The TP52 - 2026 Nog's 52 for 2026 Week 12 Daily life

Sneaks in for the week for me. Bet there are some nice views there.
Thanks Adam, yes it’s not bad up there and best of all the farmers/council have done a pretty good job clearing most of the roads.
Great snowy shot and I've shoe horned in much more tenuous images ;)
Thanks Negan, no doubt there will be more shoe horns from me sooner rather than later:)

I can't see a shoehorn... Definitely lines and angles. Nice image!

Maybe the lines aren't so apparent but it is a lovely shot Keith.

No shoehorn there Keith, love the angle of the hill and trees, contrasts nicely against the mountain skyline

Week 2 Rust and decay

Few years ago when we were walking along the river bank my wife noticed something sticking out of the ground, turned out to be this iron. No idea why we kept it but it has finally been used again. Was going to do a stack to get it all in focus but thought better to get it out of the house before my wife noticed the dead spiders

That’s cool ;)
I did wonder what it was, I saw it in the main thread first.

That's a rather good close up Keith. I can see it's an iron now but only after reading your description!

Thanks Pete, yes it has seen better days
Works for me :)

I wouldn't have guessed iron without you mentioning it.
Thanks Adam

It's a thing for sure and I like the face with the pointy nose on the left :)

I really like the juxtaposition of the decay against the clean, clinical background.

Send it to one of those YouTube restoration channels, good as new in 25 minutes.;)

I feel that is part of a sunken / abandoned ship/boat.
It looks like it could have been a "Bitt".

Hi Tim, with the curved bottom pretty sure (according at google & google images anyway) its a flat or sad iron used in hat making for smoothing felt and also used for starched collars

Also from google, which I thought interesting:
The word "sad" comes from the Old English word for "solid," "heavy," or "firm". It did not originally mean "unhappy," though the heavy, demanding work of ironing eventually led to the phrase "sad job"

I have a small collection of different sized hot-irons that I rescued from the family farm outhouse before it was torn down years ago, which my mum then rubbed down and re-blacked. Just used as fireplace ornaments now, so definitely not decayed or rusty - but might come in handy for shoehorning into a different theme sometime...

LOL, made me laugh Keith...

Great idea using the plain white background. It really makes the image pop.

Believe people used to have a few irons and swap them over when they cooled down, cold ones back on the fire

Thanks Wayne, not sure about the lovely:)

Thanks Bill, had to use something to stop the bits falling on the table :)

I just corrected the typo on my post - hot-irons. They collection has different sized and shaped irons, ie different one for collars and cuffs, wider/narrower ones, etc.
