A Zuiko 28mm f/3.5 with a metal hood and Zuiko 135mm f/3.5 arrived today for use with my OM-2N, both of them very tidy examples indeed - £60 delivered for the pair of them from a well-known auction site seemed not too bad a buy.

[excuse the vintage Canon strap I had to rob from one of my other cameras till I can find something more suitable :)]

I'm starting to understand the attraction of OMs - the components are like little jewels compared with my FD gear.

Took the new lenses out for a spin over lunch. Everything fine until I pressed the shutter with the 28mm mounted - nothing happened. Checked I'd actually wound the film on, yes.

Switched to the 50mm and it worked. Back with the 28mm, it didn't.

After a bit of head scratching and comparing with the other two lenses, I twigged that the aperture lever was jammed solid, not budging even a fraction of millimetre. :bang: :'(

So, reluctantly, I was about to compose an "I'd like to return this item" message to the seller but thought I'd have one last go and give it a proper shove. Applied some brute force and ping! the lever suddenly came free (in a good way).

Now moving freely and the lens stops down as Olympus intended. :woot:

Ooh quite an emotion swinger.....sick pit in the stomach at beleiving you had a dud then elation when it came good.

:gag: Not sure I would have been that brave to apply "brute" force, but glad the outcome came good :thumbs:

been wanting a rangefinder for a while and this came up and Bessa R3m money (which is what I was looking at) on ebay, and it pretty much all works! It could do with a service, the curtains catch each other at 1000th so you only get half an image and the rangefinder needs a tweek which I may do myself, but the rest is good :)

anyone want a pentax MX ;)

is that the 35mm colour skopar? I'd like something wider, but not sure if to go a bit wide with the 35mm or proper wide and get the 15mm heliar. I keep justifying the 15mm with 'there are no frame lines below 50mm so I may as well go so wide that the lens doesn't couple with the RF cam' :)
 
Yes, it's the f/2.5, nice for walking about with :D Proper wide is too pricey for me, having trouble justifying this one only that the alternatives are just as (if not more) expensive! Framelines would be nice, that turret is a pointless piece of (sh) kit if I ever saw any... came with the camera though. I have a Taron finder that I can sit on top that's pretty close to 35mm though luckily.
 
Yeah I started looking at the Summicron 50mm dual range/close focus lenses, they made that nokton look very reasonably priced :)

The nokton is a cracker. I see no reason to get the Leica or zeiss lenses when you have that little cracker.

I have been thinking it would be good to meet up again before it starts to get too cold and grim (or too Northern in other words)

Just chucking this out there but does anyone fancy a meet up in Bristol for a change?
 
Bristol.....bloody hell man that's nearly Wales. I'd rather go to Croyden (please feel free to substitute the name of some other southern softy spot if this is actually a posh area.)

Jcoquillon was thinking about running a Bristol film meet IIRC, don't think anything came of it though

No squeal, decent condition, not bad. About right I reckon, especially if the seals are in good condition.

Don't worry too much about it... however much you pay, it's a fraction of what it was new and it is still a seriously capable camera. Forget the price, load up a roll and head off shooting :thumbs:

VG camera, I was using mine today.....maybe paid a bit too high as you should have got it with the F1.4 lens for that price.
