37425 "Concrete Bob" with a test train at Carlisle yesterday.
Built in 1965 and still going strong!

I think 1965 certainly counts as vintage.

Personally I prefer the colour versions, because the loco's colour scheme is so distinctive.

Do you know if there is a story behind the name?

Yes - the other name for it (on the other side) is Sir Robert McAlpine

A beautiful old beast. The mono works well for it.

(Just a note, but your link in the main pic thread doesn't seem to bring you here)

Ta Nick.

Link tweaked :)

What Alan said :).

Colour for me I think though all good, so a train with 2 different name plates must be quite unusual?

It's a Tom Jones job. It's not unusual :coat:

Gotta love a tractor, and the coaches are from 64-75 or so aren't they, so they also qualify as vintage.
I prefer the B&W version as the yellow of the test train is a bit distracting.
I have to appreciate the regional railways livery too, given that we now have a Sprinter in that livery at the MHR :)

It's mad to think, isn't it, that those tractors date from the mid 60s so have around 60 years of service. Far longer than a lot of the last classes of steam under British Railways. Some are still going strong whilst we are seeing sheds being scrapped.

Yep - they've earned their keep many times over!

Mono and colour both work equally well. I thought I might see an old train as your image.

Well - I did photograph another old TIME train that was running on TIME but settled for a more obvious take,

Kendal Town Hall clock. Photographed at ten to two. The proper official TIME for clock shots.

I like the way the foreground building leads you in to the clock tower, really nice composition. And that sky is the icing on the cake.

Thanks Nick :)

I really like how dramatic the clouds are in the background, you got the smiley face too!
Thanks Simon :)

10 to 2 is the law for clock shots :)

Great b&w, lots of different tones and textures and the sky isn't half bad either.

Yep - a good strong image bang on theme.
