here we go, my first time of picking up the G1 since September last year. I had to force myself . . . walking the dog on the local field, nothing interesting so wild flowers was the only option, the dog finds the field smells fascinating. The thing I like is the ability of the 14-45 lens, it is so sharp, I hope the colours are right, I have a new 24" Dell monitor that has only been set up on auto colour?

These were selected as the best from 20 pictures, fairly basic I suppose, but as I say that sharpness gives me a buzz, looking forward to having ago with the Raynox 250 in the back garden. Felt a bit strange to start with, but soon got back in the swing . . . feels like starting over, forgotten a lot of how the menu and buttons work on the G1, old age setting in!! Dog started to get bored, I was not moving on quickly enough . . .

A few more just to show what the GF1 + 20mm is capable of! The only camera i I took with me on my trip to Berlin last week. Apprehensive at it being perhaps the first trip my SLR didn't go on due to only taking hand luggage for the almost 2 week trip, but I was certainly not disappointed.

The combination wows me every time! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight alternative to an SLR or a first foray into Digital Photography. But of course you all already know that!!

Great results Nick, these should put any doubters minds at rest as to what the GF1. / 20mm. and M4/3 in general is capable of!.
