Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

A early morning visit to RSPB Greylake was becoming somewhat of a disappointment after a very early start at 4.00am due to overcast conditions and the reserve being quiet after all the recent fledgin activity just as I was thinking of going home for breakfast At 9.00am exactly we had the flypast from the local Barney love these birds just so graceful Spoke to one of the RSPB wardens the other day its been a difficult year for Barneys locally with a lack of prey in fact in a nearby location I frequent I found two dead adults which may have been due a lack of prey

Taken on OM1 +150-400+1.25TC ISO 2500 F5.6 1/2500 Lightroom denoise @ 75% and Topaz sharpen

Outstanding!

Mistletoe is our rescue Jack Russell. She was found with a badly broken back leg and missing a toe. Hence the name. Pen F, 25mm mZuiko, straight out of camera JPEG.

I was going to say, she looks just like you.... well your avatar anyway

That's a lovely shot. Very cute too.

The Pen F is such a fun camera for black and white isn't it? I almost replied in the Raw/jpeg thread as I enjoy playing with the creative settings in it.

Well, you know they say that pets get to look like their owners … :p

I’ve been eyeing up the Pen F since they first came out, but it was only last week that I found one at a sensible price. Still in its original box with a still-wrapped flash! I’m finding it really good to handle, and so easy to fine-tune the jpegs.

A bit of mood....

....:clap::clap::clap::clap: Utterly fabulous! The lighting, the perspectives, the human figure, everything. Even the star burst works because of the subject - Personally I don't usually like added starbursts.

Which lens and camera did you shoot this on please?

Just wanna sing the praises of the 40-150 f2.8 Pro
Used here on the OM-1
Just stuff from the dog walk.

Now then, not a great picture. Posted to show just how effective the animal eye af is on the OM-1. I simply flipped the screen out to lower the camera and frame the dog. Olympus did the rest.

.... :agree: and I couldn't agree more!

It was the first lens I bought when moving to Olympus in 2019 and is my 'go-to' lens for railways just as my 150-400mm TC Pro is my 'go-to' lens for wildlife but I don't often carry them both at the same time when out shooting.

The 40-150mm F/2.8 Pro may be more expensive and heavier weight than the F/4 version but it is definitely far better suited to my needs. Its IQ maintained even with the MC-20 mounted further extends how valuable it is.

Who needs F/2.8 I hear some say but it helps when either Extender is mounted or in low light or heavy rain etc. I always prefer to keep my ISO low and always select it manually. I can't fault it as a flexible zoom lens.

I was able to shoot butterfly close-ups on a railway embankment while waiting for my targetted train on a dull weather day :

Thanks very much for the comments. OM-1 and Olly 7-14 f2.8

Give it a good hard twist OMS Need the repair money

I couldn’t believe it when I first heard them and they popped up over the houses. Thought I was not going to make it in time. Apparently they had been doing the same all afternoon as well.
Not a great shot but it was after 2100 and with the 75-300

I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I saw an Osprey, and I didn't get my camera out of the bag quick enough. It arose from the brow of the hill in front of us, quite spectacular.

So back from a week in Anglesey & really didn't want to come home.

I'm no bird photo expert by a long chalk but I'm quite happy with these considering the tools I had at my disposal. Some are really heavy crops so take that into account.

All critique welcomed.
