Hi, other half bought this yesterday ,she's now thinking about getting it unlocked .Would this be a staight forward process or would she have to wait a certain length of time .

If she's on a contract....what's the drive to unlock?

It's free if you know how to root it first, but it will void your warranty. Failing that, most corner shops and mobile accessory stores do it for £10.

Contract phones on O2 are unlocked at no cost and it does not void any warranty as far as I know. The link HERE is talking about the iphone, but it applies to other makes too. There's a link on the page to the O2 unlock request page, but it's HERE anyway.

I used it quite some time ago, I wasn't moving from O2 but would prefer that any phone I have isn't locked to a particular company.

hope it helps.

Thanks for the links ,just wondered if they'd unlock it so soon ;-)

She's fine with 02 just wants to leave her options open ,although saying that 02's signal in doors isn't what it used to be ,none of the netwoks are these days ,why is that… .anyone?

Bricks. And insulation.

Doesn't really explain it if you've lived in the same property for years and no bricks or insulation have been added :-)

Nah ,we had great signals before with lesser phones .I think the networks are more interested in their data signals imo anyways .

Bricks and insulation in other people's houses hampering the signal on its way to you

House is 25 yrs oldand nothing been changed since the good old days of Nokia 3310 lol

to be honest i dont see any signal drop indoors or outdoors on the iphones.

i think it depends on the transmitters though, 3 for example on their coverage charts show whether signal will be available in or outdoors.

There's been a signal drop nationwide with most networks as they have changed the power output of most of the antennas, this was purely to save costs - under the proviso that modern handsets were better at obtaining a signal. However, since we had the 3G upgrade to our local mast, we no longer receive a signal in doors - before the mast upgrade we were totally fine - and that's in a 320 year old property with cob & flint walls measuring 32 inches thick in places!
Unless you're in the city, there's no hope unfortunately. Funny how 4G works underground in London :D

Don't even go there about 3mobile ,I've just canceled a contract with them (for free:-D ) for their poor coverage in and outdoors .

DONT GET AN ANDROID PHONE UNLOCKED AT A SHOP.

When you install an update of android OS you will encounter all kinds of problems.

Instead, a very quick call to O2 asking for an unlatching code will sort you right out :)

If you are on 02 download the TU go app, if your phone has no signal but connected through the wifi it will send the calls and texts via wifi.

pitty, i find them the best down saaf in the areas i frequent :)
There's been real bad problems the network in my area no mobile internet inconsistent signal for the past 6 months.
