Nikon D7xxx owners thread

Don't know what examples you've seen in the D750 thread, and not sure if the below is a good example either - but the first image is SOOC, the second obviously with PP done. As you can see, it's brought quite a lot out of the shadows! :)

Hopefully this demonstrates what you were after?:)

Thanks for the samples, just weighing everything up, undecided with the d7200 or the d750. I mainly shoot landscapes (aware a FX sensor is more suited) but why spend all that £££ if you don't need to. Have you experienced any issues in low light situations?

Cheers kellett[/QUOTE]

Wow, out of interest - can you talk us through what you did? Is this just a LR edit?

I can't really remember to be honest - although I would have done the old "lower the highlights, raise the shadows" bit.

I also put it through PS to remove the emergency light glow from the window.
I'm more than happy to provide you with the Raw file if you wanted to have a little play? I'll post it via Dropbox later when I'm home from work...

You can do that in LightRoom too
I could, but after I'd lifted the shadows the whole window had a green glow, and thought the clone stamp tool would have done a better job. Or does LR have a clone stamp too? (rather than just spot heal?)

Yep - you can clone or heal..... mind you, that's in LR6 - not certain about 5 (can't remember).

Just bought a D7200 tonight from John Lewis which means I can leave the D7000 in the car just in case I need a shot anytime, paid £775 for body only and then went for an extra £25 off after seeing Currys had it at £552.
Will also send off for the grip which without this offer I was going to get a grey import for £599 so well happy.
Not sure whether to sell my D7000 or my D2x ?

I got my camera and all I can say is "wow!!!" It's an upgrade from a D90!

However, I just applied, but got the following reply today:

Unfortunately we have been unable to process your claim at this point, for the following reason(s):-
  • NON UK DEALER OR PRODUCT
  • EXCLUDED RETAILER
I bought from 'Panamoz.com' so understand the reasoning why. But is there any way around it? I'd like to have a free grip :)

But is there any way around it?

Not really. It's a deal made by Nikon UK not Nikon Worldwide (or whatever they may be called nowadays) :(

so you paid £775 for d7200 then went for £25 off dont understand !!!
currys PRICE £552
are you going to return it to j lewis then buy from currys ?

am i missing something here ??

Slight mistake there Currys price was £752 which I saw after I had bought it in JL so popped back to JL and they refunded me £25 so price matched

Quite early for nikon to be doing the grip offer then. Guessing it must be to up sales at Christmas rather than a replacement being on the cards.

I think this is Nikons way of support UK suppliers make the Grey market not so attractive ?

Sounds reasonable as it's the second grip offer on a camera less than a year old.

Why do you reckon UK ones come with the 18-105 kit lens whilst all other markets get the 18-140? Mine's a UK one but I'd rather have had the 18-140 lens.

So my d7200 just arrived. I got it from Amazon but it turns out it was a seller on Amazon (i didn't notice as it was the default one when you just click add to basket). It's got a two pronged plug, does that mean it's a grey import??? Would it exclude me from any warranty or from getting the free grip? Annoying as I didn't even intend to get a grey import!

How would I know where it's from/meant for? Thanks.

It does sound like it is... although it could quite easily be an error on their part.

Can you post the Amazon link from where you bought it?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...ords=d7200&dpPl=1&dpID=51ibJgh5oBL&ref=plSrch

From the seller shown there, netlynx. It says sold by them and fulfilled by Amazon now I've checked it. The instructions are in English but the little support paper inside lists contacts for Australia, hk, India, Indonesia, Malaysia...all places round there.
Well the listing says a couple of things which lead me to believe it's UK, or at least european stock.

"Nikon Europe Service Warranty Card"
"MH-25a Battery charger with UK plug"
"Claim a MB-D15 Battery Grip With This Product
The Offer only applies to items sold by Amazon.co.uk and does not apply to purchases made from third party sellers on the Amazon.co.uk Marketplace platform. Offer valid until 28th January, 2016. Find out more."

I would contact that seller and ask them if it's a mistake, or if it's a grey, but the above would suggest it isn't. You can still get your free grip by the looks of it...no doubt they'll send you a UK plug.

Hmm I ordered through my phone and there was no mention (i just checked again) of the grip not being available if you buy from 3rd party sellers!! I already bought it from Amazon and then the next day the grip offer came about so I returned it and re-ordered, now looks like I might have to return AGAIN!! Have contacted the seller so have to ser what they say.

Yeah you won't get the grip with that as its not Amazon stock. Nikon will pick up on it when you send a copy of the receipt unfortunately.

Hmmm, it is strange that it would state you can get a free grip, if you actually can't (it's not as if it's a 'third party seller on Amazon Marketplace either) - I'd be interested to hear what the seller has to say.

Just out of interest - may I ask what your reason for not wanting a grey import is?

I just ordered a body from jessops, so that there'd be no doubt about claiming the grip.
Works out about the same as buying a grey and then a genuine grip thereafter.

Yeah as I say it was the main default listing on the item on Amazon.co.UK. No mention of the grip not being counted on the mobile version.

Dont want a grey as it's for work so would like full warrenty. Also want the free grip which I wouldn't get as it stands.

The price of the D7200 has dropped bout about £100 over the past few weeks - they were £849 from Jessops when I bought mine!

752, same as a few dealers, used them as i ordered today for delivery tomorrow @ 8.99

Almost certainly grey. I'd definitely return it. If you want grey buy from one of the reputable sellers.

You have to be very carefully buying from amazon, the seller has to be stated as amazon.co.uk and not one of their marketplace sellers like you have purchased from. The fulfilled by amazon bit can also be misleading as all that means is the sellers stock is stored at amazon warehouses and amazon will arrange delivery. Nikon offers like cashback or free grips etc only cover uk models sold by authorised uk dealers. Like others have said it's a nikon uk offer so it doesn't apply to grey purchases.

If it was bought from Nexlynx then it's a marketplace seller and not amazon.co.uk even though it's on amazons website. If you click on the 'new and used from £672.46' it brings up a full list of sellers of which one is listed as amazon.co.uk. The seller listed as amazon.co.uk would be amazon and it would be uk stock eligible for the free grip offer......confused yet? Buying on amazon can be a minefield.

With any other seller than amazon.co.uk it could be uk or grey stock, there isn't any way to say as the description is always the same for all sellers as it's a generic description. The free grip offer will only be offered by authorised nikon dealers, amazon.co.uk is an authorised dealer but other sellers are mostly like not.

Probably best to return stating that the listing did not mention it wasn't eligible for the grip offer on the mobile version. Get the refund and then buy from jessops or WEX to ensure you get the free grip.

Yeah will do :) I was aware of the marketplace sellers if you go on 'other sellers' but since it was the default listing on the page I didn't even consider it (probably my fault too) and just thought the default listing would be the Amazon one. I'm not sure how it's determined then because there are clearly cheaper ones on the marketplace so it can't be based on price.

I've nearly caught out by that too especially when buying memory cards on amazon. I'm not sure why amazon don't always list themselves as default. I'm guessing a marketplace seller may have paid extra to be the default option. Amazon probably know buyers will search the 'other sellers' list who them. I treat marketplace sellers like ebay sellers.

Another reason for not seeing Amazon first. I think sometimes Amazon maybe out of stock and hence why other sellers get to the main page/listing. It is confusing and I have been caught out in the past with a Nikon V1.

I bought a lens recently. But it was patently obvious that it was grey because of the price. That alone should start alarm bells ringing.
