Hi Guys,
how do you avoid running to fat? I find myself sitting on my arse doing FA energetically speaking apart from the odd wee break. Also get bored and eat.
Thoughts?
you'll do a 10-15 min drive in 10-15 mins on a bike. That's 20-30 mins of exercise every day. Getting some training on cycling safely will really help your confidence too. How many people do you know that have had car crashes? Straight away I can think of at least 4 and there are probably a lot more I either don't know about or have forgotten.

fully on board with that idea, till I look round the office.....Isn't there an office "bike"?![]()
surely that depends on how much traffic there is? i.e. - 10 mins sat in traffic vs 10 mins @ 50mph.
all the cycle training in the world wont account for car drivers cutting you up. (been knocked off a couple times myself)

1...keep you fit......
2...you'll have no money left for biscuits, chocs, and booze....![]()
Exercise before work, I'm in the gym before 05:00 am Monday to Friday and a bonus day if I get to work the weekend too. I only get two lunch breaks a week and they are spent in the gym too doing cardio. OK we do have a gym at work which makes things easier but a local gym is always open when I drive past on my way to work.
I just buy bigger shirts:shrug:

This!
Who mentioned biscuits? Come on, hand them around.
No fair
Two or three times a week, get home from work and go for a 20 minute run, then back and shower. Tis supremely refreshing especially after a slog in a London underground sweatbox to get home.
That and not consuming any sugar, and avoiding white bread at work is enough to counter-act the weekend's excesses![]()

PS: A side thought, I wonder if you are like me and is a keen Star Trek fan? the 1701 bit at the end of your name is the same registration number as The Enterprise.
I only started a few months ago with a view to getting in shape to start playing rugby again next season. Just bought some cheap trainers and ran out the door. Started at 3k and now do a 4.5k loop that I'm just doing faster each time. One thing I would say is it can bring up little niggles you didn't know you had....I now know the outside of my right knee is a bit weak and tendons in my left foot are prone to tendinitis! Never used to happen when I played rugby (10 years ago) , so I guess it's just getting old
Only took a week or so before the run becomes enjoyable rather than punishment. I did a 10k a couple of weeks ago which is good as it gives you a target, and it's not really a difficult distance.
I'm no expert though, I'm sure some experienced runners will tell you all about gait analysis and getting the right trainers etc....which I should really do sometime.

Is it easy to run pished, carrying a bottle of voddy?![]()
