Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

Can anyone recommend where i can get a data cable to transfer firmware updates, lost mine I did buy one from eBay last week which was supposed to fit but didn't, thanks.

What type of cable for which camera?

I'd imagine Amazon would have loads if you know what you need.
 
Sorry its an om5 and on amazon they seem a bit thin on the ground.

Micro-USB on OM5 Mark 1 and USB-C on OM5 Mark 2

That's one reason they made the Mark 2, as in the UK now all USB connections have to be USB-C

I used this method to update my E-M5 ii, worked a treat. SD Card Firmware Update
No idea why Olympus/OM System insist on using such a convoluted and risky method.
Often see reports of bricked cameras for one reason or another
Panasonic have always been updated via SD card, never had a problem updating my cameras
 
Hi haven't forgotten you guys , to say thank you for all your help ,waiting for cable at the moment then will let you know, full of brain fog each day at the moment after physical therapy almost out of this wheelchair now,thanks.

Anyone have the 100-400mm Mark2 who previously had the Mark1 and can pass on their opinion whether they think it’s a decent improvement ie sharpness at the long end etc or nothing noticeable.
I see the Mark2 seems to have become more available now and I’m tempted.
I have the 300F4, a very nice sharp lens but I do miss a long zoom.

Thinking along the same lines myself at the moment , results look good

IMHO I think it's at least £500 overpriced.
I still think it should be comparable in price (I'll concede plus a little bit for the slightly extended reach) to the big three 70-200 f/2.8 lenses.
And it's not - it's significantly more. This may reflect the much lower sales volumes that OMDS can expect though. Given this, the price may well just be what OMDS users have to pay.
Wonder what it will be selling for in a year's time?

I think the drop in sharpness, af speed etc would be noticeable tbh. The 6.5k big zoom lens can only just get close to the 300mm sharpness so the 100-400 is going to be way off really.
 
Hopefully it will impact on used prices of the excellent 40-150 f 2.8 lens

Just ordered the mkii so will let you know when it arrives and i get a chance to use it.
