I get that bitYou have 4 options available my choices are c1 static birds C2 b.i.f .. C3 macro not sure you need any more but perhaps C4 for video
According to OMS themselves you should NOT use TRK with bird I.d as they act against one another . It’s one or the other your choiceI get that bit
for my b.i.f I have FN lever 1 set to C-AF+TR with bird detect, All Points and on lever position 2 I have C-AF with 25 points
I use BBF so that is my S-AF
For my Static birds I only have C-AF+TR+MF with 1 point, and spot metering which should be tied to the AF point

I have a EM1x, how do you use Bird Detect without TRK?According to OMS themselves you should NOT use TRK with bird I.d as they act against one another . It’s one or the other your choice
Ah the info was for a om1 as far as I’m aware the e.mix / om1 / om1mkii are all different in there approach to using bird I.d and trkI have a EM1x, how do you use Bird Detect without TRK?
I have seen a Video by Espen Hellend where he mentions it, but not how to, I have done many google searches to no Avail

Blue-tailed Damselfly, Isle of Man by Pete, on Flickr

We moved west into the Rockies, birding is a bit slower here due to altitude and temperature (most of the lakes are at least partially frozen still). As promised, some landscapes; most have been taken on the OM-1 in HHHR:

Puffins on Staffa by Stephen Lee, on FlickrHeavy, expensive, do you NEED f1.2 over f1.8?Someone talk me out of the 17 mm F1.2 Pro please.

I was looking at one from Cotswold around £570Don't buy it. It's crap.
That's a good price for a good lens.I was looking at one from Cotswold around £570
I don't have any primes. I have the 8-25 F4 Pro. 12-40 F2.8 Pro V2 and the 40-150 F2.8 Pro.That's a good price for a good lens.
But will you need a 1.2 aperture?
That doesn't answer the question.I don't have any primes. I have the 8-25 F4 Pro. 12-40 F2.8 Pro V2 and the 40-150 F2.8 Pro.
Not sure I need it but could be useful to have something in the bag. I'm off to Marrakech I'm August so thought it might come in handy in the MedinaThat doesn't answer the question.
Will you need that f1.2 aperture for low light?
If not get the f1.8.
If you're buying it for the bokeh then save your money, it won't give you much on M4/3.
If you're thinking about low-light, remember you can go high on ISO without losing much. Nobody will criticise you for a so-called "noisy" photo but they may if you miss focus because of razor-tight depth of field. Not sure I need it but could be useful to have something in the bag. I'll just use HHHR mode if needed as that helps a lot with noiseIf you're thinking about low-light, remember you can go high on ISO without losing much. Nobody will criticise you for a so-called "noisy" photo but they may if you miss focus because of razor-tight depth of field.

Apparently it's a Spotted Flycatcher. It’s a SBJ. Small Brown Jobby.
Its not a spot fly. The pattern of the leading edge of the wing looks the same as a wren but that angle is very confusing. If you held a gun to my head I would say wren.Apparently it's a Spotted Flycatcher.
But you're also correct Stephen.
The 17mm f/1.8 is considerably smaller and lighter for travel (and cheaper!). It easily slips into a pocket. Also the 45mm f/1.8 though mine isn't as sharp as my 17mm f/1.8. I know others have differing opinions on which is sharper. Not sure I need it but could be useful to have something in the bag. I'm not too worried about the bokeh as I'm currently tossing up canon Vs Sony for my return to FF
