Nikon D7500 coming this week?

Nikon's numbering is all over the place if it is called the d7500. I can't see how they are going to make it enough of an improvement over the D7200 without damaging D500 sales. I think we have got to a point where technological advancements in new models are going to be few and far between.

the numbering on that "leaked pic" look odd to me the two zeros are different, looks fake

Could just be a low rez image,or a low rez fake image

It seems very strange to be seeing this rumour out there. Other than price difference, how can this be an improvement over a D7200 but be less tech-wise than a D500; especially taking into consideration Nikon's announcement about focussing on medium and high end bodies?

Did think a replacement D750 would be next. Disappointed in this if true!

And how much cheaper will it be than a D500?

Read somewhere that it will launch at £1199

No D750 replacement until late 2017 early 2018.

D500 sensor, new style grip, touch screen, 8fps. Looking pretty good.

Low Res screen though, guess they couldn't match too many things to the D500!

One step forward - 2 steps back.

They've addressed the buffer issue that led to a hate hate relationship with my old D7100, got the point my K3 would come to air shows, yes it would hunt but once I got the plane in focus it kept clicking and clicking, while the D7100 buffer was just....

It's the loss of the second SD slot that bugs me most, I do RAW on one card and JPEGS on the other, risking too much on one card. Would be nice if Nikon also redesigned the grip to hold a spare SD card just like the Pentax grips.

So, I am glad I pulled the trigger on the D500.

1299 is a bit pricey. Same price in dollars in the states.

£1299 including 20% VAT. $1299 excluding sales tax. Not really so different.

Canon and Nikon really do shoot themselves in the foot when they go out of their way to not cannibalise their own sales, it's particularly noticeable now that the likes of Fuji promote brand loyalty by significantly updating cameras (at the expense of reducing upgrades sales in the short term).

I wonder what the cost benefit of removing the second SD card slot was? It probably cost them money assuming they are using the D7200 as a basis. The D7xxx series seemed pretty popular as an APS-C backup for wedding photographers etc (cheapest new way in to a camera with dual slots), they've now hobbled that path.

Just seen the specs, and it seems (the what seems to be becoming the norm) Nikon penny pinching. Give with one hand, take away with the other.
Improvements:
8fps
Larger Buffer
4K video
Marginally better high ISO performance
Improved metering
Touch screen
In camera AF Fine Tuning
Lighter camera
Snapbridge

Step backwards:
Lower res sensor
Lower res rear LCD screen
One SD slot instead of two
Worse battery performance with a new design of battery
No NFC. The D5600 has it confusingly.
Presumably because it is a sensor the same as, or very similar to, the D500, overall slightly worse image quality blow ISO 400

What it should have, imho, as well as the stuff they have taken away, is support for UHS-II media and USB3 connection. At least they left the sensor cleaning on with this one. ;)

I was hoping that Nikon would get their act together after the recent announcement of restructuring but alas it appears not. I think fanboys will buy this camera, but part of me wishes it fails. I don't mind the lower res sensor (if IQ and noise are better) but a single card slot is inexcusable imo. I wouldn't care how great the rest of the camera is, in this day an age a single card slot on a new mid to high level camera would stop me from buying it. A lower res screen is just plain poor too. Honestly, I'd love to know who makes these decisions

Oh, and now the metering button has gone from the top to the BACK of the camera (due to the ISO button), what the fudge  Why not just have it like the D750 and make the record button assignable to ISO. Or better yet, move the record button to the back of the camera. The D500 moved the metering button too, but at least that stayed on top thanks to the 'pro' layout, but if this is the trend I fear that this will happen to the D750 replacement and the metering will be on the back too :(

Well that would be a disaster, as the replacement camera for the 'only camera' in the world endorsed by the 'lab-coat' would now have a defect!!! :D:p:D

Not that it would bother me but for people who shoot more seriously and or for money why oh why give up a second SD slot, all the other 7000 series to my knowledge have 2.
they took the sensor clean and mic input away with the D3400.Nikon must have some rubbish R&D people

Unfortunately the D750 isn't perfect :p

What do you class as shooting seriously? You could argue family snaps are worth far more than a paid pic of a runner in a marathon, or a model posing in a studio. To me a dual card slot should be standard on all but budget/entry level cameras ;)

I wonder how many will think it a worthwhile move?
Only those with more money than sense or the diehard fanboys ;):p

I can only speak for myself then, it doesn't matter to me if a camera has just 1 card slot but what I meant by serious was someone concerned that they could miss a shot if the card failed, i wouldn't be , YMMV ;)
having said that Nikon are idiots

Do Nikon have more current DX bodies than lenses yet?
