Hiya folkies ....
Today I visited Dunham Massey, Cheshire, with some members from this forum and even more members from another forum (EPZ). The mission: photograph the deer rut season.
It was a funny sort of a day .... met at 0630hrs - never ever a good time for me .... made worse by the fact that the mornings are getting darker and colder!!!
However, meeting other people and the ensuing chat of lenses, bodies, filters, etc soon cheered me up
I then got the usual case of lens envy - looking at everyone else with their HUUUUGGGGGGEEEE lenses. I stood there with my little 70-300mm lens. It was also at this stage that I started wishing I had brought my tripod rather than a crappy £11 monopod from Jessops! (Was planning on bringing my tripod but I 'couldn't be arsed' - you know how it is!)
Anyway, the results can be found below. I apologise in advance for the quality. It was dark, my glass is super slow and the ISO was cracnked up to get anywhere near anything usable.
1.) After getting all planned and whacking the 'mighty' 70-300mm lens on, it was taken off in seconds for this shot. It was too dark to use the long lens, so the Sigma 17-70mm came out to capture the sunrise.
2). After a bit of walking around, watching other people and generally wondering what time the coffee shop opened, I saw this little blighter standing under a tree. (I have protected his identity as he wishes to remain anonymous
)
3). By now the sun was coming out and I was warming up. I still hadn't got my elusive shot in the bag and was getting a bit tired. Still several hours away from the opening of the cafe (1030hrs), I looked to the heavens for inspiration and decided to take a shot of the moon.
4). At this point, wondering why I had gotten up so early, I plonked myself on a tree trunk (complete with blade of grass in my mouth!). Sitting alone (apart from about 30 other togs and a few joggers), I watched the world go by ..... when suddenly loads of deer ran past me and a few stopped. I thought I'd better get a few deer shots in the bag - so rattled off this one .... was love in the air?
5. I then met a few people from this site (Ffione & her mate). She informed me that she was expecting to meet a girl called Anthea! (The only time I have been known as Anthea was on my stag do .. stag do ... geddit?
). Anyway, after assuring her that I was not female, the 6'2 with stubble gave it away
, we walked around for a bit through more wet grass and then I got this shot.
Not sure how many images you can stick in one post ... so hold on whilst I start my next message. Save your replies till I am finished!!!! 5 more piccies to go!!
Cheers
