Nikon D750 & D780

How do you have your slide connected Toby?
One attachment on side lug one on tripod plate. Tried it in both side lugs and it's nowhere near as comfortable (especially with the 150-600mm attached) and the strap gets in the way when shooting.

Cant you sleep Toby?
Just got in ;)

Cheers. Can't decide if i like it or not. Meh.
I went through that phase, in fact I sent my first one back. But I decided to try it again and glad I did and now much prefer it to other sling straps including the black rapid. Black rapid's great but it annoys me how much the camera swings and spins when you're walking.

There was blazing sunshine when I parked up yesterday. By the time I got to the sea front it was foggy!

I've never been comfortable with cameras swinging around from a strap, sometimes use a sunsniper. My preferred is the spider pro holster, just sits nicely on the hip and is very much to hand.

That's what I like about the peak design over black rapid it doesn't really swing and just sits there on the hip. I assume you can only use small lenses with the holster?

I bought a nice one, once over the shoulder I have an additional strap to put under my arm and clip in place, like this it don't slide up and down my body and on top of this for the camera there is also a small tethered line between camera and strap. D750 plus 300mm weighs 2.2kg and supports it nicely.
See if I can get a link up.

Not sure I'd trust a £13 strap with that value of gear

The design looks the same as the BR with the strap going under the arm, and the same spinning carabenar.

Hi Chris, I took it at the 'victorian christmas' event at portsmouth historical dockyard - they're still there today if you're interested!

Edited to say, get someone else to drive - there's lot's of samples to taste & try ;)
Thanks Maria, are you saying thats not a real person?edit ok i get it ,dressing in the times for the event, kool

Looks like the price has dropped, must say as of the moment, I do mostly have a hand on the camera or lens just in case but it does have that teather strap for the extra security.

I have the same one Graham, just because you didn't pay stupid money for it doesn't mean it's crap. BR straps will cost the same amount of money to make (probably even in the same factory!) as the focus one but because they're the top brand they charge a premium.

Anyone watch the programme about how much it costs to make an iPhone? Doesn't stop them charging £700 for a new one!

True, and maybe I was quick to jump to conclusions based on my own experiences with cheap straps.

Quite the opposite, the 70-200 sits nicely. I'm not sure how the twin version works though, as you'd be using the side that isn't so natural. Which is another reason I'm going to have one on the strap for the wedding. Reaching around to your left side isn't so bad but if the camera was clipped in there? Lucky it was my left shoulder I broke last year, as I couldn't have a camera swinging from that one.

The spider is expensive though. I have a think tank belt that I don't use, just a shame that the spider plate for that was as much as the whole belt single system. Having a pin effectively off the bottom of the left hand side of the camera took a little getting used to too.

Where's @Paulie-W and @anibap these days?

Hi all
What did I miss? Haven't been around much as I've been sick since the end of October, and just to add more joy my hard drive has just bitten the dust.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly mate. Hope you're on the way to recovery! (y)

Cheers David
Yeah getting there, and should bee back at work after this week. Needless to say Prague was a write off :(

One from me today - processing not to everyone's taste, but the background was just so busy with so many bright elements and lots of red... I had to do something... texture in PS, desaturated in Silver Efex, some enhancements in Viveza...

Very nice shot Maria, great pose & expression.(y)

George.

I couldn't get on at all with the peak designs so went back to the new black rapid cross shot breathe and its excellent - the new style carabiner seems stronger, and it now comes with the protecting clip as standard. The Cross Shot is also super light and comfortable.

But different straps suit different people!

I'm not normally this prolific, just had lots of opportunities over the last few weeks... This one from today at a local historical brickworks site, I created the background from lots of different elements from the place and Heather the Steampunk was lit naturally (overcast day)

First time I've tried the ISO up to 3200, a bit of noise, but happy with the result. And yes - she is wearing a jetpack! :)

Sorry to hear that mate, glad you seem to be on the road to recovery.
Nightmare about the harddrive too.

Thank you. Yeah all I needed ;)

I've just been looking at the Peak Design Slides as I'm getting fed up with keep removing m Black Rapid from the camera to mount it to the tripod. And I'm convinced I'll drop the camera before long

Yeah, that is a pain. I also added a secondary tether to my BR strap which made it even more of a pain to swap from the strap to a tripod. The peak design is great for this, the strap clips are a cinch to use, and I use the RC2 compatible tripod plate and have converted my Giottos ball head to accept RC2's :)

I will have a look and see if there are any deals about watching the promotional video it certainly looks to be what I need

I have a Manfrotto head that I think has a RC2 plate which I can fit to my main tripod

Hmm so my main heavy duty Tripod a Vanguard from memory has a RC2 plate and my 2 lighter weight tripods are ARCA

I think the usual peak desin plate is arca compatible, not 100% sure though.

I have a peak design too and it's pretty good although i've not tested it with very large lens. Mine is arca and my tripod takes RC2 so if anyone wants to swap i'm up for it ;-)!

I've tested it with the D750 and Tamron 150-600mm and it's no trouble. I contacted peak design beforehand to see how much weight it could take and they advised me any camera and lens combo. I would have preferred an actual figure, and I'm not sure I'd trust it with a 600mm f4 ;)

I have my Manfrotto QR plate always attached to my camera with the FastenR. Transition from strap to tripod is takes seconds!
