Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

While I have a bit of GAS, anyone using the Kase magnetic filters and what do you think?
Hi, I started off with the kase wolverine filters a while back and had no issue with those at all, even stacking cpl and nd had no colour casts or vignetting that I noticed, in the past couple of months I’ve moved over to the kase armour system with the square filters and again I’ve had no issues at all. I’ve still kept the wolverine set for when I want to travel light and just keep those in the bottom of the backpack.

I think my issue is that I want a set but don't know if i need a set if you see what i mean.

I already have a cpl i bought from amazon which was a K&F Concept 62mm Polarising Filter Ultra Low Reflection Circular Polarizing CPL, Ultra Definition, 28 Layer Multi Coated Polarized MRC Filter (Nano-X Series) and i've not even tried the inbuild ND filters in the OM1 Mk2 yet.

That was my first stumbling block with them especially with so much being possible in lightroom etc now I guess for me I like to get the image as close to perfect as possible to start with and I also enjoy the process of setting everything up etc. it’s just the cpl which isn’t something you can recreate in post.
Unfortunately I haven’t tried the om1 so I’m not sure how good the inbuilt nd is but I do remember watching plenty of YouTube reviews showing it and it seemed quite impressive.

It's pretty good on my EM1X.

But it won't replace physical ND filters.

i.e. the in-built ND's on the Olympus cameras don't produce as real an effect.

That's the best way I can describe it.

Many thanks for the info, it’s not something I’ve looked into in any great detail.

yeah, this is what I was wondering but cant find a like for like comparison on youtube

Well, my om1 body is going back to Oly to fix an intermittently stiff command dial. So back to the EM-10 for a few weekends it seems. Looks tiny on the 300m f4.

Well the OM1 is now in the hands of DHL and on it's way to Portugal. Secretly hoping they'll clean the sensor while they fix the command dial. Am curious if they send out a loaner camera for me. Am in the lakes in a few weeks. Have asked my brother if I could borrow his nikon d3xxx crop sensor camera as a precaution.

I wanted to try a camera without a viewfinder. Got my hands on a Pen E-PL8 with the pancake 14-42
Actually quite an impressive camera, although I didn't like the shooting experience much. I should have taken my specs.
Found it was ok for low down stuff with the screen flipped out, and trusting to luck.

Nice moody shots Alf , snow next week ? Hopefully

So I’ve got an Oly E-P7 and just getting used to it..
I’m off to London for a couple of days street photography and night time stuff.
I have the 14-42 kit lens, the amazing 45mm F1.8 and a manual focus 7.5mm F2.8 -F11 Fisheye.
I’ve got a little Joby Gorillapod to help also, and my full size carbon travel tripod.
I’m aware some security can get a bit antsy with tripods so I’ll only use it in public places and avoid causing obstructions.
I’m staying around the North and South banks, unless I have time to go a bit further afield .
Any advice regarding the use of the camera and lenses for London streets and some LE night shots? I have a screw on CPL and ND1000.
Any advice on general street and London photography?
Thanks

I would go with the 45mm f1.8 shoot wide open and it should be virtually see in the dark . The older sensor being your main problem so use auto iso and mess with de.noise when home ..obviously shoot in RAW to gain more advantage .. a really good lens to aim for is the sigma 56 mm f1.4 that really does see in the dark

Still waiting on my 40-150f4 to come, ordered during the promotion, todays last day to claim and lens has been held up at UPS / import with 5 or 6 delivery promises broken, since 7th November, so ten days :-( I've got the invoice but cant claim as i need the serial number of the lens, and of course I don't have the lens

Im not impressed :-(

I went for this and while they probably last about 20% less than the original it's 2 plus an external charger for half the price of an original.
Do you have a link at all?

Many thanks

I recently bought some extra batteries for my om1's for my Gambia trip. From a company called DOT.FOTOThe O in DOT is actually a blue O with a . In it.Anyway £33.37 got me 2 batteries delivered. So build quality from the outside Seems better than the originals. They charge in the Olympus charger. They are coded to the camera everything shows correctly when checked. The power rating is the same as the original. So how well do they perform well they keep their charge no problem. Shooting on both bodies with video on they lasted 2 minutes longer than the original batteries
(i tested by placing both on a tripod and starting recording together) I did stop recording on both at the same time 4-5 times during the test to check battery's temperature. This was in my hide i used my Em1x while carrying out the test for stills A caveat in the maths that could be down to more use in the originals so there is a chance a new om systems blx-1 battery could perform slightly better. The only thing I can't test is their longevity of them. I can say I'm really happy with them. Especially with the price.
Hope this helps people.
