OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

Steven - the bellows came from an old plate camera I have here - sadly not Russian leather but one has to decide whether a camera is going to display or be used - I chose the latter.

Adrian - between jobs (again) atm, one has to keep the hands busy!

Arthur, hope the job situation sorts out soon, but in the meantime your efforts on these old instruments of imaging is very worthy!

I had a bad day a couple weeks ago when I fell in love with a Wirgin Edinex 1... unfortunately it was in the US so to make it a viable purchase I had to add more to the parcel :D

Oh Arthur.....

:(

In my defence, I had to sell shedloads of kit to pay for the new engine. Consolation was the order of the day :D

Ah, well if its a consolation purchase thats ok.

That Contaflex looks interesting.

That Olympus has some nice clean lines, sparten/minimal.....uncluttered, I like uncluttered..;)

I like the other cameras, but they aren't beautiful imo, they're too fussy, too much stuff....knurrlly knobs, buttons, levers, boxy projections....:D

It's an instamatic of course, though I do have a film for it as well as an empty film case to convert to 35mm :D

The Edinex 1 is beautiful, you must be blind... the Vito B was supposedly broke but it's sorted now, the Contaflex has a shutter from hell and the Ricoh is working nicely - even the clockwork.

I must be..lol

actually the Ricoh is getting there and so was the Vito, till they put that monolithic lens on the front.

looking at it now, I don't know the camera but it looks like that lens does more than focus & app, does it cock the shutter too or something ?

Exactly the opposite for me...the Edinex looks delicious!! lol....and the lens on the Vito.....well i do have a soft spot for lenses, although prefer em in brass!

Arthur, I find myself doing similar to yourself when purchasing .....best to fill the parcel and make the postal fee worthwhile......for some reason my other half doesn't seem to be able to understand my logic, believing it's an excuse to obtain more kit ....as if I would!!!!! LOL

The Edinex? It's a complete shutter/lens assembly which pulls out on a tube for use. It's still attached to the advance though to stop double exposures although you can fire it from the front if you *want* them. Bit like the Paxina only this is 35mm.

I was after the 75-200mm lens for my canon t80 and ended up snagging this lot for just £25.

T80 camera, 75-200 lens, 35-70 lens, extension tube, speedlite 299 flash, data back, padded bag and cleaning kit, 2 lens hoods.

May not be the most popular camera but it was my first slr so i wanted all the bits for it.

If it counts i just bought some new toys

Bought a Manfrotto 410 head and a Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 tripod

Amazon had them both at 40% off. The tripod was down from £359 to £225 which is nice. Might put my old tripod up for sale in the classifieds soon

If it helps, there wil be film cameras on top of it :p

It's the Law to put a MF camera on a 410 isn't it ?

The voices made me do it...

... working meter and everything :D

Oh Arthur, not again? Those voices are becoming louder aren't they.....

It's a late delivery on the consolation run - honest :D

Arthur, another beauty! I haven't seen one of those in many years. Not since in a past life working in an oldschool (now long since gone) camera shop more than 30 years ago. You must by now have stock enough to strat your own oldschool camera shop!

EDIT Just looked at the picture again and realised it's not the Ricoh I thought it was!! If it's not an Auto 66, which it clearly isn't what is it? Intrigued of South Norfolk!

Second Edit!!- It's a baby Ricoh 44?

Beautiful TLR, rare and with a very good meter.

Just love the retro look of the Ricoh.

Adrian, it's a 44. 127 film.

Just been given two boxes of old cameras that belonged to my uncle. Ive been through one hoping to find a leica  found a couple of kodak instamatics, a brownie 127 and a few box cameras that I've not heard of. Not the best cameras in the world but they look sweet on my shelf

Where ever possible old cameras deserve a roll of film through them:)

Sounds like you have a nice collection there even if there wasn't a leica amongst them:shake:

Absolutely!!

You can have some good fun even with 127 brownies and instamatics.

Should any of them have minor faults, they can usually still be manipulated to give out a shot....there is plenty of info online of how to adapt presently available film for use in old gear, and of course there are many of us on here who have got results from all sorts of formats....including 116/616, 828, 620 and 127....just ask if you need help.

Just picked this lot up for £20

Zenit-E with Helio s-44-2 lens
Olympus OM10 with 50mm 1.8
Prinz galaxy lens 200mm
Prinz galaxy vario converter 2x 3x converter

I don't know anything about these so any help info manuals would be gratefully received.

I am like a child at christmas!

The oly is pretty straight forward, set the film speed in the awkward dial on the right, make sure its set to auto. Its an aperture priority camera, you set the aperture on the lens and the camera works out the rest. The metering isn't bad tbh.

Does the mirror return after you press the shutter? Battery might be flat.

Thanks Steven, haven't had the chance to have a proper look but have found the manual so will get some cheap film and new batteries and give it a test to see how it's doing. They have an auction at our photography club every year and no one is ever interested in film cameras anymore. I actually paid £1 for the oly and £10 for the zenit-e as proceeds go to the club and i was embarrassed at the price they were getting.

£20 for that lot ...I'd be well impressed!

As mentioned the OM10 is aperture priority and I agree that if all works ok then the metering is pretty good and the glass offers a decent result.
You can pick up a manual adaptor which sits on the front left of the camera body....allows complete manual control over the shutter speeds....depending what / how you want to shoot then it may be worthwhile searching one out.
If you want motorised wind on, there is also a battery grip for the OM10....I have one but tbh very rarely put batteries in it, instead prefering to wind the film manually....however the grip makes holding the camera a little more comfortable imo if you don't mind the additional weight/bulk.

Zenit E....built like a brick **** house! lol
Often prone to lagging curtain shutter, particularly at slower speeds but otherwise an ok piece of gear to have.
One thing to remember is the operation of the apeture:

Set aperture (eg F/8)
Compose and focus shot
STOP DOWN THE DIAPHRAM RING before firing the shutter
If you don't then you chance shooting at a wider aperture than what you intended and overexposing the shot!

Have fun!

Thanks Asha

It looks in pretty good condition so if all is well I'll have a look for the manual adapter. TBH they look fantastic, real classic designs which you don't really see any more. I have also been reading a book on Robert Doisneau's pictures of Paris so am inspired to get out around Liverpool.

Ah, you spotted where your posts had moved to then Russell... good - I moved them into here, as the "bargains" thread is more for people sharing bargains that other members may be interested in "buying into" where this is more of a "look at the bargain/lovely toy/box of old tat I just bought!" kind of thread...
