Nice review, thanks. Disappointing to hear that the 1.4 is softer at 1.8 than the 1.8 as I don't rate that wide open![]()
Nice reflection in the 2nd.Down that beach again with the 24-85 and it's distortion. I took some beachscapes to pass the time.

Thanks Steve. Glad you think 'Gone Out' is bonkers!Nice reflection in the 2nd.
Completely unrelated to the above, Dave, but I just checked out your blog - 'Gone out' is as brilliant as it is bonkers! Loved it!![]()
How do you find the 24-85? I'm thinking of getting a lightweight lens for when I don't want to use the 24-70.Down that beach again with the 24-85 and it's distortion.
That's what I use it for. Apart form it making horizon's curved I find it very good for the price. And it's lovely and light. How do you find the 24-85? I'm thinking of getting a lightweight lens for when I don't want to use the 24-70.
VR or older version? That's what I use it for. Apart form it making horizon's curved I find it very good for the price. And it's lovely and light.

It's a great lens, Julian, especially for the price you can pick them up for.How do you find the 24-85? I'm thinking of getting a lightweight lens for when I don't want to use the 24-70.

The Bakkhai (Euripides) by Paul, on Flickr
I had the privilege of helping photograph a local university's production of "The Bakkhai," a Greek tragedy originally written by Euripides. It was one continuous scene, so to speak, and was quite challenging with the lighting and movement of the players. It was an interesting experience. To say that it challenged the abilities of the D750 is an understatement. The camera was on auto ISO, I shot aperture priority and ISOs ended anywhere from around 1500 to 256000. This was one of the lower ISOs at 1400. It was focussing on things in virtual darkness. What an amazing camera!
It is certainly staggering for its low light capability for sure - I shot a wedding recently and the Church was a quite poorly lit - I set auto iso up to 10000 and the noise was so soft it was unreal. Surely though the noise at 256000 must have been fairly unusable though?

Sleeping Lions by Chuckoir, on FlickrLove the monkey shot, is that a selfie [emoji87] [emoji205]We've had tickets to Bristol "Zoo" that we had to use before the expired, so popped down there today. It's mighty difficult to get a decent shot when shooting through filthy glass (the enclosures, not my lens!) - these were the pick of the bunch.

Might give it a look. Still not used Nik yet though, had it for about 12 months toohttp://www.imagenomic.com
They're along the same lines as the Nik collection of photoshop plugins. "Real grain" is the other one of the Imagenomic products. I usually default to Nik but some of these have a lot of noise in them so I thought I'd give Noiseware a shot. It handles the noise beautifully!
I don't believe we've met, but now I'm starting to doubt myself. And happier.
You're very lucky to have wild seals on your doorstephah, name of the beach![]()
Yeah, we definitely are. They're there all year round, couple of hundred of them just chilling on the beach for the most part. You're very lucky to have wild seals on your doorstep![]()

There's volunteer wardens there because people are idiots. Someone last year tried top suit their toddler on a seal so they could get a pic...

Fascinating things they are... Stones. Nice shot. The Time Machine backups didn't exactly work out too well especially with Adobe CC. Had to manually reinstall most of it again. Still getting my head around working with smart previews, kind of works but I seem to have to connect to the pictures first then unplug, negating booting straight into LR without plugging in the main external drives? Anyway, enough for today, just realised I haven't saved my PS setup. Here's the first pic off the laptop, finally outside earlier and she's discovered stones..
