Hi Ian, They dont post photos here, they just whine and bitch all the time about each other.... pmsl

Every year at Chatsworth House they decorate the house with a Christmas theme. This year is the Nutcracker and featured actual Ballet Dancers in one of the main halls. Here is one of the dancers on the balcony overlooking the hall.

Light inside was very low so it was a fine balance between getting a fast enough shutter to freeze motion and keeping ISO within reasonable limits, This is shot at ISO 6400 in natural light.

Was that "in camera" B&W or LR/PS change ?

That's very nice Toby, great pose, well controlled exposure, and really works well in mono.(y)

George.

Last update:

Camera back and packaged very well, looks good as new. It's had a new shutter, rubbers and a sensor clean. Looks mint. Shutter count not reset. Came back with all my saved setting in and the AF seems just fine.

I'm happy :)
Guess they`ll have to get a new "door stop" now pmsl

I shoot RAW so all B&W's are done in post.

Glad to hear it's all come back working fine, as it should be (y) I asked Nikon about the shutter count reset and they said they don't do this as the shutter count reflects all the internal parts and not just the shutter.

@snerkler not too bothered about resetting the count just documenting the progress!
Did you make a shutter count before and after it went in then for if/when you sell it?

"Cracking" shot Sir, love the pose, lighting, and the well controlled exposure.(y)

George.
Thanks George. I can't take credit for the pose though, none of the shots were staged I just grabbed them whilst she was 'working'. If you're interested I've uploaded some more on Flickr.

Shot with the 24-120mm and very very little cropping, this bird was extremely tame

Closest I can get them in my garden is about 8 feet. I got the camera within a foot of this guy I reckon

One flew into the garage the other day and sat by the rear windows waiting for me to open them.
I reckon I could of set up a small studio around him and got a cracking picture. (if I had the equipment that is )
I'll just wait for the snow and see if he goes into the Holly bush and then I'll sell.it on a Xmas card haha

Just been asked by the father in law if I'll take some pictures of his factory unit for his website.
Not exactly my thing but I said I'll give it a go. If he don't like them he don't have to use them. it is coming up to Xmas so he might get me something nice haha

Passed this photo on the unread posts tab a few times this morning. Bloody love it.
Thanks Ian, much appreciated.

I could have expanded slightly granted, but it just really stood out among the many new posts. A beautiful subject with lighting and detail where it needs to be. Almost abstract due to the contrasting areas or light / shadow (to my eyes anyway). Well done, again :)

I'll ask in here as this is the font of all knowledge

Need a cheap ttl flash - any recommendations?

Shanny sn600sn, or Yn568. I prefer the shanny due to the locking system.

How cheap is cheap? Used SB800 could be a good buy.

Around the 50-80 mark.

I have two sb900's and want another ttl light to use with my yongnuo yn622 triggers for portability

MBP have a few around that price mark. 1 SB800 and a couple of 600`s :)
