Is it the crack in the movement back plate, I know its obvious but is it something else

Is the kinetic mechanism damaged beyond repair or is it a simple replacement job?
I'm amazed that it cracked in the first place.

I can't believe you guys cannot spot a fake when you see one.
My mate brought me a real one back from a hol in Thailand.

It's actually on the rotor, but yes
The rest of the watch is wrecked too...seems they don't like stone floors, especially when they are thrown onto them![]()
Is it a write off?
I have a small chip in the crystal which I'm ignoring as I really don't what to know how much that will cost. I hate to think what that sort of damage costs.
I'd says so the case is damaged and the movement is u/s. I've got it for spares and like you I've got a chip in the crystal on mine, it's minute, but it's there, so I was going to use the one from this to replace it as Rolex will only fit a new crystal as part of a service, so you're looking at the guts of £500. Unfortunately the one of this watch has a scratch on it, so it's not really any better than the one I've got :bang:
There is a firm in America which fits sapphire crystals to replace the old acrylic lenses. They only charge a couple of hundred dollars tops including cleaning and pressure testing.
I have a small scratch on this one too but you can only see it if you really look for it. I don't know when the chip appeared but that is tiny also. The watch has a pretty hard life as I rarely take it off whatever I'm doing, I should probably get it serviced in the next couple of years.
It doesn't look like a big job to do, all you need is the right press. This one is an acrylic crystal model - it's only 3 years old :shake:
I hope that's not your watch!
I would have thought being thrown on to a floor wouldn't cause this kind of damage, or any for that matter. Unless it was thrown out of a multi-story building
I didn't realise they were still using acrylic 3 years ago, does it depend on the model?
Mine is 4 years old.
Flash, are you a watch repair-man, or is this just a hobby too?

I'm amazed that the counterweight has cracked!
Could you not in theory just remove the counterweight and just use the mechanism as manual wind only?

Battery? Nod, dude, what battery?
Oddly my watch is missing it's battery too, but I can't understand how it still manages to work
