Nikon Z* mirrorless

i have the z9 and the zf and to be honest i cant imagine needing anything else for a long time to come ,,,the are of photogrphy is taking pictures and not collecting to much gear like myself lol

Nice shots, what lens are you using?
The 50mm 1.8 S. Figured it's plenty versatile until I get the 24-70 F4 S.

I really loved my 1.8 F1.8 D on my D610. Can use it well for single shots and then go vertical and stitch pano if needed, IMHO

I like the 24-70 f4 except for the annoying need to 'open' the lens to use it. However it is much more compact than the 24-120 f4 that I have so I have kept it since I got my Z7.

Quick question. The Z7 mk1. Is it just that damn annoying phone app for remote triggering, or can you get a normal wired remote or IR remote?

Wired and wireless on Amazon

Anyone had the situation where the Z9 says the EN EL 18d needs calibrating only to put it in the MH33 press the calibrate button, it all lights up red as its meant to, decreases as it discharges and then starts lighting up green for the recharge; only to put it back in the z9 and the calibration icon still shows?

Looking forward to giving this a whirl tomorrow.

I am looking to buy a second battery. Any thoughts on which I should get?

Considering some P1’s are North of £50k, not that bad if the inside is as nice as the outside.
Think it had done 70k miles so quite a lot I guess…. I believe it was number 8 out of a 1000 production run.

We've stayed in a cottage not a stone's throw from the Bathing House. Great capture.
Thanks. We're repeat visitors to Northumberland, it's one of my favourite areas of England. We stayed a little further south this time and the bathing house was relatively close by so it seemed rude not to visit. Here's another, taken later on the same night

I tried out the 2x Teleconverter on the 180-600mm, Z8 in DX crop for a shot of the moon last night. Happy enough with the results.
Settings were ISO640 f/13 1/400th sec.
When it takes up so much of the frame, it's amazing how fast it drifts out of frame.
The further away from the Terminator, the less detail can be seen due to lack of shadows.

It's a "Talk Equipment" forum group, so maybe Nikon users are too busy making photographs with their equipment to find time to talk about it :)

There are other forum groups, aimed at sharing photographs rather than talking about equipment, where Nikon users are active.

That's what I've been attempting to do - I find the GAS is less bad if I'm out taking pictures :giggle:

Yes, my experience is that when I am engrossed in a project, I just get on with it, and GAS never enters my mind.

Even if I have a technical issue, which might be solved with a bit of new kit, I still find myself working to solve it with what I have,

It's only when, for different reasons, I can't get out as often as usual to make photographs that I start trying to justify a new bit of kit.

But there should be still lots of opportunities to discuss, in this forum, how you might solve particular problems that are specific to owning/using Nikon kit.

That I can agree with, having just added the Z8 to my ZF, I am looking to sell my a7iv though to offset.

Any objective thoughts on the image quality of the Z 35mm 1.8 v the 40mm f2. I’ve had the 40mm for a while now and whilst the size etc is ideal, I’m not convinced the focal length is really for me. Considering swapping in the 28 & 40 for a 35… thoughts?

There is a direct comparison (MTF) between the two lenses here:

35mm seems a bit better at wider apertures (wider than f4), but other than that, not a lot of difference.

I've tried both the 40mm and 35mm and went with the 35mm. Whilst there's nothing wrong with the 40mm f/2 for its money and it's size/weight is very welcome, I found the 35mm sharper and resolved better on my Z8, not such a noticeable difference on lower MP cameras. With the 35mm also a better focal length for my use.
There's quite a difference in price.

My z8 arrived earlier tonight, now all charged up and firmware updated.

Roll on the weekend…
