OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

IMG_0163.JPG

From a charity shop for £3, needs new light seals, but apart from that all seems to be in working order..

Looks a lovely example, £3.00 well spent!

Demi. Couldn't resist it. Had a jammed shutter so got it dead cheap - simple enough to sort and now all-singing as it should :D

Capture20.JPG

Arthur, very nice Canon, not a model I am familier with, A late 60's model?

Nice little pocket sized Canon there Arthur........ideal for some street shots perhaps?

Half frames are a soft spot of mine, this one is a perfect pocket cam - as you say, street, candid, whatever. Either this or an XA - but this has more style :D

Adrian, it's a Demi - half frame.

Ah, was that Canon's competition for the Oly Pen F and the likes?

Well, one of them yes. They also had the Dial - but tbh nobody had "competition" for the Pen F since it's an SLR - these were more after the Pen E range. When I say nobody I mean the reduced size slr - of course there's the Konica Auto Flex and Auto Revue, both capable SLRs and both full and half frame on 35mm. There are some half frame 120 cameras too, not to mention the more modern Samurais and so on :D

** edit - and Alpa, and MT-1 and a few more but this is not a history of half frame lesson!

I was offered Mamiya C220 for 90 quids. It looks very clean and no scratches and hardly used. it has 80mm 2.8. No manual nothing.
Any comments, useful links are welcome :-) I just want it :)

Nice camera, I've got one and love the big square negs and interchangeable lenses. The manual is available on Buktus, which is free but a donation is appreciated.

A few cheap second hand odds and sods arrived from a well known auction site - 52mm and 58mm B+W orange filters (finally decided I should get some good ones) and a hood for my OM 50mm and an Adaptall 2 to OM-mount adapter (which cost all of £4 delivered and it's like new).

...talking of which: did I mention a minty Tamron Adaptall 2 28mm f/2.5 with caps and case for under £20 before? :)

Speaking of Mamiya's, forgot about this that arrived the other month:

Only put one roll through it so far which needs developing, but it's a beast compared to my humble Lubitel.

Thanks. I need the manual.. I am still confused by the charts on the side :). Any one has a link to nice colour photos taken with this camera? I can only find black and white.

Just over £40 off ebay, and fully working bar a slight dent on the 50mm filter thread.

First fully manual film camera I've actually owned too, instead of just borrowing friends/families ones

I've never shot one of these but they do come with a good reputation. They do get a cough though!

Good buy with two lenses, and both lenses will give VG results.

Fully agree!

I have both lenses and use them on an AV-1 body with very good results....... basically same camera body as you have except it's aperture priority

Enjoy your new toy!

Canon AE-1 Program, found it in a charity shop for £10. The lens was wonky and the shutter was squealing (know fault on this model) a bit of TLC this evening and everything is working smoothly.

The lens though is Exakta 70-210mm 2.8 and is A lovely bit of glass. Going to throw some film in it tomorrow. Cant seem to find much info on this lens?

Well that looks like another Canon A series bargain! I do like Canon's of that era, I am fighting the temptation hard not to go out and buy one. Oh no, slippery slope!

Embrace the dark side... :)

Plastic squealing tat... :P in all seriousness I think they lacked a bit of a quality factor that I've come to love in classic cameras, I can see why they were so popular but it doesn't make them desirable!

/2p

..my father dropped his AE1 in the sea (near the beach)...beware they are not waterproof :)

I posted this in a seperate thread when I had a question about it.

Now the question's been answered and I've tried it out and it works beautifully, I thought I should put it in here.

I can tell from this photo(of the camera) and your nom de plume, that it does not suit you.Do you want to sell it ? Seen your other post and the results with the above, and I have commented on them. Once again, well done.

My new toy :

Yashica Electro GSN by wickerman6, on Flickr

Purchased from that well known auction site. Described as in good condition but all the light seals were like goo. I replaced the light seals yesterday and am just waiting for it to stop raining to go out and try it out.

Found this yesterday in a charity shop. I've been looking for something that i can carry around and possibly take to work with me to satisfy my photography cravings at all time's.
Think this fits the bill nicely.

I picked up a black GT about 10 months ago, its a lovely camera and the Yashica glass is excellent, Idiosyncratic metering, but it turns out great shrap shots in my view, I am sure you will enjoy this affordable RF

Just had an offer of a Durst 605 enlarger, TPA analysing system and all the toys I need for a darkroom. Need to bite the bullet with the whole home dev and printing thing.

Has anyone any experience with this enlarger? Any pointers?

Been a while since I bought anything decent so when I saw this In a local camera shop I couldnt help myself. Been wanting one for as long as I can remember!

1951 Leica iiif with Leica 50mm f/3.5 Elmar.

Very nice Scott, a Leica is on my long term want list as well. Was it expensive?

I use a 605 with a colour head, it's a nice enough piece of kit. It just works.

Postie has just delivered this:

455eastmanintervaltimer.jpg

In original box, working order

Can be set at 15 second intervals in between the full minutes....a brief test against a digi stopwatch shows it to be pretty darned accurate too, so much so it may well be used to time my next film dev!

The ticking noise and alarm bell just sound so cool......appreciated, that to some it will be just tack, but I love this oldie worldy type gear...maybe I should have been born in a different generation or something!

Not sure of age ....possibly 1930's going on the bit of info I've found....maybe someone on here knows?

Really old or not, I like it!

I have a Smiths one, big hook-shaped levers on the side. I have a couple of decidedly pricey chrono watches too but the ticking timer gets used every time :D

Yes those cream coloured smiths ones are nice......remind me of similar ones we used to use in school chemistry lessons!
