OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

Looks like a nice one, the OM1n was my first proper camera after the tank-like Zenith E.

I've just bought this OM1n with 35mm 2.8 lens. Recently serviced and with a battery adaptor to use modern cells;

I don't really need two OM bodies but want the 35mm lens. I'll compare it to my OM2n when it arrives and decide which one to keep.

Cheers
Steve

Of course you do one for colour and one for b&w, an om body is smaller and lighter than an rb67 film back.

I hope it works OK but those shutter curtains look very wrinkly to me. Check that the foam hasn't eaten part of the pentaprism silvering too. I had to replace the prism on my OM1 and pick all the old foam away from inside the top cover.

Cheers, I'll let you know when it arrives. From what I've been told it's pretty much un-used but I'll see exactly when I've got it.

I'm wondering if it's just moiré?

Yeah, the rest of it looks pretty mint and it was described as being fully serviced in the last year so I'm hoping it's in good condition.

Well, the seller was certainly right with his description. The OM1 MD has just arrived and looks like it's never been used!

The 35mm 2.8 is the same, I can't wait to use it now. However, this now gives me a tough decision between keeping the OM1 or OM2n.

Also, not really a new toy but my Provia has just come back from Peak too. I only posted it to them on Saturday so I think AG have lost my repeat custom from now on.

Its a tough one, I'm currently having similar thoughts. I don't need a 1 and a 2 and hardly use either. The 1 doesn't need batteries which is good but the 2 is much quicker to use... let me know what I decide....

Just taken delivery of this:

{pic not working - will sort later}

Schneider Super Symmar HM 120mm.

Got to love the Germans... it was described as A-, minimal signs of wear. well, as far as I can see, it's mint, so happy days! All I need now is some free time to actually use it :(

Lol, first world problems we have eh! I do prefer to shoot Aperture priority on the whole so the 2 wins that one but the 1 does have the benefit of less to go wrong and a brighter viewfinder.

Ok, I'm being decisive today :0) I really don't need two 35mm cameras because I don't shoot enough 35mm film to justify them so I'm listing the OM1 with a 50mm in the classifieds now.

Cheers
Steve

That's a handsome looking camera. And you got it for a steal as well!

EDIT: just saw your last post - why not keep it? :D

Stop it!

I'm already looking at moving back over to an M645J again which would mean buying a camera and that would mean I'd have to buy the 35mm 3.5 lens back that I sold to Moomike....why am I not a lottery winner.

Then again, looking at the quality of the slides I've just got back from Peak off my Yashica 635 makes me wonder if I actually need a 645 :0)

Yeah but the 645 is ten better!

That OM1 does look pretty! The 35mm is a great lens too - one of my faves.

Got the test roll from my Super Ikonta Scanned, its portrait sharp at F2.8 but more than acceptable stopped down to F5.6. I didn't shoot any thing exciting so nothing worth posting, you'll just have to take my word for it.

Generous gift, I've seen these go for decent money on the web.

its all looks in working condition as well, the wind on motor drive is nice, lens looks reasonable.
Apparently there were attached to the machine guns :-)

It's probably still classed as a weapon, don't try taking it in your hand luggage. ;)

Its in Erskine, no machine guns :-(

Looks like some nice shots from the MegaMeet so I'll get them scanned asap

I haven't shot any slide film for a while. Must get this Provia/Velvia out of the fridge and make some pictures soon.

Perhaps I could make them with my new film camera. :snaphappy::oops: :$ Lusted after one of these for a while but couldn't bring myself to spend the money. Well, I gave in. Who needs savings anyway?

That's a very nice Contax (and Hassy). I've always fancied the Contax too but would have to sell at least one of my kids to fund it...always a silver lining eh!

Ta Steve. It did take a lot of persuading for me to actually spend the cash in the end but it was great to shoot with on Saturday. The Hassy is for sale though to try and put some cash back in the bank although I wish I didn't have to. [emoji20]

I almost bought a 500 El/m for silly money yesterday then pulled out when I found the same images having been used in an eBay auction last month. I questioned the seller and they tried to laugh it off by saying they'd got the photos from a google image search rather than taking pictures themselves (of their completely different kit!). Luckily I got my money back but I'll hold off buying any more kit for a while.

I'm actually putting together my own Minolta Autopole alternative to mount CPL/NDs to my TLR so that will keep me busy instead :0)

I have a major case of GAS at the moment. Fancy getting myself another MF camera that I can walk about with. Currently I use a C220 and RB67 but neither of those are particularly light for walking round for a long time with. Hoping to go to Brussels with the girlfriend towards the end of the year and I'd like a shiny toy to take away with me, just not sure what yet! Got a couple months to save up so that should give me some research time :D

New toys are always good :0)

Fuji GA645 - Basically point and shoot with very sharp lens but sometimes electrical gremlins

Traditional TLR (Rollei/Yashica) - much smaller and lighter than your C220 but excellent lenses. I'm shooting with a Yashica 635 at the moment and the results are really good.

Mamiya M645J - Awesome 645 system if you want interchangeable lenses and easy to pick up under £175. Get the 35mm 3.5 lens and wlf with it and shoot landscapes/architecture all day.

I'm a bit of a fan of Ross Ensign and Voigtlander and both companies produced some cracking, folding MF cameras. Just a couple to wet your whistle.

Ross Ensign 12-20. 6x6 folder, fairly small, compact and lightweight with a stunningly sharp lens.

Ross Ensign 16-20. 6 x 4.5 folder, even smaller than the 12-20, basically pocket sized. This was Ross' attempt to produce a rival to 35mm cameras, a brilliantly well made little camera.

Both of these are still reasonably priced, the last 16-20 I bought was £25 and the 12-20 can usually be got for under £50. There's an 820 as well, 6x9 but a bit of a beast, large and heavy.

Voigtlander made many, many different MF cameras from stunning and expensive to slightly less than stunning and fairly cheap. At the moment I have a Baby bessa 6x6 which is from 1938 but has proven to be a little gem and extremely small as well.
