Operation stack

Google Earth "Get Directions" says that is the quickest route by road from Ankara to Calais.
Well, well, well, you learn something everyday...Just tried it on:

Google Maps - Default one is as you say, 33hrs, yet it also shows a quicker one which is the one I had in mind, odd it didn't select it.
Bing Maps - Does the same as google
Nokia Here - Does the same once again

I wouldn't...Anyhow, the fast majority stay in Germany as it is...

In my posts in this thread I have not written anything negative about these people only the fact that the journey they make takes them through many countries.

What is your problem with this ?

????? I don't understand what on earth you are on about. I have no problem with what you wrote other than that I wouldn't take that route.

with due respect, the "t" is missing, it is Manston airport associated with WW2 like nearby Tangmere

the situation does raise the question as to why these people are so desperate to enter the UK, from televised comments from them, they seem to think that once having entered the UK, they will receive citizenship, housing and other aid.automatically No concept that they might be deported

Part of the confusion around the issue is that some who are in fact migrants are claiming to be asylum seekers

The origins of the problem seem to be those who are willing to pack migrants into unseaworthy craft and dump them on EU shores.

while there is much I like about France and the French, blaming Britain for this situation is ridiculous

I'd like to know how they got as far as Calais in the 1st place, is that the only border the French control?

Not just France. All the other Eu countries they have travelled through.
They don't have passports in most cases so why are the French not arresting them for being illegal immigrants.
Give this time - next thing the French will do is to give them French passports so they will have a right to travel to here.

As far as I can glean, it is to house the overflow from the motorway queue.

Look for some land nearby and but it. It will soon be needed to hold the Manston overflow.

What "overflow"?
What phase of stack will it kick in?

That'd certainly solve the French problem wouldn't it? ;)

I love how the lazy French strikers are whipping up the camps and stirring, now the world is blaming the immigrants, when infact it is the embedded strikers.

I heard this on the news earlier, so its the lorry drivers fault after all!
I bet the government are rubbing their hands with all this extra "tax" flooding in"
http://www.kentonline.co.uk/dover/news/fines-triple-for-lorries-carrying-41145/

Truckers caught carrying the stowaways into the UK have seen their penalties more than triple since 2012.
Home Office figures show more than 3,300 fines were issued in 2014/15 - that's an increase of more than 50% on the previous year.
With fines as high as £2,000 per migrant - levied against the driver and their employer - the total bill for UK haulage firms can run into millions.

Makes perfect sense,Manston is so handy for the M20.

On the up side, it'll stop those in Thanet sniggering to themselves every time Stack kicks in! :sneaky:
