Envious!.......that i don't have the practical ability ( nor patience!!) to make myself something like that.

I often surf the net for homemade shutter ideas for my old LF cameras....seen more than one that would work but need someone like you to help me build it!!!! lol

Well done to you....hope you're going to post up some results when you get the pinhole sorted and start shooting.

Ahhh thanks, my aspirations are high with projects like this but my equipment is low, i've only got basic hand tools and a suction vice, my workbench is my chest freezer lol i would kill for a mini lathe, milling machine and a 3d printer! I would probably go into limited production then but for now its bodge bodge bodge haha

Yes Brian, that is a good photograph, plenty of contrast too.

It was sunny in London yesterday and I tried FP4 in Rodinal 1:50 for the first time and was most disappointed with the flat looking negatives. This one is typical and is the original from the scanner, not Gimped, just cropped and resized.

FP4_Rodinal_Orig.jpg

The camera was an OM1 with a 28mm lens and a yellow filter. The metering has been OK before with my usual Tri-X/D76 combination.
I gave it 17 minutes at 21C, tilting once every 30 seconds. Judging by the frame numbers, I'd say it was slightly underdeveloped. I think I'll go back to D76. Any suggestions as to why it lacks contrast?

You will need to do some chimping to compensate for the scanner, usually involves adding some contrast

By the way, just noticed this was in wrong thread - sorry about that :)

LOL....I did wonder when I saw it earlier ....said nothing cos I thought it was me going nuts  :D

I got this quite a while ago but forgot to post it up:

The body is in great nick and was cheap on the 'bay. The 28mm Elmarit was a bargain too as it looks a bit rough but is optically perfect.

Got a 90mm f2 Summicron too, also rough looking but nice optics.

Plenty of Pentax K to Canon EOS mount adapters hanging around - it should give a nice portrait lens on your 20D, and the Pentax 50mm f/2 is a fine performer.

I haven't heard of a Pentax K to Olympus OM mount adapter though - but the Olympus Zuiko 50 primes are so cheap anyway that you could probably just get one of those if you wanted (there's an overpriced one in the Classifieds - usually £15 should get you a decent copy).

Cool cheers mate I'll have a look into it.

I have just purchased a 50mm 1.8 Zuiko for a 10er..

Live up to the hype? Many argue that it was Nikon's finest camera - some automation with the ruggedness of the F series, and without the clunkiness of the subsequent F4/5.

It's a great camera but my least favorite of the Nikon F series.

I love the handling of the F3 but the viewfinder lcd can be hard to see in bright light.

I'd like to try the HP viewfinder sometime as I wear specs and it's supposed to be easier.

I love my F3 its everything a 35mm film camera should be but Des is correct about the viewfinder and spec wearers, it can be a bit of a problem. But I can put up with it because it just fits my hand perfectly and everything about it is intuitive and easy.

I've got the HP viewfinder on mine and it does make it more useable for us speccy types. They do crop up on evil bay sometimes so worth keeping a look out.

That reminds me, I need to buy a 28/2.8 AIS for my F3! And some new camera leather. Also the LCD display doesn't bother me at all, you do have all those tactile dials. ;)

Just won an FD 35-105 f/3.5. Other than size/portability is there any value in hanging on to my 35-70 f/4?

I'd keep it, partly because even though the 35-105 is probably one of my favourite FD lenses, it's a heavy bulky sod, and partly because the 35-70's only make around £20 and I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of selling it for that kind of money

Arrived this morning!

Seller had no idea of make ..... definetly german lens/shutter marked "Wirgin Wiesbaden Gewironar.

Body has a very Agfa look and feel about it .... and is in very good nick ...120 format and all looks to operate nicely!

Done a quick search and found info on Wirgin but haven't yet pinpointed this exact model.

Maybe the symbol on the lens plate ( near the aperture Nos) is a clue??!!

Thanks Mark, just had a gander on eBay and I might as well keep it!

Couldn't resist a little hunt around the net, this model on the left looks very similar except for the grip: http://www.wirgin.info/wirgin/spring.html

Any chance that it's be recovered at any point?

Well there is always that possibilty I suppose ...if it has, it has been very well done!

Either way it's a tidy piece of kit and will more than likeley get put to good use for my film 52

Thanks for the link.....curiousity got the better of you eh??!! lol

Not unlike many cameras, there were so many variations of body, lens, shutter combos.....keeps us occupied trying to positively identify them albiet a little frustrating at times!

Last week a friend of mine gave me a very nice Yashica Electro 35 Rangefinder. Seems pretty decent - no problems with lightseals etc, and the lens is clean bright and sharp. I've just run a roll of film through it, running on it's Auto selection, and although it has a pronounced (though not particularly metalic) thump as you wind the film on - implying the pad-o-death is on it's way, it seems to have exposed everything pretty much right.

No, no, that thump is a good sign. It's when they don't thump that problems arise. I got one of these as a gift and it's a great camera especially for low light hand held shots. If you don't want it to thump when you wind on, then half depress the shutter button as you wind.

Doesn't seem very far removed from:

I have a 35mm rangefinder from Wirgin and still have the instructions which I think bear the same logo. Will have a look around the house tomorrow.

I had my first roll developed from my OM 10.

Using Fuji superia 200

I must admit even for my first roll in god knows how many years I'm not happy with them..

Here's an example where you can see the grain..Maybe I need some 400 for this kinda stuff?

I want more vibrancy.. Please help

Thanks Jim..I shall grab some.

Would 400 be better for sunsets mate?

Velvia only comes in 50 and 100. Better to grab a tripod and use a longer exposure. If you want c41 and more vibrant try ektar. If you want faster then I think portra 400 would be best! Lots of choice out there.

Superia is always flat and lifeless and souless - muted and meh and not worth the time and effort imho. APrt from a bright summer day when it can occasional produce some reasonable pics, in any other situation for me it's always been a disappointment.

I like Fuji Pro 160S for vibrancy. The other recommendations are all good as well though.

Just got two olympus trip 35 cameras... I can feel an addiction coming on

I have two already but really need to recover one. Mine are both earlier models with the metal shutter button. I love them!

Are they both fully functional?

I am presently attempting to make a good one out of the two faulty ones that I have.

better scanner will do the trick - e.g. grain.
vibrancy - as mentioned - velvia, or if c41 - ektar.
better optics play a big role as well, more resolution etc.

lol, I only replied now to a thread that's been open from yesterday and hadn't been refreshed :D

Only bought an over-priced (well over my usual bootie price :) ) Pentax M 24-35mm as new for a £10, I'll have to try it out on my fantastic Centon K100.
