Oscar Pistorius 'shoots girlfriend'

Heard this on the news this morning.

Gives him another event to have a go at in the next Olympics I suppose.

Another bloke who shot his load too early at the sight of a beautiful woman.

IF he did it, and it was an accident then its quite sad..

They had a reporter from SA on Today at just after 7 this morning, she said it's not without precedent and there have been a few cases of people shooting loved ones thinking they were burglars due to the high crime rate and widespread handgun ownership.

This maybe true, but as I said in my original post - you check your bed first don't you?

If the bed is partner-less, it's bloody likely that the noise coming from the kitchen is going to be them and not an intruder.

what happens if they do not live together and she was 'creeping' in to surprise him?.....Why would he need to check the bedroom/bed if he believes he was the only person in 'da house'?

I am glad you are not my solicitor/detective working on the case.

Its pretty common to be disorientated after being woken up, plus if you felt threatened I'm not sure your first thought would be to check the bed.

Ah, yes this maybe true. I was under the impression they lived together.

Blimey. Police investigating reports of screaming & shouting before the shooting. There is also some history of domestic unrest.

Madness.

I wonder if he was drunk and legless?

Roses are red

Don't try to surprise

Or maybe just a low down bum :exit:

LBC news said that South African police know nothing about the accidental shooting story. He is being charged with murder.

It appears that he has been charged with murder, so the story is coming along in leaps and bounds.

I'm just amazed he didn't run off up the road after the gun fired....

Yes really. Have you lost a loved one and can I make fun about it?

Yes I have Neil....at at times even I can laugh about it. It's human nature.

*Edit*.......and yes the person in question was also unlawfully killed.

I've told some bad taste joke in my time, but for a murder? Lets not forget the girls family..

Neil, I agree with what you say about the family, but I don't think anyone is being deliberately disrespectful to them, it the human condition to react with a some degree of humour to such shocking news.

However, having said that, as the jokes are SO groan worthy, we should possibly move on from them now ...pleeeeease! ;)

He is in court at 2pm [cant remember which time zone SA is in, not so different to us?] after which more information may be released, or maybe not, so do be careful with any speculation peeps.

2.50 in Pretoria right now Yv :)

.

not to mention that the chances of any of the girls family happening to be browsing a photo forum right now are infintesimally small

Yv .. SA is gmt+2

I'm one of those people who can't joke about something as tragic as this.
And why are people assuming that he is guilty anyway? We just don't know.
