16-35 f4 with vr or now 18-35 without vr but a few hundred cheaper? Why have they bought this out?
there was a rumour that Canon was working on a EF 800 f/5.6L IS II.Makes the canon 800f5.6 seem a bit of a bargain
Rob.
Would love to know who the new 800 is aimed at? You would want to be making a killing to splash that much on a lens.

If the 18-35 is pointless because there's a faster and wider 16-35, then the 16-35 is equally pointless when there's an even faster and wider 14-24?Hopefully now Nikon can concentrate on filling UK stock of the 16-35 f4 again instead of making a pointless 18-35...
No they dont, read the small printAmazon UK have it in stock right now. The price has been reduced recently too, it's at £862.99 atm.
They said exactly the same thing when i was looking for one but they dont have physical stock, they just have a promise from Nikon UK that they can get it for them within 2 days (whcih wont happen) or they have a returned lens in the system which means they will send you a used/return lensIn stock but may require up to 2 additional days to deliver.

The 18-35 fills a niche for people who want a smaller, lighter, cheaper option. It's far from pointless to them.
But the VR is the main selling point of the 16-35 so its not really pointless now is it.
Simple solution, dont buy it then. The VR ain't a selling point to me. It's still bigger and heavier.![]()
You'd want a decent gym membership as well! I bet people will buy it though. Someone always wants the ultimate.
