Could it be right, a D850 this year ... with 45.3MP

I dig the articulated touch screen and the 45MP…
but I could do without that video thing!

Agree with you Kodiak, I have no use for video though many obviously do ... all speculation though ATM :)

some of those specs seem way OTT (4 memory card slots WTF?) to take it too seriously

Would be surprised if the new D8XX is 45 million pixels tbh would expect 50 million, the new a.f system and the new auto lens tuning.

How wrong we were :D

Getting far, far too complicated ... even for someone who wants everything ........ they are now getting as fully-featured as Photoshop - 90% of which most people don't use

I could do without the PRICE and VIDEO,(and all the gubbins related to)

All I want is single cell focus and it's good to see 1/8000th back ........ 35MP's is enough, probably too much

Max ISO I need is 10,000

there will be memory slots all over the camera soon

Nikon could produce a great FX camera for me for £1,000 as long as I stay in my "bird box" ..... when I am out of the box there are others that I could prefer

Nikon will be adding computer games onto the LCD next and an app for controlling your home central heating - I can just see couple of Nikon "nips" working away craming as much as they can into ever new model

Maybe a nearly new D4S will be advertised for under £2k?

If this really comes out I'll be selling my d7200 and using this instead! 4k video would be very useful for work too as we do a lot of filming and 4k would be great for future proofing. Bet it will be more than the £2k mark though :(

A lot more. Think closer to 3k.

Yep, they seem to be throwing a lot into cameras these days that don't interest me either, I think Nikon R&D need to spend some time with me before releasing the next camera

All I want is a D750 with wider AF spread and cross type on the outer points, better placed AEL/AF-ON button (or even better a dedicated AF-ON button), and decent AF in live view. They could up MP to 36 if they wnated, although it wouldn't bother me if they didn't. They could also take out the video feature and bring the price down. Would be the perfect camera imo :p

Agree with the replies above. Keep it simple, its a camera at the end of the day, focus on keeping it that. Professional video peeps will use a separate unit I'm very sure.

I've never used video via any camera, no interest. We'll probably see the likes of candy crush games installed to keep us amoused in the near future, God help us.

Haven't they just announced the D5 and D500?

D5 will have 4K video, but it seems to be limited to 3 minutes of footage, then the 1080p to 10 minutes.

I personally like having everything in one camera, I can switch between them as needed. I need an upgrade from my D700 so I am keen to see what is coming out in the next year.

Id have though a D850 is next years release? Do they not alternate releases so this years is D5 & D500

Video means nothing to me in a camera, nor have I used the pop up flash, a body that lets me get the best image of wildlife I can in my learning curve, with the best sensor available would have me spending.

With all the responses here maybe the future of cameras is a modular design?

Like with a car, you buy a base model and then purchase the extras on top, then it's built and delivered :)

Nikon now seem to be throwing new DSLR's out now every few months like Dominos Pizzas - a certain recipes for a 50% first year depreciation on UK Nikon retail prices, especially with the grey market being so popular

And that can't be good for the local retailer but I shall go with the best price

Maybe they've been taking sales advice from Sony ;)

I don't think they've been too bad compared to some makers, their updates at least are to things that either are due an update (D5) or something new (D500).
Its been ages since the D750 and D810 were launched, the only one I can see that seems to have had a few variants in a shorter space might be the D7100/D7200?

And its to be expected the more consumer DX stuff is updated more frequently. The D750 is 1 1/2 yr old already.

Crikey, didn't realise I'd had it that long already (14 months). Whilst arguably not considered a direct replacement for the D610 didn't the D750 get released just under 2 years after the D610? If so it's not unreasonable to think that there would be an 'upgrade' some time this year. The D810 is slightly older than the D750 and was released just over 2 years after the D800 so again not unreasonable to assume that that might also be 'upgraded' this year either.

I wouldve thought there will be announcements end of this year. Early Sept 2016 will be 2 years since D750 announcement. Goes to show what a good camera it is, theres still a lot of buzz about it and values are holding pretty well.

I've had my d800 for 5 ish years now (bought and sold a d750 in that time). The d800 is immense (for me) but if I was thinking of a new body the d850 would tempt me!

I'm looking forward to this badboy, if rumours are right and it uses the A7Rii sensor array and has the focus speed of the D500 its a winner in my book. fingers crossed....

And a pop up flash, very useful for ad hoc off camera speedlight stuff with the CLS system.
