Official Talk Leica thread

I’ve decided to trade in all my Sony equipment, a7iv and a7riv and 3 Sigma lenses. I have found a pristine Q2 Monochrom at a price I can justify.

I have done my research, is there anyone in here that uses one? I have always loved B&W images.

I have used one (a friends), its a lovely piece of kit, just be careful of exposure, there is no highlight recovery!! Beautiful images.....................

Request: can we get this thread back on to talking about Leica equipment please. Lovely photos and all that, but they should really be in one of the photo sharing forums unless, for example, you are doing a comparison of two lenses and using images to show the differences between the two.

Hi, I show pictures giving the lens details. By scrolling, one can compare lenses ...

I don’t think this thread is any different to any other equipment threads on here.

Photos are posted, equipment talked about as and when, information exchanged, questions about Leica gear asked and answered.

(The DELAGE pics may give you a rough idea of how the different lenses perform. There is no ceteris paribus (different days, light etc.) observed.
I normally go out minimally equipped, carrying: one camera (backup in the car), one lens attached, batteries and one backup SD.

I only own 5 Leica M mount 50s. They all perform well, albeit a little differently. There are speed, minimal focussing distance and haptic differences.

All Leica M mount lenses have been exhaustively tested by others.

So, I can simply act according to my nick justpix ... --- )

Strange… when I go to TP from my home WiFi it says my IP is banned, but from mobile data it works ok!

Hi, ... (M9 - Elmarit 2,8/28 f 2,8 ; crop) :

This is my least used M mount 28mm lens . My others :

LEICA Elmarit 2,8/28 asph.

VOIGTLÄNDER Ultron 2/28

VOIGTLÄNDER Ultron 2/28 asph.

are faster and/or more compact. It is the last version before the asph. Elmarit. Still a good lens, I think. I should use it more often ...

Hi, ... (SONY a7ii - ZEISS Sonnar 1,5/50 f 1,5 ) :

I told you above that years ago I bought SONYs to adapt Leica M mount lenses, with varying results. Some worked well, some less so.

Over the years, I bought many native SONY lenses. So, today the only M mount lenses I still attach to SONYs are the 12 and 15mm VOIGTLÄNDERs.

The performance problems of M-mount - SONY combos result from the thickness of the SONY sensor stack.

Now, there is the NIKON Zf, which looks nice, and has a sensor roughly half as thick as the SONY one. With native manual VOIGTLÄNDER z lenses one gets focus confirmation, because these lenses have contacts.

Normal M mount lenses (without contacts) only have the focus area magnification function in live view, which is also featured on the SONYs.

So, I attached my M mount ZEISS Sonnar to my SONY A7ii and went for a walk.

I could live with the focus area magnification function in live view.

But I do not feel the need to buy a NIKON Zf.

And there is always the temptation of native Z lenses, which might lead to the purchase of another camera system in the long run.
