Thanks Trevor. It's a nice lens but it's too easy to get it wrong.I need to `like‘. this twice. That’s a great shot.

Thank you Stephen! It’s always good to have some feedback from real life users, and especially people you know. I certainly like the ones you’ve posted today, but of course a lot is down to the photographer!Hi Marcia. although I've no experience of either camera, I do have the OM3, which has the same innards as the OM1 II. To say I'm impressed is an under-statement.
.... I replaced one of my two E-M1X with a OM-1 ('mk1') but the control dials are randomly very sticky and the issue has not been resolved even by sending to OM Portugal. Both hubby and myself have OM1’s, and they are mostly used for birds, dragonflies, and general wildlife. Given the £500 cashback on the OM1 MK2 at the moment, has anyone upgraded from an OM1 to an OM1 MK2, and have you found the upgrade beneficial for our type of photography please? I have done a search but came up blank! Many thanks, Marcia
.... I assume you are referring to my reported problem about random extremely sticky (sometimes stuck!) Control Dials, Jeff. And as yet I’ve never had this problem with my mki . From online observations I think it tends to effect the first early batch of mki cameras not the later ones once they knew of the problem
@RedRobin.... I assume you are referring to my reported problem about random extremely sticky (sometimes stuck!) Control Dials, Jeff.
Mine was one of the first delivered in the UK and in March 2024 OM helped the problem in their repair department in Portugal but the issue has returned. So I will be sending it to them again. Meanwhile, thank goodness I kept one of my trusty E-M1X bodies! E-M1X + 50-200mm F/2.8 Pro is currently my most frequently used combo.
So subject to what OM Portugal manage this time, I am waiting for a OM-1 Mk3 (after physically checking out the dials!) or ideally a E-M1X Mk2 which is very unlikely to happen.
.... Selling one of my two E-M1X to offset the cost of the OM-1 ('mk1') was exactly why I did it.@RedRobin
So if I upgrade to the OM1 MK2 (as I aspire to doing) you'd recommend keeping the EM1X and not sell it to offset the cost?
.... Hi Terry, I think you'll find that Fforde's used OM-1 Mk2's range in price according to condition, the most expensive being 'Mint' followed by 'Excellent'.Cheers Robin.
Yes I bought my EM1 MK2 from Fforbes.
Still saving at the moment and I'll go for a grey one when I go for it.
Fforbes' used OM1 MK2's are more expensive than a grey new one.
I agree with this 100%.at the moment cotswold cameras are taking the Mickey out of u.k prices and also offering a 3 year u.k warranty . my recent lens purchase has boosted this opinion of them fully tracked by DPS EXPRESS from Hong Kong to the door in 8 days and a £400+ saving .. my lad has also used them in the last month with similar results and saved over 4k on u.k prices camera and lenses
.... VERY interesting indeed! And especially to me because every Sunday I shoot usually between 1,000 and 2,000 RAW images of women's football ~ I am an independent "Staff" (they tell me) photographer for a club with two Ladies teams over 16yo. Plus I have replaced my 40-150mm F/2.8 Pro with the new 50-200mm F/2.8 Pro and I love how it further enables me and it's not just extra reach.
One person even likened the mk2 dials to being like the E-M1X

I've been sent here from elsewhere on the forum where they have advised me this could be the camera for me.
Am I able to ask questions here or start a new thread?
Many thanks
Dave
Thanks a quick Google also confirmed thatYes they are in my experience.
So after a writing a harsh message to them on FB messenger, I suddenly get a reply from them.I am getting a bit peed off with OM, sent 2 customer service requests via their web site. First one is over the 5 days they quoted for a response.
No phone number and not replying to FB messenger, which they have done before.
Wish I had gone down the Cotswold route, I only went with OM this time as their prices were the same as Cotswold. But won’t bother in future
Thank you. On my original post I stated that I have a 500£ budget, perhaps a small amount more. Currently saving for an OM1 MK2 and 90mm macro.I had a OM-D E-M1 Mark II and 60mm macro lens.
I sold it because it was very small and quite awkward to use.
Looking through the images I took with it, I'd like to get another OM camera and was thinking of the OM-1, possibly MkII and 90mm macro.
Is the OM-1 a different beast or much of the same layout, menus usability etc as the E-M1 MkII? Would it be a notable improvement over the E-M1 MkII?
Also I know the 60mm macro was very affordable and gave good results, is the 90mm macro a major step up as well?
I'll only be using the system for macro work.
.... If you'll only be using the OM system for macro work, then their 90mm Macro is absolutely a no-brainer!I had a OM-D E-M1 Mark II and 60mm macro lens.

.... Exactly that. Although to be fair the Olympus 60mm Macro was designed and introduced more than 10 years ago.I thought this also about the 60mm,that spring loaded rotating dial needs updated to something else.

BTW, I love your Instagram page! Beautiful lighting and processing and great choice of models ~ Very tasty indeed! [said with my 'retired-but-hardwired' professional art director's hat on].
.... Absolutely ~ The 60mm Macro delivers great results but just not in my hands! Too many shots missed by me with it.It still produces great images even with it's age and awkward design.
Thanks very much, my Instagram has been neglected for quite some time and I really should update it. I'm just not as active in portrait photography as before.

These look great Mike, I’ve not had much time lately together out with my gear as I’ve been a bit busy.Got out with the OM1 and 300f4 yesterday - some nice light for a change and I'm happy with the shots but still missing the flexibility of a zoom...
