So this arrived in the Mail for the Praktica, i couldn't resist! Should be better than the Pentacon one at least!

I have the same lens in M42,it performs very well indeed as you would expect from a Takumar.:)

Always good when new toys arrive!

Just had a quick look and everything seems to be in good condition other than a bit of leatherette needing to be stuck down and a general clean. Shutter speeds sound about right and the 35mm adaptor is complete apart from the extension piece (#4 on this pic http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1163/943668467_7034110548.jpg).

The only other obvious thing is that at some point someone has attached the wlf with araldite instead of the original screws randomly? Not the end of the world because it's secure and doesn't look rough so I'll leave it as it is.

Now I need to give it a clean and get some Provia in it!

Cheers
Steve

Or maybe a nice emmental cheese covering.:D

Although, I do still still have a few sheets of Wenge veneer...

The thought actually crossed my mind but now it's arrived and I've cleaned it up, the original leatherette is actually in pretty good condition apart from a few parts that had lifted so I've glued them back down. You know I find it hard blending in with the other black/chrome cameras so there's always the chance it will change before the Megameet :0)

So, I seem to have bought a Bessa R3A with a grip... wondering if I should bother to bring it to the meet, as I haven't got a lens other than the one on the CL, which has a half-used film in it...

No, perhaps I'd better bring it, wave it under @Andysnap 's nose like a gateway drug...

I can bring you a lens to use if you like.

This forum is amazing, so many friendly/helpful photographers :0)

The 635 looking better after a quick clean and leatherette repair;

I'm surprised how heavy it feels, much more solid than I remember my 124-G or Mat feeling? Maybe it's just because I was expecting it to feel lighter?

I've just sanded down a couple of tarnished spots on the bottom corners of the black paint frame. I think it's spent its life in the case so has rubbed. Painted on a thin coat of black enamel and waiting for it to dry to do a second coat.

Meanwhile, while it's drying...

You're just a mean boy who's being mean:(

Don't need a bessa don't need a bessa:)

I apologise ahead of this but...it now looks "flocking" awesome ;0)

I've attached thin flocking to the film chamber to reduce flare and reflections. I've cut it short of the film gate so I shouldn't get any stray fibres showing on the negatives. I did the same on the Mat I restored and it definitely made a difference.

Cheers

That must be some other Nick? :p

Looking good! I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this!

Thanks. I've only ever bothered with TLRs but I've definitely seen an improvement as a result so it's worth the hour work shaping the pieces. I'll see how the results look in the next couple of weeks.

There is a very interesting discussion of flare, and the different proportions that can be
contributed by the camera internal design, the lens and the presence or absence of an
effective lens hood in an article by P. C. Smethurst in the British Journal of Photography
Almanac for 1961.

Not many people know this :D

@ChrisR 50mm f1.5, 35mm f1.4 or 90mm f3.5?

Probably the 50, Nick, if possible please. No framelines for a 35, and I wouldn't want to get too far away from the POV of the 40mm M-Rokkor... :plus1:

Added a few bits to the big Pentax over the last few months (a grip, a rubber Nikon eyepiece so I don't scratch my glasses, and a 45/4 SMC):

Shooting with wide lenses has to be one of my favourite things about medium format, huge field of view but less distortion.
That's fired up the GAS for me!

That looks bigger than my house!

Good toys around here!

I have been looking for the nikon f3 but unlucky at the moment
I may be able to help you with that

I bought a really great condition one from the classifieds some time ago,my favourite go to camera and never once let me down.

The fleabay prices have over the last twelve months become more affordable so it is maybe the best time to buy.

Agree with Freecom2 easy to buy, but, getting a good one can be chancy.

The HP model seems to be £160 average, but,I wear glasses and have the standard prism which causes me no problems what so ever and here you can buy a excellent body for around £120. Excellent value at the moment.
