OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

I think I certainly have, especially as I've just been researching the other lens that was in the suitcase, this one is a Dallmeyer Press lens 5.0 f3.5. They seem to be pretty rare too!

My new toys will be here next week, just got to order some film now!

Well my father in law has been doing a bit of loft cleaning, and dropped this round last week, wondering if i wanted it... of course, i jumped at the chance!

My new 'toy' should have arrived on Friday but Parcelforce sent it from Leek to Birmingham when it was supposed to go to Edinburgh!

Mamiya 645 Pro with AE head, grip drive, 80mm and 45mm lenses, two 120 backs and some other accessories for under £400.

Roll on Monday. (Did I just say that!)

That's a nice little set-up you have there and I hope you enjoy using them. I only wish I had relatives who would leave me some decent gear when they clear out their garage/loft instead of the same old rubbish like I have in my own loft. :D

You will have to excuse the digi-brick on the right, but here is my recently acquired Nikon EM strapped to a 50mm f/1.8 and loaded with Ilford XP2. The EM is in mint condition, not a mark on it. The only thing I have had to do is spend £7 on a new set of light seals!!! :D

I'm currently looking at Leicas, bonus time in February so I get even more time to find a bargain!!

Having never shot on film before this year I'm having great fun with my new friends. Here are two of them

It's great to see these gems in the hands of photogrphers who appreciate them and will use them. You'll not see their like again and it's just going to get harder to find nice examples as time goes on.

This weekend's bargain- Minolta X700, cable release, MD 50 f1.7, Tamron wide prime, Tamron telezoom, various filters, Manfrotto pro Art 144 tripod with 141RC head, two photography books (Beginning with Bailey + the Photographer's Handbook), case, bag and various odds and ends - £20.

Pics soon!

Very excited to receive my latest couple of toys....

In my opinion one of the finest camera and lens combinations from the late 90's

Minolta Dynax 9 and the G series Minolta 85mm F1.4 :love::love::love:

Ah - the awesome D9... pinnacle of professional excellence

Hmm - good diet, plenty of exercise, and work on those biceps *every* day... before you know you'll be able to pick it up without wincing and even - if you try really hard - even carry it around for a whole day!!

Well I'm impressed. Ad said 6-8 working days for delivery. Purchased Saturday, dispatched yesterday and.....

arrived today! :woot:

So, any tips on using it? :help: (I have downloaded the manual BTW.)

How's the shutter?
If I go below 1/60th on mine the shutter sticks.

 Yes, it is quite a solid lump isn't it. Mind you, still a fair bit lighter than the digital kit I need to carry round at times. ;)

Lift the centre of the dial and rotate to desired speed. You need the shutter cocked to be able to rotate it to the right speed.

Just worked it out  . The photo in the manual is a different layout but a bit of fiddling and a broken nail and all was well. :D

Oh, and shutter seems pretty smooth at all speeds.

Think I might have that manual downloaded somewhere too.
Is it maybe for the 4 rather than the 4k?
Need to get some film through mine again.

Funny enough, it was the one linked to by the seller. I did my own search just now and have downloaded the one for the 4k. All is good now, I even know how to focus it. :D

The only thing is, I need to get hold of some B&W film. It just feels wrong to load it with colour for some reason.

Try a roll of Legacy Pro from Digital Truth, really nice film and cheap as well.

Can let you have a roll of Rollei Retro 400 bw if you want? PM an address.

Funny sort of week, testing the Yashica A (film in the scanner even as I type - remind me next time 1200dpi is *not* for 4 frames of 6x6 )) and liked it so much I bought a Yashica-Mat as well! That arrived today along with a Weston V, an Invercone and a pile of film. Also incoming was the neat little Hanimex Micro 35 and the Konica C35.

Seems like I knew I was making a mistake swapping my Canon EF100L Macro lens for Rob's 500CM kit (80mm Planar C T*, A12 Back and PM-E3 viewfinder), I knew it wouldnt stay there though.

Fortunately I was able to purxhase a mint- 150mm Sonnar C T* for a little more than I received for winning the faculty acedemic prize at my recent Graduation, I also picked up a B50 fit bellows hood in nice condition for £25.

I am used to using a Waist Level Finder but noticed on ebay that they were going for around £100 for a near mint one, I then struck lucky as I managed to pick up a 503CX body with WLF in Exc++ condition with a 50mm Distagon C T* for £440, the lens has some external marking and one small scratch on the front element but works perfectly and the scratch should not cause any real problems.

To finish off, I managed to pick up a Mint A12 Black back for £100 delivered to give me two fully operable and complete cameras and set of C T* lenses covering 50mm, 80mm & 150mm.

The last of the kit arrived this morning.

With the 10 rolls of XP2 Super I should be able to get one or two decent images.

Yes! ;)

Seruously, I think Rob needs his bumps feeling for not giving that 'blad more of a faiir try.

I agree. ;)

I also added to the kit yesterday a Spirit Level, a focus screen with a 45 degree split image (eyes aren't what they were) a Chrome A12 Back and a Chrome A16 Back (will keep that for view type shots only).

I am not spending any more on it for a while now unless a cheap 40mm CF FLE & nice Sonnar 250 C T* become available.

I'd love a 40mm Distagon.... but big bucks! That would do me - the 80mm is limited for landscape.

Don't ever play with one one these Ed - you'll want one! :D

Also, got some little adapters... means no RF but I can live without it just to be able to use these fast lenses I have!
