Well you'll definitely will lose that £10, I only went 8x10 because I got an amazing deal and already have 6x lenses that cover that format.

I won't be shooting much, I just bought 100 sheets of Adox 25 for just over £200, Ilford stuff is about £5 a sheet

Ed, If you ever find/treat yourself to something even larger then perhaps this will be of help :D.....designed to hold a glass plate 12" x 15"

I'm not getting into wet plate stuff (don't quote me on that later :naughty: )

Bloody hell Asha, is that one of yours:eek:

Unforuanatly I don't posses the camera to which it belongs....would love to have seen it.

I acquired this with the half Thornton Pickard Triple Extension Camera ( used for week 7 of my 52 challenge).

The young man from whom i purchased had inherited all the kit from a deceased relative. It was all in such a disgusting state having been stored in an attic for many years and he had no idea how to operate it let alone restore it.
He wanted to ensure it went to a home where it would be brought back to its former glory and possibly used ....which indeed it has been (the camera that is!)

After several months of painstakingly rubbing brass, polishing wood etc, i recontacted the seller with photos .....both he and his grandma were overcome with emotion.

Sadly no one had any idea where this plate holder originated from nor from what camera, however his grandfathers interest in photography had evidently brought him in close contact with professional photographers throughout his life.

And now for something a little smaller
A Hunter 35 aka Steinette. Not put a film through it yet but it was pretty rough in side, had to sand down the pressure plate and the take up spool because they were both rusty. Body is a little rough but it'll do. 1/100 and 1/200 don't work and bulb is intermittent but given the weather forecast I doubt that will be an issue. Take it to work tomorrow an see how it gets on.

Excuse the phone shots DSLR is in a cupboard...

Just notice a previous owners adress is taped to the bottom of the case. A pharmacist from Dundee no less.

Good to see you're not put off by a bit of rust and wear.....often the glassware will still remain good.

I was a little worried when I got it into some decent light to examine the lens but once I got the back off and got some cotton wool in the crud just lifted right off.

Plain white vinegar works a treat with lenses like that especially if they have fungal growth on them although sounds like you have this particular lens sorted.

I had the hunter 35 at the office trying it out, all the frames have this slight light leak at the top which I'm not sure if its caused by the shutters motion across the frame or if I caused it whilst rewinding the film. I didn't notice there was a clutch on the winding mechanism so it was pushing on the bottom plate as it rewound. After a moment or two I put it in the change bag and removed the film from the camera.

Shot with a Hunter 35 on FujiFilm C200, stand deved in Rodinal for an hour or so at 1+100. Scanning was a bear and wasn't helped by the fact that I had it set to jpg so added loads of noise trying to recover the image.

Just looking over some of the negatives, the idiosyncratic nature of the winding is quite fun. The spacing between the frame varies across the roll and some of the earlier frames are not quite square on with the lens so the sprockets have been exposed leaving a big gap above in the frame.

Not much on the new camera front lately, blown engine in the Celica means more kit going out the door than coming in. I have just taken delivery of a nice little Canonet 2B, as well as a superb [mju] V-QD (which will be used in the Agfa challenge), both of which are very nice.

Hopefully in the future there will be a few exotics arriving to brighten up the days, but must keep secrets for now. I can say that a certain bronzed-brass beastie is even now on it's way to my letterbox as I type this...

Fsu rangefinder fetish continues here.

A non collapsing industar50 arrived last week. This was sourced as a cheap sacrificial lamb for my first forays into industar stripping and lubricating. It needs a lot of work, I am glad I only spent a fiver on it. Infinity focus seems out and the focus ring is really stiff.

In other news a rather lovely industar 61 arrived this week along with a pig ugly rear cap. Not bad for twenty quid. On closer inspection the rear cap turned out to be a FED4b. Unfortunately the rangefinder coupling has been ripped out of the camera so the poor thing is destined for the bin. The lens, on the other hand, is fine, both optically spotless and mechanically perfect. It's now mounted on a fed2 and being used for the Agfa challenge as a test.

Or as the Russians preferred to call it... new old stock

(I kid - intrigued by FSU stuff, but my latest rangefinder purchase has been a Ricoh 500GX)

That's a Canonet 28 (with an f/2.8 lens) rather than a 2B, isn't it?

Needs a bit of love though - the seals on the Ricoh 500 are known to be atrocious, and mine is no exception. I have a kit from Jon Goodman ready to be installed!

Like the Mu, have been thinking about one of those for a while.

But really like the look of the Canonet, looks in great condition.

Yup - the Canonet is nice. Just repaired the crack in the case you can see but apart from that - perfect. Testing will have to wait cos I have a few other things on the go.

The mju V (or Stylus Select 105 for those not in the UK) is something I've been after for a while now, supposedly the flagship camera of the range and I luckily got the quartz databack model too (bought it on spec unseen). It's feels a nice camera, probably the aluminium case helps that but it's just a nice solid lump.

You obviously have a liking for those small shooters, the Mju is a very stylish one!

Da, iss gudd. All hail the proletariat.

Finally own a Holga G lens camera, GFN model. I already have a 120CFN, two 120N, a 120S and one of those ultrawide pinholes.

Was also given by a work colleague an Olympus OM10 with winder and a few lenses. First thing I did was pick up a m4/3 to Oly adaptor and now my Panasonic GF-3 is much more interesting to use.

Don't think I actually own any 35mm film anymore...

This one is a bit more of a challenge...

Capture-13.jpg

Yup. New bellows in already:

I think the shutter is salvageable too. Just ordered a gunmetal grey section of 8mm curb chain and I am going to need a whole lot of Brasso too at some point... then it will start to look like an Ensign Carbine No. 4 - Tropical Model :D

wasn't it eric morecambe that said something like ,,,,,yes it is a camera ,but the bits might not necessarily be in the right order ? :)

Something along those lines. If anyone can put the bits back in the right order, Arthur can

Flattering confidence Nick... we shall see. This one will stay for sure I expect.

Arthur looks transformed already, you have a very quick turnaround on these fixers! Very impressive.
