Official Talk Leica thread

Is this thread for L mount too (even if none of it is Leica, i.e. Panasonic S5 and Sigma glass) or would it be best to have a separate L mount alliance thread?
IMHO it’s a Leica thread for Leica (and Leica fit gear), but I don’t make the rules here, so have no dog in this fight.

I would think an L mount alliance thread would be popular as it’s a good option to cover all regardless of manufacturer.

Hi, I would like to see L mount pics here, because some "L-mountaineers" see these bodies as a second home for M mount lenses.

I've just set up a separate L-Mount Alliance thread, it'll be quiet but hopefully a few owners will come out of the woodwork!

Hi, this is better, I suppose. The Panasonic Ls have an even thicker filter stack (1,45 mm) than the Nikon Z7 (1,1 mm), and the Leica SLs, which are held to have an optimal stack
for M mount lenses show difficulties with WA M mount lenses, too ... ---

Yes, I changed my mind ...

So my M7 broke... :(

This is why I didn't buy from anywhere that had a short warranty as it was 4 months into the 6 month warranty when it packed up. Sent it back for repair and it looks very much like they're not going to be able to repair it and are going to have to refund me. Another reason to keep me well away from XPans and Contaxes...

I really liked the auto-shutter speed of it, but I don't think I'm quite willing to get another one "just in case". I think I'll just continue to be (very) happy with the MP and pick up a 35mm Summilux for it. I may continue to look for a black M4 or dream about a black MP or even have a drunken incident with something with a sensor but perhaps it's for the best.

Oh no! My M6 is broke too. Needs a CLA, so I’m going to be film camera less for a while. At least I have the M10-P to keep me company.

Any SL users here?

I've been thinking about what to do with my Fuji kit I rarely use and have been looking for a digital camera I can mount my M lenses on (and keep their FoV) as well as being able to pick up a standard high quality zoom. The SL seems to fit this bill (have looked at other brands and discounted them) quite nicely and with aftermarket prices, I can buy, test, then if I like it, sell to fund an SL2 or SL2-S. I'm not really big on long range zooms so the 24-90 or 24-70 might do me as a one zoom lens solution with the small collection of rangefinder primes as lightweight options.

With the (hopefully) incoming refund of the M7, I could pick up a used SL with change and an adapter to try it out.

Anyone used an SL and have an opinion on pros/cons?

Hi, in Schwelm/D ... (M9 - Skopar 4/21; f 5,6 ; crop ) :

(The Skopar is a good, moderately priced 21mm M mount lens. It is somewhat slow, can flare sometimes, but is very compact. Not a bad compromise, all in all ... ---)

Is it me or is it slightly soft? Something with forum doing something to the pic?
btw- liking the bike shots and the classic car detail shots!

Hi, many factors: me, the lens, f 2, handheld ... :)

Works do... MP, Sonnar 50mm f/1.5 on Ilford Delta 3200. A combination that just works.
