Nikon Z* mirrorless

Any idea what the difference is with the SE version and the regular? The spec sheets look identical on Nikon home page.
SE = Silly Edition I guess :ROFLMAO:

Has anyone else noticed the eye AF has been more active since the latest firmware update on the Z6II? I know that there is no mention of that in the release notes but my Z6II was pinging eye focus most of last weeks CX race where as before it was not. The one disclaimer is that I have only used it on 3/4 occasions now so maybe just starting to get grips with it.
one other thing anyone know how long before we see any battery grip, battery or in fact any lens stock for the Z6II?

Thought I’d just drop in and say hi. Ive just pulled the trigger on a Z7 (traded an XT3 and some lenses) so I’ll probably soon be asking all the usual stupid questions. I’m also getting quite excited about its (hopefully) imminent arrival :)

Some more 1st images with the Z7 II and my new 500mm PF. Not the best example as this little Wren was quite a way away (even with DX crop mode), therefore these are severely cropped down to just a few MP. Now I know where his territory is, I'll try and get some closer shots over the next few weeks.

My new 500mm PF has just landed and can’t wait try it out with my Z7 ii this weekend. Especially now I’ve got the grip too.

Has anyone with the 500 PF moved from Z7 to Z7 ii?
I realise the proper grip for the ii helps, but apart from that any other improvement?

I have the Z7 II with the 500mm PF (and grip), and used to have the original Z7. From my perspective the only real benefits I've seen from the Z7 II is the ability to add the proper grip, second card slot (that never bothered me), and the much deeper buffer (if you are a burst shooter). The AF system might be better but if it is, in my opinion the differences aren't huge.

It`s been blowing a hooly down here (Southeast of France) so off to the coast I go for some well deserved ICM, there`s more over on my flickr.

To be honest it felt ok with the N10 battery pack, the N11 on Z7II feels a little nicer but not huge difference, I only upgraded as got a really good deal on ex demo Z7II so it cost me next to nothing to change

Anyone picked up a 40mm f2 yet, thoughts?

I‘ve been thinking about one as a small walkabout lens for my Z6.

Yep, mine was delivered the other week! I haven’t had as much time to play with it as I’d hoped, but early first impressions are great. It’s tiny, even lighter than I’d hoped (as in barely noticeable), and looks nice and sharp. I haven’t taken and photos I’m proud of yet with it, but will try and share a few testers when I get a chance over the next few days for anyone thinking about getting one!

Cheers Chris. From what I’ve seen it looks a bit of a steal for the money, although I’ve read a few reviews that claim it’s not stellar wide open.

Look forward to seeing a few of your photos with it.

Had a wander round the Clent Hills yesterday with a mate of mine who's just bought a D850. A bit too bright for my liking, but great to get some exercise.

As an aside I think I'm going to stick to my Z6 & 24-70 f4 having felt the weight of his bag with D850 & 24-70 loaded! :$:ROFLMAO:

It is amazing how much weight savings there are with the mirrorless isn't it. Once I had convinced myself these tiny cameras packed just as much punch I have never looked back since.
Always liked the D850 and secretly
coveted one, but as you say when you really put them side by side the mirrorless options offer so much particularly weight wise.

In anticipation of my Z7 arriving (hopefully Monday) I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the Techart Sony FE - Z mount adapters. I’ve got a small selection of Sony glass and it would be handy if I could use some of it as a stop gap until I can afford/ get away with buying a 70-200?
Thanks in advance. James :)

I have just pressed the button on a Z5
Need now to move on my 6d and a couple of old lenses.
Don't tell the missus!! She may spot Nikon on top as opposed to Canon

I think I’m going to put some black insulating tape over the Nikon badge on my new baby when it comes, just for protection you understand (not sure if it will be for the cameras protection or mine though :ROFLMAO:)

My initial problem will be when parcel is delivered
If I can get it upstairs to my den unseen I may just get away with it

My D850 need a good service and minor repair but I can't do without it until the Z9 comes!

Rightly or wrongly I think aesthetics of a camera should be considered along with the standard feature set when making a decision.

I love the retro inspired Nikons of late and wish they would make a full frame mirrorless camera akin to the DF.

do you think I’ll ever see this?

Just a couple of snaps from wandering around with the 40mm f/2 - nothing particularly exciting, but that's more to do with a lack of time than anything to do with the lens!

I suspect if it’s successful a full frame ZFC of some description will be along at some stage.

Anyone else waiting for a Z9 to ship?
I’m looking at March date according to where I put in my pre order…… may need to turn of the internet until it arrives. Was hearing NPS should be getting theirs in the coming week though

Where did you hear NPS are getting them so soon?

I'm an NPS member and registered to go on the priority list the day of the launch. I spoke to them yesterday and was not told it would be that soon. I should know more tomorrow or Thursday.
I've not had anything back from my email but haven't had chance to phone up.

Does anyone know how close the 100-400 Z to starting shipments?

I am guessing like the Z9 there will be shortages of components and very high demand, even now the 500PF is out of stock more often then in stock !

my gut feeling is no, the zfc has had a lot of praise but is aimed at being a cost effective, smaller camera, useful for vloggers and travel etc. The Nikon DF was very much a marmite camera and expensive for the spec to boot, I can't see Nikon repeating that mistake. I wouldn't be surprised if they bring future retro styles cameras to market, I just can't see them being full frame.
