not long enough that one. How did you get on with the 12-40 ?
I meant to complement your primes (*) as you mentioned having nothing from 8-20mm. I had one, but tended to not use it as a walkaround (preferring the 20/25 primes or the 14-150 superzoom), so only got it out the bag for wide shots, which wasn't often enough to justify keeping it.
The 12-40 is a great lens. I like how wide it is (better than the 18-xx I was used to on Nikon) and it feels solid - I reckon if you dropped it on your foot, your foot will lose (**). It's big, but not excessively so - on my EM5 it definitely benefits from having the grip on, but you could use it without, unless you're a weak-wristed southern pansy like me.
The thing that put me off is that the EM5 plus 12-40 is, bulk-wise, getting back into DSLR territory, which is what I was trying to get away from with MFT. Hence I've got the LX100 to replace it for everyday shots. No, it's not as good as the 12-40, but good enough for me, although I miss manual zoom. I wish someone would make fast lenses without the 'pro' build/spec - I don't drop kick my gear over fences (see foot comment above) in the rain, so am happy with cheapo plastic lenses!
I should really sell the EM5 too, but for the time being I'm keeping that as I recklessly got a 100-300 as I've not tried any really long lenses on MFT yet. But eventually I'll realize an EM5 and 100-300 for the 1 day a year trip to the zoo is absurd, and will sell them at a huge loss, since the EM5 will be a dinosaur and the 100-300 will be on v2/v3 and mine will look like something found in the arms of a peatbog man.
(*) I say, sir, what lovely primes you have.
(**) You may also lose your foot.
