If the cast you're defending is so interesting and informative I can't see why you're crying in here about comments about it. It's a bit like getting upset and defensive about X-Factor when you see someone slag it off.

They are probably the same people who bashed canon for 1 card slot on the 6d2 and 2nd gen Sony's

A 5DmkIV that I used - useless piece of SH1T that couldn't focus properly - the person that owned it got rid of it, as did their partner who also had one and is a Pro wedding Tog; she lost all confidence in Canon with that Camera - both had serious focus issues when using Sigma Art lenses.

So, go on - your turn - when did the last XQD card fail on you and make you feel like killing yourself?

Exactly, they were so blatantly bias, and defensive because it's Nikon. I doubt anyone learned anything from what was pretty much an extended advertisement.

I did - I would like to have a go with one and possibly purchase :)

I don't see anything wrong with the camera and my current Nikon glass will work well with it.

It is far nicer than any other mirror-less available on the market.

What did you learn that you didn't already know though? There's been a dozen videos before this - the only thing I haven't seen is a decent low light test, preferably not from some Nikon shills. I don't see much wrong with it either, I'm neutral, I am an ex-Nikon shooter, owned 4 of their older cameras. There's just a handful of things I don't like on this one, but there's things to like also - the IBIS might be better than Sony's, would have to see more footage and some hand held slow shutter images, the touch screen looks good, though I noticed some lag on one of the previews [think it was Kai's] and it looks comfortable ergonomically. I'm not ruling it out in future - I am watching with interest.

It won't work that well on your Dslr glass as pointed out by froknows but I guess it's a pre production model so af may improve and be like native. It's not at present

No you are right, I can’t comment on anything, whether a camera I own (5D and it’s buffer) or states facts about a camera that I don’t own but you are free to comment on the entire line up of ALL modern HIGH END DSLR lenses and write off their built quality.

You’ve own them all right?

I liked their enthusiasm for the camera and the sample images shown.

Any camera available today will out-perform my ability as a photographer as I'm sure they would to virtually everybody. I have no desire to buy the camera that has the very best spec sheet - it makes not the slightest difference to my photography. My favourite camera has only one memory (film), has 1/500 sec max shutter speed, no auto focus makes a loud 'clonk' when I press the shutter button and a frame rate of about 1.7 frames/sec - but instils a huge smile everytime I use it.

I've said it before - I buy a camera because the pleasure in photography comes from actually using the camera - it looks the nicest Mirror-less and I like Nikon ergonomics so for me it will give me most enjoyment from my hobby. I have to be inspired to use the camera.

Granted - I have not held/seen one in the flesh and this might change.

They are all Nikon and are switching system just as I did. As I've said before. Upgrading all our D750s to D850, Z6 or Z7 would've ended up costing more than switching to Sony A7iii and buying all new lenses.

I switched a few months ago. My reason for not waiting was a hunch that Nikon's first mirrorless FF wouldn't match the Sony for price, AF or battery life, that there wouldn't be a lot of native lenses at launch, and I had concerns about QC as it would be a brand new product and in the past I had been stung as an early adopter. What I didn't imagine is that they'd have one slot. Even when the rumours of one slot were coming out, I was sure it was a mistake.

I like the form factor of this cameras and the price of the Z6 is surprisingly competitive. Had it XQD-SD slots and a battery rating of around 500 shots, I'd have been very interested. The next iteration of Z cameras will likely have these things, but by then what will Sony have on the market?

I thought the Canon 5DIV was amazing. Had no AF issues when I used it. Just a bit too big and weighty for my tastes, and I still prefer Nikon ergonomics over any other brand (including Sony, which I now shoot with).

I've never had an XQD card fail on me. I've also never had an Audi break down on me nor a Mac/iPhone stop working. Does that mean those things don't happen? Google XQD card failure and you'll find plenty of people who've suffered it. I really don't get how or why this decision/mistake by Nikon is being defended.

They are blinded by brand loyalty and some can’t place themselves in other people's shoes or simply naive.

It’s like not having insurance for your gear or any kind of insurance at all.

Ideally it would have two card slots..................but if it meant having two card slots and dropping 'feature x' because of space in the body then maybe I would prefer them to keep 'feature x'; this is something we will never know. Two card slots it just a complete waste of time for me - my current & last camera had them and I just never, ever use them.

Anyway.................how many efiin pages on the card slot issue?

I don't get fanboyism in any form, these are manufacturers, they make lumps of steel and plastic and hope to suck us all dry because of our G.A.S. There's no personal touch, or loyalty to their customer base, it's all about the money, like anything else

I admire people who still use old banged up gear because it does the job, the people who just ignore all of this BS hype surrounding new releases, I want to be more like them - why do I suffer GAS when I have no f'ing money? :D

If you're designing a camera from the ground up you shouldn't have to leave out any function - you just create the space for a backup SD card, or put in two SD UHSII card slots instead. The very fact that there are so many pages on it show how much of a problem it is for many.

I liked Ross Harvey's thoughts on the camera but even he, a Nikon ambassador, is disappointed about the card thing. I note that most pros that Nikon has as ambassadors are talking about incorporating it into their system rather than switching. That speaks a lot to card anxiety and maybe also battery anxiety. Remember, it's not just card failures, but card losses and/or physical damage. Like Ross, when I shoot destination weddings, I like to split the cards up so one set are on me, one set are in the cameras in my bag. I've even dropped an SD card into a cup of tea when backing up cards one morning.

We have been round that circle before - discussing the card slots is now just very, very boring!
(As a hint - maybe the designers/marketing/accounts dept at Nikon did think it was necessary - time will tell)

Mmm so apparently according to the most recent rumours the yet to be launched battery grip for these will have not just 1 but 2 sd card slots :D

That's the thing isn't it, they had the chance to do what they wanted, design the camera how they wanted yet some moron(s) decided it was a good idea to design it without room for two slots. I would love an honest answer (not a marketing or whatever BS one) as to why they chose to do this. Make the camera 5mm deeper or whatever, no-one would bat an eyelid at that, but look at all the controversy over one slot.
 
I'll talk about some positives:

The EVF sounds like it's great. From the photos, I think the ergonomics will be spot on - certainly better for you big-handed freaks than the Sony cameras. I've always loved Nikon ergonomics and think no other manufacturer has matched them over the years. I like having the DISP button. I do use the C3 button on my A7III to manually switch between evf and lcd - I just prefer it that way. They've kept the front facing custom buttons - something I loved on my Nikons. I'd guess that they kept Nikons quick and sensible way of turning Auto-ISO on and off - I hate Sony's system in this regard. I love shooting double exposures so its great to see that they've not only kept this feature but they've improved it. Although I don't miss the top display on the A7, I like the look of the white on black display on the top of the Z cams.

I really look forward to getting my hands on one, and if I like it, will consider buying a Z6 from Panamoz in a year or so if the price comes down to around £1500. Still, I don't think I'd contemplate using it professionally.

Sony's lawyers forgot to put the battery grip in the partnership agreement [Pure speculation!] or a sensible engineering decision made at the design stage that would allow them to target the professional market?

It'll pacify a few, but for those wanting to save weight by switching to mirrorless, it won't help. I hate battery grips - nothing screams 'camera club' like a camera with a battery grip attached;)
