Nikon Z* mirrorless

This is from the 800mm PF which is another stunning lens, this attachment is a lower quality version due to size limits on here.

Any one used the Nikon 105mm G macro on a Z body , looks a cheaper option than the native Z. One ..I don’t do a lot of macro ,currently have a sigma 150 mm f2.8 but it’s heavy and arkward in use . Would prefer the smaller form of the 105
Why not get the Sigma 105mm if you are going use an adpator? The Sigma is sharper than the Nikon lens, I've owned both and only Nikon fannyboys spout about the Nikon being sharper. The Z mounts are for sale quite cheap on the used market now.

More Zf
This time with the Artralab NoNikkor 35mm f1.4
Manual focus lens from China in Z mount
Pretty sure @Stephen L had one.
Only the 2nd time of using it. 1st time close up wide open.
Not sure about it, what do you think ?
Didn't manage to get a shot with any other lens.
Have I missed focus on the tank emblem, or is it soft.
Lovely Bike though.

I did indeed. I thought it not too bad a lens, though sometimes it seemed a little soft and “dreamy “. Also strong prime colours could appear washed out. Good value, though.

I have all the 105mm macro variants in F mount as well as the Z mount version. The Z mount is a larger beast but seems to be easier to use on the Z cameras. I really dont like the FTZ adapter either version it seems like an unnecessary add in but obviously needs to be there for it to work on Z cameras.
If you look at a Z mount lens and a F mount lens it seems like the Z mount lens is just a version of the F mount version but with a built in extension tube.
I know Nikon changed the AF motors as well but I have to say that the Z mount lenses are or seem to be just a way to increase income from us.

Looks as sharp as you could reasonably expect, close up, wide open at 1.4...viewed super close up. (y)

Still can’t make my mind up on this ,at the moment I’m veering towards the Z but is it worth the extra over a used F mount G version I.e circa £350 used F mount -V- £ 699 new for a Z .given they both do the same job with it seems little difference in I.q

Finally bit the bullet and went for a as new condition F mount anyway before, just couldn’t see the sense in spending a extra £400 for something that does the same job

If you already have a FTZ adapter the cost difference is quite noticeable. For me buying a FTZ solely for the 105mm marco G version didn’t make sense considering I’ve kept to Z lenses for everything else.

Fine pair of shots Gareth.
Are those trees permanently 'feet in water' or is it a temporary flooding.
Well spotted either way as they are cracking good images.

Usually you can walk around the trees, but with the rainfall we've had, they've been submerged for some time. I'm hoping for a lovely foggy day before the water receeds away

Yes already have the FTZii plus about 5 f mount FF lenses so it was a no brainer , £250 V £700 for occasional use .. plus I may in the future get another dslr body as back up

It’s definitely makes sense in you your case if you have several F mount lenses.

I’m all in on Z lenses so getting a G lens and then a FTZ to use it would have made the cost difference much close £420 v £669 (show discount),

You all may well laugh but I’ve been pulling my hair out for a hour trying to figure out how to set the Z8 to single shot for the macro lens with flash gun . Not really viable at 20fps . Finally found it .. a touch of flu isn’t helping today either ..
But really liking this macro lens and thanks to JK for good sensible advice first easy to use macro lens for years

Get well soon Jeff. Mind you the weather here is rubbish again so not good for us to be putting our old bones out in the cold and wet!

I thought I’d get out earlier and have a look around a small wood in our village with the Z 105mm macro earlier. It was a nice surprise to see the bluebells have started to come out.

Macro is definitely a different genre to my normal wildlife/landscapes. Nice to see some nice bokeh and diffused backgrounds.

I’m not sure why Flickr won’t give a BB Code bigger than 240 for this photo.
