what most people dont realise, is that most eastern european migrants have no intention of staying here in the long term.

Being British is about
driving in a German car
not sure whether to laugh or cry at some of the things in this thread
comparing uk problems to south african problems is nothing short of ridiculous.
lots of south africans would love to have the problems we have.
the most dangerous areas of south africa make the most dangerous parts of the UK look like a holiday resort.
as for the immigration in this country, i wish gordon brown would let more hardworking immigrants in, and kick out some of the lazy indigenous species who dont do anything other than dream of being Katie Price.
Well said chaps.Where else have you lived then? What experience are you drawing on when you give us this considered opinion? Or is it just the uninformed throw away comment of someone who doesn't know they're born and doesn't make the most of what they actually have?
I've been around the world and wouldn't live anywhere else. If I had to I'd consider Scandanavia. The UK has so much to offer. Yes house prices are stupidly high in places, yes we are heavily taxed, but then anyone who is sick has access to free health care, yes the weather isn't the greatest but then I've never known anyone get bitten my a tick in this country and die and we don't get the really wild weather the tropics suffer. Europe is on your doorstep where you have mountains, fjords, tourquioise seas, green hills and valleys and so much variety you would die before you'd seen it all.
I'd recommend the UK to anyone.
This country is seriously screwedit's in debt more than ever, the whole economy will collapse in a couple of years, immigration is totally uncontrolled, no police on the streets other than those who can only say "please stop" and the scum on the streets laugh at them. Highest taxes, highest food prices, highest fuel prices.
The whole pension scheme is totally screwed, NHS is pathetic and overfunded, yet when decent people need drugs or treatment they are dealt with by beaurocratic ****s out to save money (nice) They talk about building at least 70,000 new houses a year but no'one can afford them.
Watch TV (crimewatch, or similar) and it's all non british perps.
In 30 years this country will be the cesspit of the world(no, that's wrong give it 5)
Don't come here You'll regret it.....
Sorry folks - rant over

You can try looking at the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP). It is points based and it's really straight forward to go through the form yourself to see if you would qualify. There's no need to use an immigration lawyer or anything.

i'd just like to congratulate kamion for posting the only useful and on-topic post![]()
stop watching TV, reading newspapers and believing every thing you read.
if you really believe this is such a bad place to live then go do something about it.
the real problem in the UK is too many moaners and not enough do-ers (and bad grammar LOL)

resorting to a personal attack (very :thumbsdownresorting to a personal attack (very :thumbsdown![]()
 What's so good about the place then?
Yesare you referring to me?
i didnt realise i embarked on a personal attack? you'll have to point out what you are referring to as you might have misconstrued what I was saying.

not starving
not living in a refugee camp
not suffering from malaria
not having to walk 30 miles in my bare feet just to get some water
not having to experience ethnic cleansing
not being in the middle of civil war
that might sound like one of those god awful charity adverts on tv, but those are some pretty good things about this place.

Hi Anton,
I do wonder if it is a case of the "grass is greener on the otherside of the fence".
Half of my wife's family grew up in SA (cape town) and the other half her in the UK. My wife's cousins have now moved here (and one of them has since moved on again to NZ) for one reason or another, while my sister in-law is in the process of migrating to SA.
Although, I will say that all that have moved here love it, and the one which went to NZ only went because the chap she met here couldn't stay any longer.
All the best with you decision, and I look forward to visiting your lovely country again next June when I hope to get across for the Lions tour.

People have various reasons for wanting to move to another country. I hardly see my family, I have no friends here in the area I live, and although I love my job, I hate the politics and beaurocracy that go with it (NHS). I am leaving the UK behind predominantly to get more job satisfaction and a better standard of living, not because I hate the UK (although it has declined).
There is good and bad in everything, and life certainly is what you make it!
